This is not Yes. This is the Steve Howe band.

Cool to see the circular stage like the Tormato days but it looks so cramped up on it.

Ok, everyone.... YES is always somewhere from #2-4 in my Top 5 fave bands ever.
But, having seen various configurations from '75-'19, all wonderful, I lean toward earlier (maybe 2004 and earlier, tho seen latest configuration lastly, 2018?, and Anderson configurations.
I can't tell someone to not check out the current sitch.
    I appreciate their effort.
Soon, every original member will be dead, as I.
I get all the critique. I do.
I can't advocate one way or another (Blondie another fave band of mine).
But, We All Move On, On To The Heart Of The Sunrise.
    ✌️❤️

Someone should do a compilation of Steve Howe giving the stink eye to people blowing changes, such as the drummer laying an egg at the start of this.

In addressing the problem of YES/not YES:
I think seeing a band as not the band it claims to be simply for lack of original members is a limited way to approach this.
Chris was the last remaining original member at the time of his death in 2015, and wished for the band to continue. Just watch the YES50 interviews and indie documentary for that tour and you will see that both Bill Bruford (who actually introduced YES on several YES50 show dates) and Tony Kaye (who performed the 3 song encore with the band every night of the tour) both approve of it's current iteration.
So with Banks also gone 2 years prior to Chris, the only other original member who seems not to approve of the current lineup is Jon Anderson, and understandably enough given the circumstances surrounding his second exit. But that is still 3 out of 5 original members who have given the band their blessing and support to continue, let alone Alan White who to this day is the longest tenured member of Yes with almost 50 years of service, which will likely never be topped by another player. That kind of tenureship should not be forgotten, and personally, I feel that judging this lineup on the basis that there are no original members alone is not only ignorant, but disrespectful to the history of the band and it's members.
We don't call a country a different name just because the people who lived there 400 years ago aren't around anymore. Neither do we comment endlessly on KFC UA-cam ads touting "No Colonel Sanders, no KFC!" In my mind, it's just an extremely limited and dull way to view the world, and one that isn't reflecting anything sacred or transcendant. It just projects an infantile perspective on life that is the furthest thing away from what YES is really about, which is elavation and living life in harmony and balance with the laws of the universe.
In saying this however, I will not attack anyone for not liking this incarnation of YES, as everyone is entitled to an opinion on whether or not they like what is going on. However, claiming that this isn't YES is just factually inaccurate.

If you're talking to me, I'm at least as old as you are. However, unlike you, I've given up the ghost and moved on to better things. And fwiw, "vision" does not good music make. And, when that album was recorded, it signified the last time Howe played a good note. No has been a legacy band for over 3 decades. That is the opposite of progressive.@@fenderstratocastertelecast8479

I love the current line up of Yes. If you want to call The Steve Howe Band, that’s fine, in fact I’ll go along wifh it. Either , they have made two great albums, imho of course 😊

The current lineup is one of my favourites and I am of the opinion that this band can continue beyond even Howe or anyone who is on stage on this tour. Rick and Jon A have both alluded to this concept before, and seems as they are two members people know better and love, people going around saying this ISN'T YES can't have their cake and eat it too. It is billed as YES, and chronologically this is the same band with all of the history behind it. That is much more powerful to me than a perfect performance record, which I'll add YES NEVER had.

Original lineup change? There isn't one original member in the lineup. They've had over 30 different musicians through the years, This is a Yes cover band with Steve Howe still towing the line, I mean god bless him, he's unbelievably talented... but this isn't Yes.

    • @WJRHalyn-jw2ho
      @WJRHalyn-jw2ho Рік тому +2

@@arthunkle3213 Thanks for confirming my suspicions. None of them seemed to be originals.
However, please note I DID say "... original line-up CHANGING...", acknowledging the constant rollover... NOT saying there were just a few changes. When I wrote the above comment, I thought by this time every one of the originals may well be gone, but I don't follow that stuff that closely. Hence, I covered my options by noting the changes were ongoing, without trying to specify how many, how often, however, etc.
And yes, one has to wonder if a band is still the "original" band once all the formative members were gone. It's like the story about the farmer who'd bought an axe thirty five years ago. Over the years, he'd replaced the blade sheath twice, the blade head three times, and broken & replaced the handle four times. But it was still "his axe". All original parts long since relinquished to history's dustbin.
