Good thing for rainy days it gives you time to assemble more of the parts on that beautiful MD engine. Great job and explaining the process as you proceed!
The engineering that went into this tractor is amazing. I never knew that there were tractors that ran on both gas or deisel. You decide. Enjoying the rebuild. Thanks
@@joelblacksmith1064 If you run it too long on gas, it can warp the 3rd value. Also if you don't leave it in diesel after it is shut off the 3rd value again can warp as it cools down.
I know you’re not leaving the back of tractor in it’s “work clothes”, but it’s kinda neat to see the before and after aspect of it side by side!! Have a great day Pete!!
It’s going to look like that one cub that the guy only painted half of it until it gets finished. Thanks for the videos can almost hear the engine running
I am in total admiration that you can remember all the names for the various parts you are assembling (and temporarily dis-assembling). Hell, somedays I can't remember my own name! Great job and it's looking mighty fine, Pete!
First of all I'll say that you're very good behind the camera very natural.. and secondly I'll say it's good that you break up the engine and the farm life because it would not be natural to do the engine all the time so you really are doing a reality show and you keep me coming back and I'm not even a subscriber so keep going strong you're doing fine job
Excellent video also job assembly motor back tractor Peter :) you have a pretty tractor and soon have lots people saying that prettiest farm on my road plus area even there equipment! I can see that happen and hope local people like taking pictures and interview with too about nice things you have!
Great work Pete. Really like your videos. Would have liked to see more about how the switch over linkage goes together, and adjusted. Hopefully I can get a blow up of the manual page, as I am not sure if I have that.
Hi Pete. I found my manual. I am actually working on a 650 Diesel. They all use the same mechanism, although slightly different from model to model. I think from the MD up to the 650, the all started on gas and switched diesel. The WD40, TD35 and TD40 as well, although the TracTractors had an auto switch over that you could adjust/overide depending on how long/short you needed the warm up. I have a problem though. My manual says .030 end play on the cross shaft. I have .086, or nothing, depending on if I put a washer on the gas side to take up the space or not. The book doesn't say what to do if the end play is out of spec. The parts book doesn't show a washer in there between the block and the first cam that is fixed to the shaft. Anyone have any ideas?
Wonderful work! I was wondering, why do some tractors use the transmission or engine as a structural piece rather than mounting it to a frame? It seems like much more of a deal to split a tractor rather than just lifting the engine and transmission off the frame. Greetings from Dallas! I have family in Utica so upstate is a second home to me!
You should leave the back half "original" but still not leaky and properly working order, just to shit on everyone who leaves silly negative comments on these wonderful videos
Have you ever put something all back together again only to find out you missed reinstalling a piece? Something I did only once when I was first learning I was mechanically inclined & trying my hand at repairing things. .
Gas and diesel for an engine is new to me and didn't really understand what happens for each fuel and what happens at changeover. Assume the idea of gas is to aid starting.
It’s coming along nicely but unfortunately you have to put on the exhaust manifold before the intake. Hopefully you do not wreck your intake gaskets when you remove it and install the exhaust manifold. Still very informative and I wish you would have done this build before I did mine. Lots of information that could’ve helped me along the way.
What is the brand of gasket sealer you use? Nevermind it’s High tac. I had to get further into the video. Also When do you think the engine will be done and purrin like a kitten? It looks very close now just assembly the last couple of things then BAM! Running like Néw!
I can't believe that you did not paint the fuel tank. I know you aren't going to paint the whole tractor now, but I would think you would have painted the tank just because it was already off the tractor and easily painted. PS: my wife was also surprised that you did not paint it.
Sorry about that. I want to paint the tank at the same time as the other sheet metal so the finish matches, but I have to fit the sheet metal to the assembled tractor before I can paint it.
This tractors going to look like someone wearing a suit jacket and tie with greasy work pants. I love it!
My M looks the same paint wise,
It's a tractor mullet.
Yup, business up front... party in the back!

Beautiful! Great work Pete. I've really enjoyed your sharing this journey with all of us. Thank you.
The beauty of well done You Tube videos, whether it's a mathematics lecture or rebuilding a tractor engine is when you're convinced: 'I can do that'.
It is a treat to watch your meticulous attention to every detail while reassembling the MD engine.
It's nice watching a journeymans restoration of a tractor i often wandered how the MD worked i didn't know they had a carbarator
Hi , Peter , my favourite farmer Swede .
Been noticing the red actually looks red, not orange. Can’t wait to see this working the farm
Camera messes with the real color it looks like it’s supposed to in real life
The MD is coming along nicely! Thanks for sharing this with us. 🇺🇸🚜👍
Yea it's fascinating to see how old machines are built
Its looking awesome and soon we shall hear her run!
Can't wait to here it running!
I really like how the Farmall comes together. Sometimes it is not important how fast you get it together but rather how the process itself unfolds.
Man I can't WAIT to see it fire up for the first time. It's looking great!
It's going to be exciting when she starts

Lookin' mighty fine, Pete ! And the best part is... it's NOT green !
I know you’re not leaving the back of tractor in it’s “work clothes”, but it’s kinda neat to see the before and after aspect of it side by side!!

