    Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.
    In the year 2330, humanity has ventured beyond our solar system, settling new planets, and living as a spacefaring people. You will join Constellation - the last group of space explorers seeking rare artifacts throughout the galaxy - and navigate the vast expanse of space in Bethesda Game Studios’ biggest and most ambitious game.
    Tell Your story
    In Starfield the most important story is the one you tell with your character. Start your journey by customizing your appearance and deciding your Background and Traits. Will you be an experienced explorer, a charming diplomat, a stealthy cyber runner, or something else entirely? The choice is yours. Decide who you will be and what you will become.
    Explore Outer Space
    Venture through the stars and explore more than 1000 planets. Navigate bustling cities, explore dangerous bases, and traverse wild landscapes. Meet and recruit a memorable cast of characters, join in the adventures of various factions, and embark on quests across the Settled Systems. A new story or experience is always waiting to be discovered.
    Captain the Ship Of Your Dreams
    Pilot and command the ship of your dreams. Personalize the look of your ship, modify critical systems including weapons and shields, and assign crew members to provide unique bonuses. In deep space you will engage in high-stakes dogfights, encounter random missions, dock at star stations, and even board and commandeer enemy ships to add to your collection.
    Discover, Collect, Build
    Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. Invest these raw materials into research projects to unlock unique crafting recipes.
    Lock and Load
    Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.

    Man I don't know after playing other games it's REALLY hard to like Starfield - it feels so insanely under-baked and lazy - it's like they let procedural generation create the entire game and then barely touched it up. Quests are bland and/or downright don't make sense, ship combat is super simplistic click and hold, the leveling and skill system is frustrating because it's both level gated AND tier-gated plus about 70% of skills are near useless filler, crafting is WORSE because it's level gated, tier-gated, AND you have to do mindless dump resources in the trashcan for no reason to "research" the privilege to put a barrel on your gun, you can't scrap junk for crafting, you can't pull mods off of guns like other bethesda games,, the exploration is non-existent - hey look everything is already explored and it's the SAME DAMN SCIENCE FACILITY OR CAVE ON EVERY PLANET, the main story line quest is a 2 minute nothing burger string of fetch quests written by an 8 year old, , the magic powers are just the same dragon shouts from skyrim, 99% of ALL enemies in the game are the same generic space suit guy....literally every single system and sub-system in this game feels like a bland copy-paste from a different better game, as if Bethesda spent 7 years in an office staring at an idea board, and then 2 weeks before launch went OH SH** slap some copy pasted crap together and ship it! I realized like 95% of my game play I was frustrated and bored, I quit looting entirely, exploring sucks, looting sucks, combat A.I. sucks, like just literally everything sucks. SIGHHHH

    Starfield is the only Bethesda game I’ve ever quit. Thousands of hours in the other titles but couldn’t get past 12 hours in starfield. Starfield is very outdated in the matter of the fact that the game design, its low quality quest, and uneventful story writings make you feel stupid.
    White other RPGs are immersive and thematic, Starfield makes you feel the same old sandbox since you were a child. Need a helping hand and text galore to guide you around the game.
    The industry standard have moved past beyond Bethesda's game design.

  • @DannyBeigal
    @DannyBeigal 11 місяців тому +6

    Yes… It’s boring and outdated. Case in point… Parts of the game that are supposed tense where guns could be drawn if the conversation goes the wrong way fail to provide tension and end up seeming like casual conversations. The characters faces are soulless and don’t show any expression in those situations other than their “angry” eyebrows. The loading screen situation is outdated.
    Watching the video… all the “that’s fair, but it doesn’t bother me” is hilarious. Kept me laughing. Glad ppl like the game, but it could’ve been better if they went the route of making the game immersive and fun.
    Less NASA and leaning more towards Guardians of the Galaxy would’ve given the game something new and fresh outside the Bethesda mold.

    IMO Starfield is the WORST game ever made. Its so boring... and soulless... this game was made to be as inoffensive as possible. There is nothing thought provoking in it. The writing s*cks balls. I think what creates this rough division between people that love that game and the people who hate it, is this emptiness on the planets and this feeling that you are not truly exploring a planet, but really small (in comparison to the size of a planet) maps. Not everyone can appreciate just walking through a terrain with the landscape being the only main attraction.
    I agree 100% when you state that it’s impossible to create 1000 planets hand crafted with the same level of detail and things to do as the maps in games like RDR or Elden Ring, reason why I think people, at least, disliked this game, myself included. I rather have one huge handcrafted map, like RDR’s, crossable by train, horse or any mean of transportation, that feels connected, cohesive and alive, with no destructive loading screens or stuff that could damage that immersion, plus a strong well-tended main story with interesting characters and side quest that would force me to explore most of what the map has to offer.
    But thats my opinion.

