Thank you Jennifer! Your instructions and worksheet PDF are perfect! My new Bible cover is so nice, and fits like a glove. It was easy to make, is lovely to look at, and will protect my new Bible for years to come.
Thank you for watching! Happy sewing! ~Leah
I absolutely appreciate how you take the time to do step by step! Thank you so very much, this beginner is so very thankful!
Yay! That is sincerely so awesome to hear! Thank you for your feedback and positivity!
WOW! I'm so glad I found this, I knew how to do the corners that way, but not how to join the binding at the end, Brilliant! Thank You for sharing this.
We're happy this tutorial has inspired you. Thank you for watching!! ✨ -Michelle
Thank you so much for the tip about twisting the edge of the binding before sewing on the diagonal. I have used this method to finish bindings but often got the pieces twisted and would have to rip the diagonal seam out sometimes more than once! I'm looking forward to trying you trick the next time I finish a binding strip. Always enjoy you videos.
This trick is so great to use and, as always, practice makes perfect! Thank you so much for watching and have fun with your next binding :)
Love these videos. Easy to follow & understand. Thank you!
So glad you found it helpful! - Morgan
This is cute and practical. Love the fabrics. 😍

I made one of these on Monday for a friends Christmas present-it was so easy and fast! Going to make another today! Happy sewing. Merry Christmas and many blessings in the New Year. I love you Shabby Fabrics 💕
Hi Cathy! That's so sweet! Thank you for watching and Merry Christmas! - Sophie
That binding technique - WOW!
Isn't it great?! So glad you like it too! - Morgan
Jen, I love your tutorials! I have used that method of joining the binding ends for a couple years now and have never been disappointed in how it fits and looks. Through trial and error, I've found that leaving the un-sewn gap between the beginning and ending wider, then folding the quilt over and securing it with Wonder clips helps free up more room to work and make it a bit less awkward.
That is a GREAT tip! Thank you so much for watching and sharing this trick with us!
very nice and functional ... I love it .. thank you
Thank you so much for the love!
OH JEN!! I love you! You have stop though! lol I need another LIFE to finish all these cool projects you post. I've made this before but as usual, your way is better!!
Lol.. That's a good problem to have, right?! ;) Thank you for watching and supporting us, though. We appreciate it so much! - Morgan
Gosh, I really enjoyed this video. I wish I could have found you years ago!
Thank you for watching! We're so glad you found us! - Sophie
This was fun but I am amazed out how easy it was to do the finish of the binding. Where have you been for 40 yrs. LOL. Love the carrier.
Isn't that technique amazing?! Such a great trick and so easy, too! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Hi and thanks a lot! 🌸🌸 And happy 2020!
Thank you Mariette! Happy New Year! ~Leah
Another great video. I am waiting for the sewing 101 videos then I can try these projects. Thanks
It is in the works- don't worry!! :)
Jennifer, your tutorials are so easy to understand, even a beginner like me can easily follow them and recreate fantastic items. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to use that insulated lining like one would use for potholders, etc. so as to keep the casserole warm/cold? Would that work as well?
That is a great idea- it would absolutely work! Thank you so much for watching and for leaving this kind comment and idea!
Thank you sew much for another wonderful tutorial! Jen, would you, could you, if you pretty please, do a tutorial to show how to install a lace zipper? I would also love to see a video of the sewing machines you use and what you use each machine for. :)
We will absolutely add it to the suggestion list! Thank you!
Who thought of this? It's great! Thanks.
Isn't this such a handy project?! Thank you for watching!
Awesome! Do you any tutorials on binding a mini quilt/ wall hanging?
The technique shown in this video would absolutely work for binding a mini quilt or wall hanging!
Love this way to make the padded holder. Can I make one oblong for rectangle dishes?
Thank you for watching! We have not made this one for rectangle dishes. However, we do have a Quilt As You Go Casserole Caddy available on our website that is basically this same thing just for casserole dishes! Let me know if you have any other questions! ~Leah
Do you have pattern for cute grey fabric pin holder? I love playing board games and great for pieces.😊
Hi Susan! We don't have a pattern for this, but you can find free tutorials by searching "fabric tray tutorial" on Pinterest! ~Leah
Do you have a video how on to make one with spoon handles
Unfortunately, we do not!
What size D-rings do you use? I love your videos!
We're so glad this project inspires you! We used 1" D-rings for this project. Thanks so much for watching! -Michelle
What size would I need to make it to fit a 9×13in pan?
By my best guess you would cut your outer fabric, lining fabric, and fusible fleece to double the pan measurements. So all of your fabrics would measure 18"x26" and that should work fine. You will also need to cut a longer binding strip than what is listed on our free download. You can get that measurement more accurately after you have quilted the outer fabric, lining fabric, and fleece together!
@@ShabbyFabrics That size does not work for a 9x13 pan..at least I could not get it to work.
Hi Jennifer, do you think you can apply that idea to a yoga mat bag?
It should! You would just measure the mat and make adjustments as necessary!
Thanks for responding! This is like an updated, awesome version of Japanese furoshiki, with its knots and ties replaced with d-rings and straps.
what other pen or marker do you recommend?
We love the Sewline Fabric Pencil! It is a white pencil that can be easily erased with a polymer eraser or a damp cloth! Here is a link to it: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Sewline-Fabric-Pencil-White-13mm-P47432.aspx
Can this be used with a 9 X 13 pan?
It would probably be a bit snug but you can always add length to the measurements to adjust for your needs :)

Hi There,
I can't find what size to cut the carrier handle. Is there written directions also. Thank you
Hi Janet, I have included a link to the free downloadable pattern below. I hope this information helps! -Bethany
www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/283/how-to-make-a-potluck-dish-carrier?
Can this be made with just a yard of fabric, assuming that I was everything to be the same pattern ?
You will most likely need more than a year because of the binding and accent strips. Here is the free cutting guide download that shows all of the pieces you will need: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/PotluckDishCarrier_forDownload.pdf
I bind in this manner. Leave a little longer tails and it isn't quite so tight. also didn't understand twisting one tail
Great idea to leave the tails longer! That's how the technique that Tammy taught us works, and we love it! We filmed a video on binding that we use now and it's a little easier (similar method, but you don't twist the tails). You can watch that tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/EaP3k_fE1LA/v-deo.html
Let us know what you think about that one! :) - Morgan
How long is the strap for this carrier
We have a link with a measurement download that will help you! Here is the link: www.shabbyfabrics.com/free-downloads-and-video/283/how-to-make-a-potluck-dish-carrier Hope this helps and thanks for your comment! - Abby

How do you make this for a 9x13?
This project was designed to accommodate a square or circular shape. At this time, we do not have a variation for this project in a rectangular shape. -Michelle
🤔😱😳😮😯😶🙄🤔😁got it!
