I've never seen anything so simple, and yet so "next level" in my life. That is fantastic. Great video!👍🍺🍻
Woww, thank you so much for this wonderful feedback!
Well said.
Perfect summation.
That's really fantastic, Felix! I never thought of doing something as simple as that. My 11 year old daughter Molly is very into bushcrafting and thinks the world of you. I trained her myself, using many of your vlogs as an example and she uses a small Swiss Army knife under my direction. We all agree your Chicken Rotisserie was an absolute blast! Hopefully next year we'll fly out to meet you. Stay safe buddy! ~Wendi
Haa ha haa, thank you so much Wendi!
Excellent and clever use of materials. Really enjoyed the video, my friend!
Thank you so much my friend!!! I'm looking forward to making a video with the oil lamp soon!!
Herzlichen Dank mein lieber Freund!
Brilliant! Much easier to make it from wood, than to forge from iron. In addition, you can make it at your campsite and do not have to carry heavy metal hangers with you. 😁
You are right Dennis!!
Felix
Great tips as always
I got 1 small tip for you:
The top of any pole you are going to hammer works much better if you give the top a small chamfer
The bottom is sharpened to a point to facilitate the driving in pole by concentrating the force of the blow into a much smaller area to open the way in the ground. Then the wedge part forces the ground open so the pole or stake can follow it
Now the reason for the slight chamfer on the top is to concentrate the force into the centre of the pole or stake. It makes it easier to strike and it also helps prevent the pole or stake from splitting if t it has a cracked grain or near a knot that takes the force of the blow towards the outside surface.
Just a slight chamfer. Maybe if your pole or stake is 50mm dia you make a 5mm chamfer all around so that the core is 40mm
Works well.
It will also work on your smaller wooden nails
Try it
Thanks again for all your good content
Keep on keeping on
Heads up
Eyes open
No fear
Thank you for your tip. You are right.
Excellent project as always. Best post hanger tutorial on UA-cam for sure. Well done Felix. You are a wonderful teacher. I will definitely make this on my next camping trip.
Thank you so much for your compliment!
Felix is bushcraft tier S -- he powers up with a great attitude and a Swiss Army Knife. 👍
Thanks a lot!
Felix didn’t you say your supposed to have your knife half way closed to baton a branch in half or risk damaging springs on your sak ? 🦊🐾🇮🇹
Yes, that's true. it depends on the diameter and the type of wood. You musst judge for yourself. whether the knife takes a damage or not.
Geile Sache...
Excellent as always! Another addition to versatile forest hardware. I could use this one in the garden along with the shelf from last week. Thank you Felix for keeping us inspired.
Your comment makes me happy!! Thank you!
Awesome. And It would be very nice if you make more original bushcraft furniture, like chairs, could be something simple to make, benches, chairs, tables... I like really your camp shelf.
Thanks for your inspiration!
Hmm, your skills are gonna come in handy soon… as soon as Russia finishes with Ukraine, there may be a few more places they may like to visit… How do I build a bomb proof shelter with my Swiss knife??🙂
I hope there will be peace there soon!
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👍👋❤️..🔥
Thanks a lot for your super nice support!
Hello from Detroit Michigan USA brother great video thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise and taking us on your adventure
Thank you so much for your fantastic support!
You are the best UA-camr
Thank you so much Omar!
I do The coter hook With a String . That also Works Fine.
Super idea. Thanks a lot!
Hi, Felix! What is the model you are using here? I bought Hantsman. In place of Climber, which I lost in weekend drink... But Hantsman is better, as I can see?
Yes i used a Huntsman. I like it ...for sure the Victorinox i use the most.
@@FelixImmler My dream came true!😏
That is a great hanging system. Very simple, elegant, and it works. Great video.
Hello Russel. Thank you so much!
Fabulous Felix! Not only bushcrafting, but simple physics too. I've never seen anything like it before. It seems all of the branches in Europe are incredibly straight. I don't think there is one straight branch in the USA. Thank you for passing on your knowledge to your viewers!
I need allways Hazel. You don't have hazel?
