He is the original Phantom in the Australian production of the musical, which opened in 1990. Anthony Warlow played the role on and off until 2009, as he reprised his role in 2007 at the Melbourne Princess Theatre when The Phantom of the Opera reopened. Warlow also played the part on the two-year tour of the show which visited Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide, as well as New Zealand. He appeared as a guest at the 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in October 2011 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

I have heard this aria performed by artists who are considered to be some of the best Phantoms, including Ramin Karimloo, Colm Wilkinson, John Owen - Jones and, of course Michael Crawford, but there is something in Anthony's voice, warmth in his tembre and how amazing he sounds in both low and high registers that makes it a stand - out. My daughter, her friend and I have a pleasure of seeing him in this role in original Australian production, and it was breathtaking. I think it was one of the rarest occasions, when an adult and 2 15year old girls spent entire drive home, which took over an hour, glazed- eyed and totally silent.
The reason I like your reactions is because you don't cut into the music, stop it to make commentary, rewind, or disjoint it. You let it flow and let it speak for itself. It's obvious when you are captured by a moment and swept along by the power of the piece by the singer. Farnsey, Barnesy, Warlow, some of the talented world of Oz (Australia).
Anthony had a thriving stage career with Phantom as his biggest role. He was to be Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar in 1992 [John Farnham was Christ], however he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and had to be away from the stage for a year or two. So glad we still have him and his magnificent voice.

Best phantom in the world. That song has such a range. Baritone to tenor. I saw a doco where Michael Crawford had such trouble hitting those high note. Anthony just drops them out casually.

I've loved Anthony Warlow from the first time I saw him in the original Australian production of Les Miserables. He played the student leader. I was spellbound by the whole production but came out of it saying "who the hell was that guy that played the student leader?" Because he was stunningly good and new to the scene. Immensely talented and also great comic actor. I've seen him play opera, G&S operetta in Pirates and Mikado, and musicals like Phantom, the Secret Garden and Jekyll and Hyde. So proud he's ours.

Anthony is an amazing opera singer, one of the best in my opinion. You should check out some of his earlier UA-cam videos, when he was a bit younger, I think he sounded even better. Like this song, Anthem, Bring him home are a few great ones.
I was soo disappointed when I saw Phantom in Sydney and Anthony has his health problems and had to be replaced. The guy that replaced him was brilliant and we all wished Anthony well going through his Chemo. But it’s such a magnificent role the Phantom of the Opera.

Mike, If you’d like to see how Anthony looked before he had lymphoma, look up “Bondi Vet” on UA-cam as Dr Chris Brown looks just like Anthony did when we first had the pleasure of seeing and hearing him. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed the resemblance.
I saw Anthony play the Phantom in Australia. I was around 18 at the time and I can still remember his voice over 25 years later. Micheal Crawford I think is better but to be honest it's hard to compare the 2 as they are both brilliant.

Anthony Warlow played the Phantom for 2 years in the Australian stage show. He also was part of the 20 year anniversary for Phantom of the Opera in London, where he sang along with Michael Crawford (original Phantom) and others who played the part, as well as the females who played Christine including Sarah Brightman. You should try and find the 20th Anniversary performance of Phantom of the Opera.
Anthony Warlow is my favourite phantom. None of the others that I’ve seen or heard have the same expressiveness except for Michael Crawford but his voice isn’t as good as Anthony.

He was simply divine as the phantom and I had a friend play some phantom music as I walked up the isle to be married and while we signed the registry and. Left the church it was the best part of my wedding that only lasted 6 yrs . Anthony has always been divine so so beautiful 😍 xoxo
