"I didn't want to crush my dreams, but its to late now and you're coming down with me" funny but so true
My dreams went along for the ride!
My dreams are not crushed, cos I am not out looking for a plane, but I enjoy science and technology, and aircraft are fascinating. Also, that climb rate is pretty high. Would love to ride in this plane, not inverted or high gee though.
cant like cause 69
I disagree, I found it surprisingly affordable. I clearly can't afford it but that's not as bonkers as I feared
@@thatguyalex2835 Climb rate is NOT high. Neither us the cruise speed, it's pathetic, a Honda Jet cruises faster and climbs faster while carrying 6/8 people at half the fuel burn (if you're willing to do 360 knots). The MIG 15 burns 300 gph but at least you look cool and can cruise faster than an airliner. The PC 21 is a modern equivalent of this trainer but it's propeller driven, so I'm not impressed. Also, I found a starfighter (Mach 2+) for 800k, so don't bullshit me about low purchase price
I've always dreamt of owning/operating a MiG-21 or Starfighter, as I've seen them go for sale in the 100k-ish range over the years. Would be neat to see a video on one of those. Probably the MiG, as every inquiry into Starfighters has been led with something along the lines of, "First of all, it's a death trap."
If I ever do a Starfighter video I'll start with that line
@@CompleteWalkaround I mean it's a mach 2 jet with a 6 meter wingspan, what more can you expect?
MiG-21 is a bit of a handful too. It doesn't quite have the "reach this AoA and you WILL die" factor of the 104, but the MiG is still a bit of an adventure to land. Both came from the era of peak difficulty to fly.
Now if anyone had an F-106 for sale, I'd gladly commit to being homeless and using the Delta wing for shelter. That thing was supposed to be a real sweetheart.
@@CompleteWalkaround So ya wanna buy a Starfighter. Why? It's a death trap! Unless you mean The Last Starfighter. That "Death Blossom" finishing move it has is pretty awesome. But I digress...
@@JETZcorp From what I've read, virtually every flyable F-106 got converted into target drones and blown up. The surviving ones are unflyable static displays, spared from becoming drones simply because they had some sort of issue that prevented them from being used. Disappointing to say the least
Having restored and certified 9 of these and and owned one myself for a few years, I found the cost to be not quite so high. I paid around $4 per year for insurance. Liability only ($1M). No hull insurance. It's cheap enough to buy and restore another airframe. I paid $75K for mine. I shared a large hangar with other jets for $800/month. I also saved some $$ on condition inspections ("annuals") because I am also an A&P mechanic. However, the airframe and engine are very durable, so I never spent a lot on replacement parts. In addition, since the aircraft is in the Experimental category, you can manufacture replacement parts, as long as the A&P says that it's airworthy. Yes, fuel is the biggest operating cost, but you can fly it with a lower power setting on cross-country flights to save fuel. The biggest burn is when you're out doing aerobatics. I flew fighters in the USAF, but the l-39 is, indeed, a fun and easy jet to fly and will always rate a 10 at whatever airport it lands. BTW, not to be picky, but the moniker should be "jet fighter", not fighter jet. Would you say a P-51 is a fighter prop? Somehow, over the years, the terms got turned around.
You obviously seem to know a few things about this. But I'm surprised by the fighter jet/jet fighter part. People call jet aircraft "Jets". They don't call prop planes Props. So we have "passenger jets", "Cargo Jets", "private jets".. would fighter jet just be the same as those?
Thanks for the info, My dream still lives. By the way how much was it to get your mechanics license.
Some people regard "jet"as a type of engine, and others see "jet" as a type of airplane. Also, some people think of "fighter" as a thing, and others think of "fighter" as a description. I can see how the order of terms would easily get switched around, and yet everybody would still be correct depending on which definitions they're using. And on top of that, the moment someone doesn't speak English, the rule of putting your description before the object you're describing goes out the window. In French, for example you say the thing first and then the description.
I figure, since these jet fighters and fighter jets are completely international, there will always be uncertainty about the order of those two words.
What's a 10 rating for airplanes?
@@Wasabi_Master As in 10 out of 10; you'll draw attention at any airport you land at.
