These folks are at 22k of a $130k Kickstarter goal. All or nothing to produce - They've responded to comments on Kickstarter that this Time Teller video is part of their final marketing push to try and make their goal. They're not gonna make it by Jan 10th (their deadline). It seems like an okay watch but the kickstarter seems overkill and how many submariner/tudor homages do we really need? There isn't even a link to the kickstarter for people watching this video to click. I might be curious to see if they re-launch in a more traditional fashion at some point perhaps.
I love symmetrical dials and for me, the 6 o'clock is the preferred date location. And the logo looks like a menorah to me. I like it. Very nice watch and even better review as always.
I saw their kickstarter. They are including a horween leather strap. Horween leather is world famous and is considered the best leather factory in the US. The production unit will have a black date wheel I think. Looks like forteller is less than 1/3 the way to their goal. Hopefully, they'll reach their goal. I'll support their KS. Thanks for the review.
How are they able to provide so much for so little? As you were describing the specs and showing the macros, I couldn't help but to guess $500 to $650 USD. I am blown away they are offering it for barely over $200...worldwide shipping included!! INSANE!!!
Two years after Jory's review, I'm happy to have gotten a production Cambrian (blue dial) and am thrilled with this beautiful watch. I can say that Jory's concern with the prototype's date wheel/window was resolved...mine at least is perfectly aligned. (Also the production models have color-matched date wheels.) This watch was the microbrand bargain of the decade!
The Cambrian lasted 55.6 million years from the end of the preceding Ediacaran Period 541 million years ago (mya) to the beginning of the Ordovician Period 485.4 mya.
For anyone who is interested in a thorough review of this piece, an informed, in-depth and succinct review, instead of someone only interested in the sound of their own voice, try the review of this Forteller by WR4K, he actually knows what a Horween strap is... etc etc.
This would be a great gift for an active teenage 15 and up, who hangs at the beach and does a lot of water activities. Start into automatic watch and no excuse their phone died and they didn't know what time it was.
Heck it would be a good grab an go watch for almost anyone thats into water sports. NO not that kind of water sports that seems like a casio kind of thing!
Even my crown aligns perfectly horizontal tothe case on my watch. I got #45 of the blue dial. The bezel is good enough to set blind if you needed to. I can count the clicks and end up exactly where I need to be. The date is definitely difficult to see later in the month. Each number eventually lines up I think but it also spends a lot of time in between. My prx has a snap change of the date and is always perfectly aligned but it doesn’t discourage me from daily wearing the Cambrian
Beautiful watch and priced right for a budget like mine. I see your point about the hommage vibe, and appreciate your comment as to being able to consider a watch that might give off those vibes but still hold its own identity and therefore not be casually distegarded.
Nice job and a watch roll makes much more sense than a neglected box which sits on the shelf ( observation noted ) lol. Regarding the date wheel, the #8 vs the #2 may make it appear to favor the right side, but it is off just a tad bit. Good looking watch and a fantastic value. I recall a few other Scandinavian based watch companies who put out some decent pieces, but this one seems to check more of the boxes. I just checked their site and the date windows will be black w white #'s. It's kinda confusing regarding their Kickstarter program, but I will get to the bottom of it all. As always, nice job...