    • @mothergoose275
      @mothergoose275  11 місяців тому

      That’s fair! I think it’s just a different style and I’m totally okay with it it, but I do think maybe they should have been more clear about it not being an open world game if that makes sense. I like that we are getting a variety of games, I think that creates more diversity and a better gaming landscape as a whole

      @@mothergoose275 Yes, but only when I wanted to know where they are located. I would never reach one if I were to play seriously. But thats not because its one of those false promises that aren't really that problematic but because it gets extremely boring when all you can do to traverse the map is walk/run or use a jet pack since there is not a single vehicle that would make exploring the map not a complete boring never-ending nightmare. The fact that you (or I in my serious runs) never encountered one is a clear sign that you haven't truly explored not even a single planet, simply because this invisible walls are just a couple of KMS separate in between.

    • @mothergoose275
      @mothergoose275  11 місяців тому

      I wouldn’t say it means I haven’t explored a planet, I’ve spent hours exploring just a single planet. And I may have even gotten close to the boundaries, but when you’re just running from one poi to another, or farming aliens or materials, or scanning things and actually playing the game these borders aren’t really an issue at least for me. But I can see why people would want vehicles

    I enjoyed the main quest, but honestly it lacked something. Like, there would've been a more compelling reason to collect artifacts; a lore-based way of finding them rather than omniscient Vlad; more quests like Entangled to claim each one; more impact of this search on the world; better fleshed out motivations for the Hunter and the Emissary, with more in-depth dialogue on the concepts in play; and of course, what bugged me most, any at all damned curiosity about the origin of the artifacts and their original purpose.

    This game is really PG 13 compared to other bethesda games. For example you would think crimson fleet to be really imoral and vioent etc but its just a social club. You are punished for being bad. Like the game itself doesnt really allow you to be bad. There are no evil companions and the 4 main comanions have all the same morals and are the only ones you can romance. Theres no dark stuff. I dont mind it too much its just a bit shit really. I love the game but man theres so much more they can do with it. You're kinda playing your version of a character rather than your own unique character. Like bethesda trying to force you into the good guy role etc. Again I love this game but this is one of its major downfalls. I also wish there were intelligent alien races and stuff but thats surely gotta come in the future. Its a space game afterall. When the creation kit comes out i believe this is where the game will shine

    I have 160 hours in it and while I don't particularly like the game (I feel it's regressive even for BGS, it doesn't stand up too well alongside its contemporaries, and its longevity relies too heavily on the modding community), I did have some fun. I loved the ship building and was intrigued by the initial main plot, though that was kinda poorly expanded on in new game plus. It was also nice to roleplay as a space scoundrel as I usually lean too much towards a goody-two-shoes but then that immersion was woefully stifled by some of the limited writing, foresight, and permutations.
    For the Crimson Fleet, I played it perfectly by the book besides shooting one little Roomba yet I was chewed out by the UC for "shooting up the place". The pirates also tried that whole "you and I aren't so different" trope despite me never killing a single person nor really doing any typical piracy. If anything, the only person I killed was a PIRATE who talked shit so I shot him in the head at The Key's entrance.
    For the Vanguard, it fit my character to be more of a mercenary, only really joining for the financial and social security, especially since I could imagine my Kid Stuff character would want to move their parents up in the world yet you can't ask them to move in with you. Instead, what I got was a plot that forced me to be a sort of savior, making intergalactic decisions that I was not qualified to be making. Even when I could make it perfectly clear that I had no business making these decisions and that I was uncertain, Sarah would treat me like I was stupid for making such an uneducated, shortsighted decision that I had no choice in, while the others would just ride or die me and my decisions into the sunset despite all of us being unqualified.
    Traits also rarely opened up new avenues. Neon Street Rat dialogue choices are either campy anti-corpo lecturing or "yes I am from there", neither providing connections or affecting affiliations. One faction quest allowed me to say that I know Neon well and all that did was prompt the quest giver to say "then you'll know your way around". I couldn't use any old friends to get me somewhere inaccessible or any in-depth knowledge of the Neon backstreets. Another faction also let me mention that I work for Ryujin and they immediately shot that suggestion down. The Wanted trait was also pretty boring and useless; any dialogue I used it in ended up the same way or had the same things available regardless and the bounty hunters have zero interactions beyond attacking you or getting paid off. They're just renamed and reskinned Spacers or Pirates. I thought it would've opened up a small little quest line (at first I thought it was the UC/Crimson Fleet questline) like how Kid Stuff works but you just get harassed endlessly.
    Overall, even being morally grey is boring because companions treat a lot of things as an evil act and the only other choice is to be good but ask for compensation, which companions will still chew you out for doing. Do a good thing and you're a flawless hero of the highest degree but do a selfish thing and suddenly no one knows you anymore.

    well... 300 hours in... And well it could be my observations or just that I have had my eyes opened to it... But starfield feels like a skeleton compared to other BGS games., sure prior games started feeling more empty or less built than others, but this one seems to have the worst or its the 1k worlds of endless random generation but they forgot to put into making the POIs for the game, else forgot that they should include the community in creation of more POIs cuase its the same 10 POIs every planet. It gets old,, stale, and boring... Got up to NG+4 but ended up losing the energy to continue playing.