Just found the channel - the numbers of aircraft ownership, love everything about it. Great commentary and content! Well done!
Hello there A10 dog fight person
Hewwo everybody
NO, NODAK?
I just found your channel but I absolutely love it. I'd love to see the breakdown for like a crazy executive jet, like the G5 or whatever all the billionaires are tooling around in these days.
Personally I prefer the Dassault falcon
Gulf Stream just launched the G700, base price is $68 million.
Do a Bombardier Global 7500.
......in my ride now I'm feeling so fly like a g5
@@LuciferXI gulf streams have the coolest sounds
A local pilot had an L-39 for a few years. I was amazing to see and hear it in the skies. He did offer joy flights to help offset the costs. He sold it some years ago sadly.
I really hope you do a video on the sub sonex soon. My family has a sonex and I’ve been considering the dive into the sub sonex recently
That's probably the video I enjoyed the most on this channel. I'd be curious to know more about other military-ish jets (the Fouga CM 170 Magister and AlphaJet come to mind immediately because they're used by the patrouille de France but the "big boys" Russian stuff are pretty fascinating too)
The first time I saw the Fouga I wanted one dearly. Who could say no to a cheap V-tail jet?
@@silverfox441 That's all relative. Compared to a C172 I think it would be sufficient.
@@JETZcorp Well... ua-cam.com/video/XpIvnmmKOqc/v-deo.html
Here I am, a grown ass man, dreaming about owning a fighter jet like I’m in 2nd grade or something. Some things never change
We can make our dreams happen. Let's get a 2 seater and split the cost 50/50 there I cut the cost in half for each of us😎
Never too late to earn your wings ! I highly recommend buying one
@@firefly9838 They are 2 seaters
I LOVE these videos. Very easy to soak in a lot of knowledge in a shot amount of time. As well as someone who's an outsider to aviation and doesn't know much of the ins and outs. It would be nice to see a mph/ kph as well as knots for speed.
Same, I prefer mph and km/h, cos knots varies with altitude and such. Ground speed my man. :)
For reference, 1 knot of true airspeed is 1.15 mph, so 100 knots is 115 mph (185 km/h).
@@thatguyalex2835 1 Knot is basically 1 nautical mile per hour
1 Knot is basically 1 nautical mile per hour
@@sidv4615 Yep, one nautical mile is 1.15 regular miles.
@@thatguyalex2835 Knots is no more altitude-dependant than km/h or mph. It's true that many key performance stats are altitude-dependant, but changing the units is not going to make the altitude-dependence go away.
I absolutely LOVE the commentary on all of these videos. ALWAYS SPOT ON!! BRAVO!!
This is now one of my favorite channels on UA-cam, thanks for the humor and information!
Glad I found your channel before it absolutely explodes, great videos keep it up!
These videos are very well done, accurate, and enjoyable. Thanks for making this content - subscribed! Oh, and I absolutely cannot afford the L-39 even if I am first to arrive to all the airshows 😎
Your format is awesome! I've binge watched everything since I found you! Super great stuff! Hilarious!
Absolutely love your channel sir, the hard to find factual layman's info on these planes, your satire and video quality is amazing. Hope to watch you climb over the coming year. Would love to see the piper archer 3 breakdown. Thats what i trained in when i got my private years ago. Also im scouring your videos because im 6ft 6in tall and i want to find the best plane for the money with leg room because the archer was a bit cramped and required the piolet side inner wall panel to be modified.
i love how you can do an honest and complete review an aircraft get all the most important details a buyer would want in, explain technical things in a helerious way and make them funny. if ever there was a man who should be doing product reviews it should be you. lol
really enjoy your content, keep it coming and happy new year
this is awesome i was waiting for this one for so long! very well done!
I just started getting interested in aviation and found your channel. Great video! Thanks!
Well, I'm sold on this! Thanks for the great (and concise!) video.
I love your humorous take on this!
I love these videos! Keep up the good work!
This video came up in my recommendations a couple of days ago, and I've already binged all the videos on the channel :)
Welcome!
This is AMAZING CONTENT. Keep up the good work.
