06:40 I work up at Colossal Cave. We LOVE our hikers. Most of our visitors come down the path from the parking lot but the smelly, dusty ones, the ones with the BEST stories and attitudes come up the stairs from the trail! We are a package stop so feel free to mail us your resupply...we'll hook you up! We've got beer!
It's nice to watch you enjoy yourself on that trail. I may not get out at all this year. I will have to plan an overnighter one weekend to keep my 7 year streak alive!
Great video! Love that you give info on water sources, camping, resupply opportunities and your mileage. I know a lot of that info is in Farout but it's good to see in the videos. Would love to do that trail someday, I love the West (from Northern IL).
MANY thanks for clip of the Union Pacific Railroad Transcon!!!! That was awesome. GREAT video again, Jon. Well done. That "Colossal Cave" looks amazing. Hey - weird question, but were those compression socks in last week's video? My doc recommended them for me and I bought some this week. Wanted to see if they are worth hiking in. I obviously don't put on the miles you put in, but I'm curious. I would take those 50 degree days all trip long. Good stuff, brother.
Great to see you back out on the trail. I really enjoy watching your videos. Jon great views from the top of that mountain. You don't have that in Wisconsin do you?
@@jonallenoutside That's great to hear Jon, your backpacking trips are always well done. And your instructional videos are so informative. I've got a trip in August where I'm going to hike the bottom section of Isle Royale. I'll cut a video on my UA-cam channel for that if you're interested.
11:04 Can you share some info on those sunglasses? Are they prescription? I wear glasses and usually don't wear sunglasses hiking because I don't want to carry 2 pairs and the over-glasses sunglasses I have are very heavy and hurt my nose, but those might work.
I bought these on Amazon (they are not prescription). They are made by Hulislem. Here's a link: amzn.to/47rhNH6. I'm not one to spend a bunch of money on sunglasses and I feel like these have held up well given the decent price point.
Great work looks awesome!

The stop at Colossal Cave was definitely a trip highlight. Thank you for supporting the hiking community!

I was wearing Zensah sleeves. They help reduce vasculitis which I sometimes get the first week or two of a trip.

No, nothing like that here. I plan on doing a lot of backpacking so plenty more videos to come.