@@FelixImmler not to my knowledge. At least around Kansas.
Brilliant. I'm going to make one as well. Thank you for sharing.
Yes... try it out!
Thank you very much!!
felix düsentrieb in action!
Love that laugh after the pin is in! Genius! Thanks.
Thank you Paul 😆
Bonjour 🇲🇫 perfect as always!!!🍾🔥
One question/suggestion ?: Have you ever tried to do the '' Apache throwing star '' simple and difficult in the same Time? ( Kind of hunting boomerang who don't return 😉)
Thanks a lot
I made a boomerang who doesn't return reliable, haaa ha haa 😂😂 ua-cam.com/video/wH8Z3gg6zUM/v-deo.html
Hello from Ibiza!
Love this weeks project - super cool.
I have a question, I’ve never seen you using a SAK alox farmer. Wondered why🤔🤔🤔
Adiós amigo!
I basicly like the ALOX-Models. But i like to whittle... the small blade is super important for me. This is what i miss on the alox models.
Did you see my comment about rounding the end of SAK saw,?? It's more comfortable for your thumb nail, and helps stop the end of the saw, from sticking in the saw cut,, I've smoothed mine, with sandpaper, and polished it on the strop,,
big improvement, I think,, 👍👍. All the best Felix,,,,,,,, 😀
Hey John. I can't remember right now. but it sounds interessting. Can you send me some pictures from your idea via e mail. You find my adress on my webside.
What kind of wood do you use for carving? I would really like to know. We are really enjoying your video's btw. We would like to see you make the ultimate utensil, THE SPORK!! Kind regards ~ Marijn and Simon
Thanks a lot for your inspiration!
Ingenious idea Felix, very simple and yet the best pot hanging system I have seen for bushcraft. Thank you for sharing Felix.
Thank you for watching!
Wonderful video! I'm impressed with the Swiss Army knife saw. I thought it was for twigs half that thick. I'm going to have to grab one!
Super! Have fun!
As always, it's a pleasure to watch your videos Félix. They are great. I especially liked this one. The idea is fantastic. By the way, my congratulations to the camera: good images 😉. We wait for the next video. 👍😉
I am super happy about your camera compliment. I think allways i am the worst cameraman ever!
DaVinci said “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” This is excellent!!
Thank you Felix.😊✌🏻
Thank you very much!!
Great project!
Thanks for sharing my brother!
Stay safe and keep having fun!
Thank you for watching my video!
Fantastic ! Awesome video ! Love that you only used a Swiss Army knife to make it !
I love mine , I use it for every thing
My buddies jokingly call it my Swiss Army tool box i use it so much.
😂😂😂😂
If you leave the Y parts long, you can use them as pot & cup hangers 👍
You're so lucky the wood in Switzerland is so soft !
There's not a single Australian wood I could do it this easily with !
Switzerland also has disadvantages. The population density is so high that every tree belongs to someone..
Pure brilliance. No wonder I've heard you referred to as the Wizard of Bushcrafting.
Thanks a lot for this wonderful feedback!
What a great pot hanger, very versatile and not as complicated to make as sum. I predict this will become everyone’s favourite pot hanger . Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot for your compliment!!
Beautiful bushcraftness 😎.Best wishes from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hello Mark. Thanks a lot!
bel progetto amico Felix. un saluto!
Grazie mon amico!
Mr. Immler is so good, that the next project will probably have 5G connection.
Haa ha haa thank you!
Amazing, we learn so much from you.
Many thanks.
David in the UK.
Thanks a lot David!
MacGuyver who? A simple yet elegant solution! Pure genius my friend.
Thank you very much!
👋🇧🇾🤘Thank's a lot! This is great idea 👍👍👍!!!
Thanks a lot!!
That's a fantastic idea... I feel like my camping skills just went up several points.
Thank you for this compliment!
Fantastic, this is the Felix that makes his channel head and shoulders above any other similar on UA-cam, thanks for what you do Felix I love this stuff.
Thanks a lot Bruce!
That's awesome brother. 👍😎👍
Thank you😂!