Let's gooo, this is what we all have been waiting for! :)
Fantastic series of videos!
Just love the narrative!
Only you could make what is essentially an accounting video this funny.
Still waiting on the PC12 so I can compare it to the TBM.
Also, how about the Diamond DA62?
A comparison with the PC-12 would be more akin to a King Air or Citation. The TBM series doesn't fit the mission profile the -12 has.
But if it makes people realize how different the two then it would be a worthy analysis.
I clicked on one of your videos on accident while going to another and wasn't going to watch it but when i read the titles you got my interest peaking. I was under the assumption that planes cost an arm and a leg but some of these planes are about the same cost as a new car and very accessible. Thank you for this has really motivated me to get my pilots license
Wow, that's great to hear. Good luck with the license. The next plane I cover will be the least expensive yet. Thanks for watching
@@CompleteWalkaround I look forwards to it
Your videos are very entertaining and very helpful. I am in the market for a new plane but have watched all the videos since they are so funny. Thanks for the great content!!!
If you want to equip your Jet with two AIM-9 Sidewinder, to get a true fighter jet, you have to pay another 500.000 $, which is as much as the jet itself.
This summer I was on vacation a few kilometers away from Čáslav AFB in the Czech Republic and I saw two L-39s flying low to the ground over the village we were vacationing in. Amazing sight.
HELL YEAH cant wait to see the next videos, thanks for taking us down with you lol
You channel is amazing! I would love to see a video on the Piper Dakota! I’m looking into getting one.
That's what I subscribed for!
Brilliant video. Can you do costs on a more upmarket fighter jet next?
Can you do a cost to own an ADFX-01 Morgan? I think *IT’S TIME* someone looked into it ;)
That is what V2 is for
@@NickThePilotUSA
Weird this came up and thank you
I'm considering purchase of one of these and the vision jet. Can't wait to see your vision jet video as well
Got to fly an L39 in Santa Fe, was the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Can definitely agree it’s actually wicked easy to fly if you have any sort of jet time. Gotta say trailing link gear lives up to the hype.
Information as I'm chuckling. Sweet!
Cool video! Greetings from the control tower of Prague/Vodochody airport, the birthplace of L-39 Albatros! :-)
Greetings! 😄
Amazing job you're doing! Any chance to see a breakdown for a Lear 24? They're super cheap to buy, but I can't even imagine the running costs...
Yes please!
They're super cheap for a reason. At this point, they're throw-away jets. The fuel burn alone is astronomical. The maintenance costs of keeping on in the air are even higher.
I don’t make a habit of laughing at much, but your narratives always crack me up.😂
This is great! I would love to see a video on boeing stearman or a glasair III
"I didn't want to crush my dreams, but its to late now and you're coming down with me"
Hilarious, but I doubt you've quelled your own enthusiasm or anyone else's who is watching this video. It's clearly a channel for aviation nerds, but with its irreverent delivery, a welcome addition. I'm looking forward to the next "accountancy" video as promised. Please keep them coming
Your voice is so soothing
Im from Czechia and this is first time i heard about this plane :D Finally we are known for something actually good and not just hockey player or beer
Just found the channel. Great one mate 😀
Bob Lutz of GM had one of these as his personal plane/toy. Lots of great videos and articles about it.
Could be a fuzzy memory but I recall Bob Lutz was the hero and zero in one week. A student pilot was having engine trouble and Lutz talked him down to a landing at the Chrysler Proving Grounds. Later in the week, he forgot to lower the landing hear on his L-39 for a landing at Willow Run Airport. From what I recall, the rugged Albatross was lifted, had it landing gear lowered, and put through an inspection. The damage was mostly cosmetic and the L-39 soldiered on.
Great video!
This is the best cost breakdown I've seen for this jet thanks!! Crushed my dreams too LOL. Can you do a cost video on the Experimental BD-4? It might reignite your dreams of aircraft ownership =)
Very nice Video👍 Hope you will do one on the Alpha Jet as it is quite a good trainer too.
very excited for the subsonix video
Just found this channel, good stuff.
I was fortunate enough to do two days of upset recovery training in an L-39 with UAT in Kissimmee Florida. What a fun airplane to fly.
