I can't tell if he synced his voice to the scrolling title on purpose or on accident. He managed to say "strange telephone" twice with the roll of the title.
@@Laura-bq4uu ~ $5, on Steam. I just bought it, definitely worth it from what Manly showed of it, so I wanna support the developer. (And I don't wanna wait until the next episode to see the rest.)
I can’t exactly discern if there’s any profound significance to this, or whether I’m merely drawing a tenuous connection between disparate bits of imagery, but the individual at the end who experimented with incandescent light bulbs might be Thomas Edison, who was a contemporary of the man credited with the invention of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell (your green phone companion being an evident reference to him). The location “Truth Eyes” discusses electrical signals, which also relates to this undercurrent (excuse the terrible pun) of technological advancements associated with electromagnetism and the overall theme of invention. I’m not sure of the interrelation between this and the girl’s surreal journey traipsing through various worlds, beyond the phone being the conduit for her movement. The phone and her camera are also a little reminiscent of 1930s style while her waking reality is decidedly more modern technologically. Again, whether this is purposeful or simply an aesthetic choice with no greater depth narrative-wise, I can’t exactly say. As a lover and owner of antique technology, this sort of thing just happened to stand out to me. Regardless, this was a creative, fascinating little experience.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Strange Telephone. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Tomas's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Strange Telephone truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Alexander Grahan's existential catchphrase "Fuck you, Thomas Edison you thief" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Strange Telephone's genius wit unfolds itself on their PC screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Strange Telephone tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
Hi. I know this comment was made a year ago, but I'd be interested to learn what kind of "antique technology" you've got. If you were to make a video showcasing some of it, I think I'd watch it. I've subscribed, for now, in hopes you take my suggestion seriously.

A very unique game, but also intriguing. Definitely can see the Yume Nikki vibes, but I'm curious with where this is going. Keep up the fun, Manly. God bless yours and you! :)
Had a feeling this would be up Manly’s alley. True ending was the first real ending I got as well (I actually found it harder to get the normal endings than I did the true ending, but I know other people have had a different experience on that front).
35:05 Graham? If that's Graham Bell, Why the heck is he doing the Tesla lightbulb thing? Fun Fact: Graham and Tesla had a race to see who could make the first working telephone.
*Me checking the switch store*:oh,this look neat...why do i get the feeling that manly probably as played this... *2 min later* Oh well, lets watch this.
Whoa, it's like playing Submachine all over again, and is specifically closest to Submachine: Universe. Even with only three digits on the transporter, finding things is hard because locations don't overlap like in Strange Telephone. You _can_ just jump randomly like you can here, I guess, but there being 1,000 possible locations makes this more tedious than in this game since they don't repeat or overlap like the 2,985,984 possible locations in this game do.
@Ice Yeah a lot of mobile games suck but I'm talking about ALL mobile game. Saying ALL mobile games suck means this game, Strange Telephone is also bad. In my opinion it's a good game so not all mobile games are bad, there are exceptions. I've also played Witch's Isle on Android, and it's an adventure game I recommend to anyone who dislikes mobile games
Hey Manly! I always loved your let's plays. Last year I was at the Tokyo Game Show and got to play the demo of Necrobarista: www.necrobarista.com/ It should come to Steam this year: store.steampowered.com/app/725270/Necrobarista/ It's a cinematic 3D Visual Novel. The atmosphere was really well done and the setting is pretty unique! I thought it might interest you. Hope you see this!
+Ludwig Rañola He streamed the demo - check out his Twitch. Also the full game first comes out on Jan 25, today is Jan 22. Even MBH isn't powerful enough to play something before it's released...
Manly is hip with the kids now

spooky
We finally did it. We finally found out who was phone.
I feel like this game's OST justifies the price alone. Such nice tracks. The art style is great too, and all the different levels are creative.
How much is it?

I took me a second, but the blocks above the character in the main menu say Psycho Phone. I'm only a minute in, so maybe they reveal that later?