Gorgeous simplicity! My only thought: a glob of pitch in the fork and hook contacts, where they rest against the post, for a bit better friction against sliding?
Thank you Anthony. This isn't necessary inmy opinion..
Very smart idea my friend. Thanks a lot for share your knowledge. Best regards from north of Mexico!!
Gracias Luis!
Very cool project Felix, the effort is absolut worth it for a permanent camp, thanks for sharing, Taro
Thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been wondering how this was made!
Thanks a lot for watching my video Kirsten!
Great video. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts U S A .
Thank you Jennifer. Greetings from Switzerland
I subscribe to James Townsend and sons UA-cam channel he made a primitive shelter and he used black locust or honey locust thorns as roofing nails they worked very well I have used them for projects here at home myself do you have any locust trees and thorns thorns in your area
We rarely have robinia trees in my area.. but there are more of them in the south of Switzerland
LG
I learn so much from you and really appreciate your video’s 🍻
How about a look at the view from your camp!
Ufff i forgot to film something like this...sorry!
Nice one felix I am a big fan of victorinox knives it's the only brand I used for my butchering 👌
Wowww, nice to hear that. Thank you!
Helloooo Felix! I haven’t seen you since you went on holiday for the winter. Hope you are well, and glad to see you back. 🙂
Hello Jim. Yes i had a wonderful break. Thank you!
Hey gude Felix,
Danke!
Eberytime i hear "hello UA-cam", my mood immidiately brightens up. Love your videos, my good man, keep them coming. Gopferdeckl....
Haaa ha haa Gopferdeckel!! 😂😂😂
Hi Felix. Das war noch a'moi super. Schlicht und einfach und so effective! War das the Huntsman (mein Messer)? Bleib gesund und LG. Nigel.
Hallo Nigel. ja, das war das Huntsman!
Wow. Always interesting to watch...and learn from you.
merci bien!
Beautiful idea and build. Great job! Tip: If you chamfer the top of the pole that you are hammering, it will not mushroom or splinter. Until next time. Please be careful Felix, it is getting bad over there. 🙏
Schöne Idee und Aufbau. Gut gemacht! 🙏
Hello Richard. Thank you for your Tips!!!
Interesting project! I will have to give it a try sometime on a bush-craft adventure.
hello Michael. Yes give it a try!
wonderful video safe journeys
Thank you for your support!
That is one brilliant setup. And no cordage either. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for watching James..
LG +Ewig Gut
Freut mich das zu hören...danke!
Very interesting! I've never seen that before! I sure hadn't thought of it. Great idea and video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks a lot for taking the time and watching my video!
well done. At that last step, I might have left it long and notched the end to hang a small coffee pot on. Great idea though - I'm a new subscriber
Thanks a lot!
I love your book. I wish I had it when I was a child.
We gave two away for Christmas.
Hello Martha. Thank you so much for your support!!!
So simple yet so brilliant and useful! Thank you for another great video!
Hallo brian. Thank you for watching and commenting!
A very cozy camp site, and another ingenious invention. It's too bad about the chain saw. I heard it too.
Yes... that's annoying. I recorded the video with the Rode Go Lavalier microphone. I was amazed how little the chainsaw can be heard on the video.
i did this day before yesterday, i used a shear lash instead of a pin, the Y was below and my 7 was the boom.. iknew, as i was lashing it, that a pin would work too lol. great work as always!!
Thank you for your tips!
🤣 Dr Schluss chani sehr guet nache füehle. Dä huere Krach vo dene Kettesagi isch nervtötend, i ha sone Nachbar wo so sis Brennholz saget.
Super cool dä Pot Halter. Würklech sehr clever👍 Gruess u schöns Weekend✌️
Dankä viel mol Burnhard 😂😂😂
Impressive! Just so you know I was in the US Air Force for 22 years and 3 months. When I went through survival training, which was part of earning my wings, I purchased a Swiss Army knife, the Huntsman, as my go to tool. That was in 1991-- 33 years later I still use that knife today almost on a daily basis. I never met a knife I didn't like, but the Huntsman fulfilled every requirement, every need and met every challenge. A knife is a "no-go" item that you must have anytime you fly. The Huntsman never failed me. It still looks as new as the day I purchased it. That my friend is Swiss engineering. Something I hope your country is proud of.
