    Hi mate, just got two of these 105a fogstars delivered today after a long wait
    Haven’t had chance to test them yet but the terminal screws are steel not like your nice brass ones and no leaflets.
    Not impressed with the steel screws and washers.
    Thanks for your film.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  Рік тому

      Are they maybe nickel plated as opposed to steel? Either way it won't hinder the battery operation. Can't say anything about the leaflet, but it may be they are maybe making that info digital via their app now. I do see a link on my App for operation manual, but the links not active? A work in progress maybe. Thanks for the info and support, be sure to let me know how they work out for you. Cheers 🍻

      I use my victron 30 Amp charger similar to this one amzn.to/3RSKXb5 as it charges quite fast and it has lifepo4 specific profiles as well as BT etc cost more than other chargers but built like a tank. Lower amp charge just means longer charge times.

    hi great channel, we have a 30 year old fiat ducato, if i was to get one of these batteries to replace the lead acid leisure battery in it what would happen if it was in the circuit and the van was hooked up (where the lead acid battery would trickle charge) , giving that the instructions say charge using a lithium iron phosphate charger? would a whole new charging unit need to be installed in the van?

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  Рік тому

      Not necessarily. Really depends on what output the charger has and what your power usage is going to be. Most ppl do install a separate DC to DC charger circuit. There's a forum motorhomefun that will help you further.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  Рік тому

      I'm not sure how the temperature could be out of sync. Charge the batteries individually until fully charged before connecting in series. Temperature sensors will only kick in at zero (can be set) and while under charge conditions & won't be an issue.

    I'm soon moving to an EV tariff with a cheap overnight electricity rate but a premium day time rate. I'm considering adding battery storage in my garage to load up on cheap electric overnight and then run the house from said batteries during the day.
    I've been looking at Pylontech batteries but these are significantly cheaper - albeit 12V.
    Am I right in saying that these are suitable for connecting in series up to 48V for use with a 48V DC to 230V AC inverter, then have the inverter use a CT clamp on the main supply to control the daytime discharge?
    I'm quite new to all of this so might be missing something glaringly obvious.

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  Рік тому +1

      If you go to www.dcguy.co.uk it may help you figure out where to start. For example do you know your wattage requirements? There's other info on the download page including wiring unlimited by victron, good starting place. Don't buy anything till you know the numbers. It does make sense to charge up at the cheapest rate though, especially when solar isn't an option.

    • @KoRWraith
      @KoRWraith Рік тому

      @@DCGUY I've done some reading and I use around 7kWh a day so ~10kWh of battery storage would be ideal. Fogstar Leisure batteries are the cheapest way of acheiving that outwith of Chinese suppliers/self-build that I would rather avoid.
      The leisure batteries with JBD BMS won't communicate with an inverter but I've watched some off-grid garage videos and this doesn't seem to be a major issue.
      My current sticking point is deciding on an inverter. I'll be battery only so don't need solar functionality but I'll be grid tied and using a CT clamp on the main supply to inform the inverter when to discharge the batteries.
      Do you have any suggestions?

    • @DCGUY
      @DCGUY  Рік тому +1

      Growatt seem to have a good product so I'd take a look at those e.g SPF series. I believe you can use these in bypass mode with lifepo4. ua-cam.com/video/B0IooGHdZXY/v-deo.html gives an idea of what you want to do I think. Just be aware that when you use any grid tied system. Even if your only charging batteries you may need DNO approval. Some people do the paperwork themselves with success but do some homework on the requirements for your area.

      @@DCGUY unless you live in the artic, your van should be insulated enough to keep the temperature inside the van warm enough for the batteries. A cheap workaround is a small greenhouse heater inside the compartment where the battery is kept. I think there has only been a few days this year where the temperature has got even close to the point where lithium shouldn't be charged, so the heater would only be used a couple of days a year!