    • @mothergoose275
      @mothergoose275  11 місяців тому

      That’s fair! But isn’t the fact that you played 300 hours a testament to how much there is to do? And I believe there are roughly 20 names locations you can go to and then 37 random POIs that can appear on the planets which I do think there should be more buts also a lot more than just 10😅

    • @mightypancake2211
      @mightypancake2211 11 місяців тому +1

      @@mothergoose275 I mean I just keep seeing the same 10 POIs that double as the artifact locations, and if you do a no clip through the map you will find the artifact chamber but cause it isn't marked as such they have a lazy blocked off part of the map... meaning they didn't put enough time into the game to make unique secondary and trinary locations that could be locations for these. artifacts or even base locations. Cause I kept on finding Cyrolabs, mines, and research labs that were just the main part of the game. And why I played 300 hours is cause I was grinding up money for making my space ship...
      Cause after doing the first time, it was okay and I was feeling somewhat good happy with the sort of 3d show and tell of what happens to the world... sort of like it was for the older games of fallout and even a bit of Eldar scrolls. but here... it is a hollow immitation and really you step through the unity and all your progress is reset. So you just redo the quests there is no variaty to them either.
      you play all the side missions... and you see that there is little change to each, you might get the starborn option to say "Oh I have done this before"

      Well I was specifically talking about Beatemups specifically and he didn’t know, go check out his original video or my reaction to it for context. But also the spaceport is still connected to the city. The spaceport is sitting on the bottom of a cliff. All you have to do is jump off that cliff from one of the other districts and you can get to the spaceport, it’s all loaded in. And I haven’t found a staircase up (which I think is needed) but you can leave the spaceport climb up the mountain and then walk right into new Atlantis proper

    I have over 300 hours in this game now and trust me it is to me my new Skyrim. I will be playing for the next 10 years. The ones that have been hating on it well they do make some points about the crafting and outpost building there are some things that could have been brushed up in that department. I would say the story lines are awesome. New game is amazing and I love how you can play the game one way then new game another. Space is the frontier and the black sea keeps on giving for me. I am only on my 4th new game play through. The first 2 I did everything the 3rd I choice to just grab the artifacts.. Now I am on the 4th and UCdef don't like me now. I may give it another try. Maybe it’s just because I’m in the first couple hours of a game and they are trying to establish the story but I had a quest where it essentially was talk to person A they told me to go talk to person b who told me to go talk to person c who told me to go talk to person D who told me to go talk to person A again, no combat, no magic, just running to different towns and talking to people, and then after that I had to help a farmer find his lost goat by ringing a bell or something and that’s when I stopped playing… I never found the goat😅 There’s got to be more right?😂

      @mothergoose275 man the dialog is alot but the dialog is sorta what makes it work skipping it considering all of the story and what van happen will hurt the playthrough and you'll be ververting to a save wondering holy fuck why did that happen lol. It's a game that if you're patient enough for starfield you will be able to handle witcher 3 but in witcher 3s case the patients has a eventually pay off. You won't get told random info for nothing in witcher 3. It all has its place kinda. I can see why it would be hard to get into atfirst it was for me too. Another reason Bethesda is popular is their worlds are easy to get into

    Definitely not overrated. Outdated? Kind of a weird criticism, considering all the Indy games that intentionally look like games from 40 years ago. Starfield doesn't look like a tech demo of the latest iteration of the Unreal engine. Is anyone surprised? It takes years to make a Bethesda game. There was a worldwide pandemic that impacted the game. They polished the game for several extra months just to be sure it was fully playable on release. They showed the game extensively in their Starfield Direct presentation. We got what they showed and promised - unlike any game I can recall. It is what it is. If Starfield is "outdated" so is every Nintendo game released for the last several decades.
    I actually didn't mind this guy's review. As hyperbolic as the title may be, he actually played the game and made good points. What I love about Starfield, are things he doesn't appreciate. I love the vastness. I absolutely have no issue finding areas to explore. Role playing is exactly what I want. I've started multiple characters. If there wasn't an "opportunity to role play", why would I do that? I've also started multiple Baldur's Gate 3 characters for similar reasons.
    One of the things I really dislike about the criticisms is they all say "It's 2023 now". Yes, that's the current year. They seem to have missed how games overall have declined in quality in the last 25 years. We've had a recent huge bump in quality but modern games are still mostly cash grabs, designed around season passes and microtransactions. Getting a complete game from Bethesda that can be played for 100s of hours without spending another penny deserves A LOT more credit.