Happy New Year! Great start! How about F16 and F35? I want to buy them but would really love to have a number breakdown like these series beforehand. 🤣😆
Love the vids, could you make one about the PC 21?
Super underrated channel, and I'm loving it!!
As a request: Piper J3 Cub?
Thanks! I can
@@CompleteWalkaround Wow! Honestly wasn't expecting a response! You're awesome!!
Your video is a much needed resource in the community, especially to prospective pilots pondering the age-old decision, to keep renting pull the trigger. Thank you so much.
Request: Can you do a Maule video (MX-7, M7 and M9). Happy New Year and a prosperous 2022 to you and yours! 🎉
My father gave me some advice before he passed: "If it flies, floats or f***s; don't buy it, just rent."
Sometimes I wonder how wise he was, then I watch a soul crusher video like this and realize, dad knew things.
@@barrylinkiewich9688 You father was a funny man 😂 But the caveat to his advice should have been if you love it and use it often then buying will be cheaper within a very short amount of time.
Interior picture pleaseeeee. It'll save me a Google search and give another layer of detail in your videos. Keep up the great work.
my first video if this channel and i like this format alot
think you would do one vid on helos in the future ?
and you did it crushed my dreams of owning one
this is actually quite intresting, you should do the F4 Phantom next
If you haven't already, it would be cool to see one of these videos on the BD5-J!
My uncle owns one of these and after years of begging and a personal misfortune he finally trusted me enough to bring me up and at one day and let me tell you this is a powerful piece of machinery so you can only imagine what they have today
*Video Suggestions:*
It would be nice if you can make videos about, Ultra Lights, Para Planes, Private Jets and Helicopters
This is exactly what I need
thank you
Great video, how about those cricri planes? Or some other super small 1 seat aircrafts
Awesome video, would be cool to see one on the Cessna 195 :o
I saw a few in partially disassembled state but with all of the parts for sale at around $25-30k
Love your videos. Any chance you could do a video on Aerostars?
Thanks, Definitely
Hoping to see a breakdown video of the Extra 330 or any other aerobatic aircraft
Awesome, now all I need a the f15 breakdown so I can really judge the numbers for my new airforce
You should consider second hand MiG-21bis, they are very similar in operation, and are dirt cheap.
No point train your pilots in L-39s and put them in F-15s, it's no bueno.
@@LongTran-em6hc oh absolutely, I don't intend to train my pilots in these, I just wanted to compare the prices to see what I should comprise my fleet off
Would love to see a breakdown of the DA-62
Not sure if you would, but a video on the Beechcraft model 18 would be phenomenal.
Can you please do a cost of ownership on the folland gnat? They are faster than the Albatross but I don’t know how safe!
Love the videos! Just subscribed.
I never thought I would even wanna own any plane until watching this, what if we just got together and all pooled in a little bit to share the plane?
Good content, I myself would go with the two seater I might lose a little airspeed but it will be worth it when I get my buddy to hurl in the back seat. Lol
You're in luck, this is a two seater. Hurl away!
Only hope I have truly is to do one of those joint ownership things. Where it’s like 2-4 different pilots owning one plane, so every body takes a quarter of the total cost and total of the flight hours. Guess it does make it cheaper.
Wow thanks! Now I finally know that I cannot afford a fighter jet.
Could you do some float planes in tbe future? I would love to see that on this channel.
Awesome. Do the DC-3/C-47!
I think the SR-71 Blackbird would be the logical next video from here.
My vote was for a 747SP.
@@modelcitizen72 Maybe a 777 beforehand tho
Really? I was thinking a used Space Shuttle would be a modest next step.
Nice video
You should do one of these on the DC-3!
This was so fun 😂😂 humor at the best sorts 😂
I didn't even know this was possible, and then my short-lived dream was smothered.
Thoughts on doing a video on the MiG-21?
You should do a video for the AN-2
Please do the L-65 Seabear, thanks!
Do a DC-3!
I love those
Looking forward to an SF50!
How about doing a video on the Commander 690?
damn, i always wanted to start my own airforce. thanks for the video, it aint as expensive as i thought, so im buying 10