Hallo Felix, tolles Projekt. Macht immer Laune dir zuzusehen, wie viel Spaß du dabei hast.
Vielen lieben Dank
Enjoy your video! Thank you for showing us how to make something ,and not buy things .
Your comment makes me happy!
Another feel good video from Felix !! Thanks Felix !!
Hello Stephane. Thank you for watching my video!
Keep calm,AND be More Félix🇦🇷💪chiao!👏
Thank you Nicolas!
Brilliant Felix.... a mortal Gandalf 😃
Felix, you genius! A dilemma I have had for years. You solved it. Who's the smarty-pants now? Lol! Thank you! Let me impress my grandchildren more!
i am so happy to hear that! Is Martha Benner your wife?
@@FelixImmler Martha is my youngest daughter. My wife is in the final stage of Alzheimer's, I'm sad to say.
Woods needs less chainsaws and more swiss army knives 😁
However, simple and genius project,
Thanks for the video Felix.
Haa ha haa you are right!! 😁😁
Absolutely fantastic,, thanks for showing us this one,, you are truly an inspiration,,, 😀
Thank you very much dear John!
Brilliant! I've just subscribed. I have never been a fan of multi-tools, but you are converting me to the SAK. So many possibilities! I think I want to get the Army Ranger Grip 57. I'll have to see if I can adapt some of your modification to this larger model of SAK.
Good idea! So you are a hunter?
@@FelixImmler Good question. Truthfully, I only hunt a little. I'm thinking the RangerGrip 79 might be a better choice and I may may be more likely to carry it with only 3 layers instead of 4. Thanks Felix!
Very interesting idea! I wonder, how many days have you spent at that place?
The camp is quite new. I was may be 6 days there
Sir, you continue to amaze. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks a lot for your positive feedback!
Your amazing skills make camping very civilized.
Thank you Craig!
Happy Friday Chef Felix, I am assuming your knife is the 91mm Huntsman, one of my 2 favorite combined urban & countryside use 4 layer SAKS ( the other is the Farmer X ). You could have shown one of the ideal uses of the Parcel Hook ( which a lot of folk think is pointless in the digital age ) by using it to lift the pot by its handle thus making sure that you don't burn your hand on a hot metal handle. Its also been used by me to lift up barbed wire & stretch and bend wires & lift the hot steel grid used over a BBQ cooker and of course to keep the large pressurized pen secure in the parcel hooks channel for ease of writing. One thing you have not mentioned in your camping videos so far is what do you cook when you camp out in the forest?
Thank you for your inspirations, tips and hints!
@@FelixImmler I am but a novice compared to you Felix, your SAK tips have helped thousands of SAK users to better use their multi-tool SAKs
Outstanding! What a great way to do a pot hangar! Best I've seen!
Thank you so much!!
How can you not love that guy. Chow!
Felix, you've do it once again. Shown us something very useful and simple and it might be adapted for other uses, say scale it up a bit and use a small sapling as the upright to hang a lantern etc.
Whant a great idea from you!
Absolutely brilliant best I’ve ever seen 👍 simple to build / use .that why I love this channel
Thanks a lot John!
This is known as the Gibbet Aures Campfire Crane. The crane is named after Victor Aures, a Scout Master from Buffalo, NY. There is a good article on this from an issue of the Boy’s Life from 1915. The system is also depicted in Horace Kephart's Book Camp-lore and Woodcraft. I got my first sight of it on George Aitchison's BLOG 'Bushcraft Days' back in 2015 where he has a detailed step by step guide with pictures. My own version can be viewed on my own Community Page, in fact, I gave you a mention there too. 😏👍😉
Thank you so much for this super interesting comment... and thanks a lot for mention me on your community page!
Great comment, I've subscribed your page also
@@marko7969 Thank you. I will have another 'crane' coming in the future videos.
Great Felix! Just great, congrats and thanks for share!
Thank you ma friend!
