    Graham, the Administrator and founder of Gearspace, I hereby challenge you to a live streamed debate on free speech!

      Graham is a tool and a knob. He's the main reason I stopped participating in Gearspace back in 2009.

      @@EdPettersenI started on gearspace back in 2009. For the most part I really like the community there. What I do not like when anonymous moderators can just delete messages that I may have taken a half hour or sometimes an hour to type out.
      And if you publicly call out the moderators who are anonymous to send you a private message, you will get another infraction on your account! 😂

      @@RealHomeRecording Oh, I know my brother. I started there back in the late 90's I think (?) with Bob Olhsson but after a while it became so domineering and megalomaniacal it just wasn't good for my mental well being so I bailed. Plus, Graham himself screwed me over on something once but that's a whole 'nother story. No thanks. Not worth my time.

      Graham is clearly in favor of censorship, Fascism upholds the capitalist greed system historically and censorship is always used. It's a sad day on Gearspace.

      @@EdPetterseni love Bob's posts. When I happen to cross some of the older pre 2007 posts, I better understand why gear sloots used to be so popular among true professionals.
      One of the most egregious things they ever did though was removing Michael Joly.

    Acustica weren't the first to do dynamic hardware sampling. The Focusrite Liquid Channel (preamps and compressors) was released years before Acustica Audio became a company. Later, the Liquid Mix added convolution based equalizer via SHARC DSP chips.

    I've been banned from at least 3 Acustica thread for just mentioning I was banned from the main Acqua thread.
    In fact yesterday after they shut the main Acqua thread down, an Acqua part II thread was started and in that thread Graham posted that the Acqua I thread would be reopened.. I asked Graham if when it opened could I have my ban removed as it's been 2 yeas and I never violated any forum rules to begin with, several other posters commented too. I was then banned from that Acqua Part II thread, lol.
    So Gearspace will ban for posting questions to mods or for just mentioning the censorship on Gearspace.

      OMG that's terrible. I'm very familiar with your posts over on GS it's funny and sad that they banned you from the new thread.
      You're always welcome here, Will.

      I think it's absolutely ridiculous the way you've been treated, Will. So many positive changes came from your persistence on issues (Ebony Reverb, Gold 2254, etc). You're a very important voice in anything Acustica-related.

    BTW, Adam, Camel is T*ident if you need that flavor. 😎

      Camel is one that I never tried so thank you for that tip! I think I may have downloaded it recently but the Trial period had expired. It's something outside of my control/how Acustica's Aquarius system works.

      Classic old Acustica, brother. You can get it for peanuts now. Hella punchy.

    Interesting... Thanks for the heads-up about the censorship. I haven't been there hardly at all since the name change. Sad

    I trust unlicensed and not endorsed products more than official ones. I've always speculated that they could intentionally make software sound a little worse than hardware in order to avoid sales losses.

    • @WillTheWeirdo
      @WillTheWeirdo 3 місяці тому +1

      Acustica's plugins while good do not sound as good as the hardware they sample, and in fact once you factor in the converter used and the very fact that the Nat4 sampler does not allow driving the hardware, it's easy to realize the sonic differences between the hardware and the Acqua. Add to that the library developer has a lot of library control in the final sound in Nat4 you quickly realize you can only get close to hardware sound but in a limited way. So your argument floats on the surface, but it sinks as you learn the inside of Nat4 IMHO.

      @@WillTheWeirdospeaking specifically about equalizers, the ones that I compared to EQs on Access Analog/MixAnalog faired very well. Pink C vs. an api 5500 and Purple vs a Pultec. Gold vs. vintage Neve EQs.
      Compressors are a little more difficult to match, in my experience and the AA ones have improved with the hyper tech.
      Saturation is getting very close to hardware level with Wine. Did you try that one? For a bit there, I was a little concerned about the newer equalizers sounding a little bit too "clean". I think what's going on though is I normally have the preamps disabled with previous acqua plugins. The equalizers would still have some of that analog flavor baked in... but the Hyper ones are completely devoid of saturation unless you have the preamp enabled.

    What an absolute trainwreck. Sound Techniques people were completely unhinged over SPECULATION.

    • @WillTheWeirdo
      @WillTheWeirdo 3 місяці тому +1

      As Sound Techniques is a small restart company all Giancarlo had to do was either license with ST or not use the console coloring scheme. Also naming it after the Sound Techniques Sunset Sound channel strip colab was also not smart. While I've directly posted about the ethical and legal arguments and copyright law in the main Acqua thread, including court rulings, it is still a grey area the courts have not dug into or ruled on. So Sound Techniques has a right to pursue the matter if they want, IMHO it will be costly and I believe they will ultimately loose in the end, but they have a legal right to push the issue with AA... that all could EASILY be avoided if AA had better business practices IMHO.

      I think the British airship knob was what triggered everything. But yeah, what they fail to understand is recording consoles and low priced audio software are entirely different consumer categories.
      As much as I would love to buy one of their recording consoles, I just don't have the cash to make that happen. But if I did, I wouldn't choose software which does little to nothing to sell a studio to potential customers.
      There is a local studio that has a standalone location and is filled with cool hardware. They are booked out 90 days in advance and it's a struggle to get people to record in Studio A. The gear... including musical instruments...sells the services! People are willing to pay a premium price to record even for a day in a fancy studio for Instagram and that kind of thing.

      Thankfully the internet as a whole is not censored.