It will be left that way until next winter, when it's time to do the other half of the tractor if i remember correctly.
It’s going to look like that one cub that the guy only painted half of it until it gets finished. Thanks for the videos can almost hear the engine running
She's looking really nice, Pete!

I see a start up in the next 1, 2, maybe 3 videos! I’ve watched the entire restoration of the MD series.
I’ve been a car guy for 40 years. I’ve never thought an ICE can switch between gas and diesel combustion!
Great progress Pete! This tractor is gonna sound great when finally starts!
My dad and uncle painted our super h in the 70s and it looks pinkish purple today
Can't wait ! Good Job ! I Want to rebuild my old 62' C-10 after I've retired . You Inspire Me ,Thank You
Reading your book right now and love how you talked in there about one day rebuilding this tractor! very cool.
This really looks like a work of a true artisan.
Looks good! You make it look easy with your knowledge of rebuilding an engine.
Brake line as fuel line, good idea.
Cannot wait for the sound of it starting up for the first time in a few years. Thanks for bringing us along!
You are a true craftsman. 👌👌👌👍👍👍
i like to watch the job of your restoring Pete
I had no idea the amount of engineering in the MD models.
Sure looks god, Pete.
Just a note I'm thinking this motor will be better painted now than when it left the factory. Once again looks great.
The red paint is so bright that I almost had to put my sunglasses on to watch your video.
Same bro
Getting so close now. Happy for you. Great work, Pete!

Enjoyed your video, complex machine for its day and still is a mechanical wonder for agriculture.
That bright red fuel switchover rod stands out like a "hot rod"!

Looking red and shiny!
lookin good!
Love the colour of the engine 🇬🇧🤘☀️😀
Really enjoying this series, thanks for sharing.

Can't wait to see it in action! We have a super w6 diesel on farm but hasn't been ran in years just to hard to find parts for them old diesel anymore!
Coming along nicely Pete !
Getting closer! WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!
Looking good Pete 🚜
Thanks, Pete!
Looks awesome keep the videos coming
Wow I'm surprised you didnt have more problems putting things togather with the new paint
I enjoy your work! Thanks for sharing
Looking good Pete.
It is looking really good!
i can almost hear it. getting close.
Ooohhh won't be long till it's first start 😉

Very interesting watch regards N Ireland .
Again nice work. Thanks!
Nice build coming along, it isa labour of love but it will be a working machine again
I can see why they didn’t make to many MD s To many moving parts . U sure do a very job. Keep on keeping on
You should leave the back half "original" but still not leaky and properly working order, just to shit on everyone who leaves silly negative comments on these wonderful videos
Thanks for the video! About the front engine mount. It does not get bolted to the block? thats interesting.
This is amazing! Where did you learn all this stuff?
Great video!
😭😭😭 I love your videos pete
Almost 10 minutes of joy !!
Awesome Pete
I am actually crying
Now that's a wrench...
When do you know to use gasket sealer on gaskets n when to put them on dry? Also when do you use thread locker n when not too.
Have you ever put something all back together again only to find out you missed reinstalling a piece? Something I did only once when I was first learning I was mechanically inclined & trying my hand at repairing things. .
You will have to be in the Macy's parade this Year when you are done take it to Tractor 🚜 shows
Looking real good Pete, you gonna be able to paint the gas tank and the transmission housing?
Amazing !
Sweet
Ahoy Peter,
with what do you paint the seal?
thanks !

Nice video
just wondering how much longer are you think this build is going to be just wondering love your videos
Pete, I have to ask a question out of ignorance. Since this tractor cranks on gas and runs of of diesel, will it also run on just gas?

This is a question for someone who knows more about farmalls then me but we’re the MDs more fuel efficient compared to the Ms
where do u get the seals for the injectors?
I do believe if I get the chance to buy a MD, I will pass on it.
Pete wen ate u gonna to pait the back half of the md ?
Next winter. Farm is getting busier!
Okay cant wait for it
Pete, you're gonna paint the fuel tank...right? 😵💫
cool
What oil did you put in the injection pump?
It keeps getting redder as you go.
I can't believe that you did not paint the fuel tank. I know you aren't going to paint the whole tractor now, but I would think you would have painted the tank just because it was already off the tractor and easily painted. PS: my wife was also surprised that you did not paint it.

.....you could paint up the rear too? 😅
He is going to leave it like that until next winter when he is done working it
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🙏🏻 Enjoyed!
Crank it over! Crank it over!
👍
Sad part is that's as pretty as it will ever look! Run it for one day it will be filthy!
Sure is purdy
