Since I started teaching guitar, I am often asked questions like:
How long have you been playing guitar? How did I practice? Did I have formal lessons? First guitar? First riffs?
And in this video, I wanted to show you my guitar playing journey to the fullest extent I can based on the footage we have stored in the Cooper family archives. The point of this video to convey that it takes time, patience, resilience, self-discipline to achieve what you aspire to be on any musical instrument.
I also wanted to finally announce in this video that my band has now been formed... Lake Domain, and we plan to release material in Spring 2020. Stay at the time of writing I am doing my last minute packing before my flight to Gothenburg tomorrow where myself and the Singer, Jo Mansson will be mixing the tracks.

I want you ALL to know this. Do NOT judge your own abilities according to other people's talents. Just learn from them and explore on you own. It is NEVER too late to learn anything! Don't judge yourselves..instead..believe in yourselves! And practice what it is you like to do. Just like and believe in what you do, and keep learning from others..just keep going!

Could not agree with this guy more! Play how you want! Practice how you want! Never compare yourself to me or anyone else for that matter! The guitar is about enjoying yourself regardless of whether you play professionally or not. There is only 1 rule. Once you start, don't stop! :)

A great retrospect. But if you're a young aspiring guitarist out there, don't watch this and lose heart: Everyone is self-taught. Nobody picks up a guitar and comes up with this themselves.
There is a big, big difference in what beginners have available to them for self instruction today (since 2000, really, internet is a huge force multiplier) versus the guitarists from before. That's no excuse, it's fact.
What may possibly be Cameron's biggest attributes toward his success is what was (and will always be) the biggest factors: love for the music, and DESIRE. There are just so many ways to spend your time these days, and to be able to stick with it for his entire life and keep improving? That's the 'secret' he has that many, many others don't. Of course, the choice guitars he has had over the years can't hurt, lol. But even then, quality gear will only get you so far.
I wish you all the best in the future and hope you never lose the fire that got you this far!

You are incredibly talented and you have no doubt worked very hard to master your techniques. I am 50+ and bought my first guitar, an acoustic, only a couple of years back. Your channel is a great inspiration and I love how you break down the techniques. Will get an electric soon; life is short, might as well do the things I love. Keep rocking Cameron ❤

Some of you saying "i wish i started young" as if that would make you as good as this kid... this kid has NATURAL abilities and definitely crafted them. But it's not just cause he started young. It's because he truly put the work in. you can tell this kid sat in his room ALL day playing and playing and playing. That's how he's this good. It's not JUST cause he started when he was young.

It’s awesome how people can set their minds to things. When I was 10 I was busy pulling motors with my dad and he was shredding the guitar. We are all the same yet so different.

Really enjoyed the message. Very encouraging to me. By the way I am 49 will be 50 in april. I desire never to stop. I did stop at one point but never again. Still have alot to learn. God has blessed you with a great talent. God Bless. I think about what Paul told Timothy in the Bible. Let no man despise your youth.
