- Where have I been? #snipersling S-Robin and Breakfast
In this video I will explain what's been going on and where I have been the last few months. I will also make some Lunch have a coffee and do some shooting with an incredible slingshot from Snipersling..... the S-Robin.
#tufftimes #wherehaveyoubeen #s-robin #slingshot #ato #outdoorcooking
Glad to see your back. I love your videos - My prayers are with you.
Thanks Steven! Feels good to be back brother.
I hope you are better now. I have battled melanoma twice. Once in my back and removed all lymph nodes under my arm, chemo and radiation. then once on my arm caught real early no treatment . Thanks for all you do! You’ve taught me so much. You will continue to be in my prayers!! Keep slinging my friend.
Thanks for the update. Listen, life has twists & turns. I’m a cancer survivor of 7 years after going thru 2 months of Radiation. Had to switch insurance companies to get the treatment I wanted. After getting diagnosed it took me 6 months before my first treatment. I’ve had 3 stents put in various arteries. Feel great & look forward to every day. Your cataracts are correctable with the surgery. Hang tough I’m sure your going to be amazed at how much better your shooting gets after the surgery & your vision is so much better.
Speedy recovery Mark, you’re looking good, stay healthy please, so good to see you back
Hi my friend glad your back, look after yourself and stay strong you'll be ok buddy ,God bless, joefe
Thanks Joefe! I appreciate you buddy. I'm looking forward to getting back out shooting in any capacity.
Detached retina and cataracts done in the last year or so. Driving at night was getting dangerous. Like the catapult. I was blaming your absence on the government. Thank you for the update, Mark. Stay safe and stay warm.
Lol they got me..... lol I am hoping to get the cataracts done soon. Possibly before Christmas but I think it will be after. The lenses supplied by Medicare won't work for me so I need to get another model that costs $1000 per eye.
@@ATOMark I got Tecnis lenses for $150 per eye. I have no idea if they are better because you have nothing to compare them to. I have to wear reading glasses for close work. I also paid $150 to have the lens prescription done with ultrasound when they measures for lens diameter. Better than the old fashioned way for sure. It is some hard choices. . I hope it works out well for you. I had one eye done at the Eye Institute in Ottawa and the other one done at a clinic in Ottawa. Lots of eye drops after
I paid for that too. It costs 320 for both eyes here. I could have had it covered my Medicare but it was a e month wait. The lense choice I have because of astigmatism will cost 1000 per eye. If I get the free one I will need to get glasses for far and close.
Glad to see your doing good, prayers heading your way.
Keep it in the 10 ring my friend
I really hope you get well soon I'm praying for you Pal. Just concentrate on getting healthy okay mate 🙏🙏👍🎯
Hang in there buddy...... keep taking care of yourself and things will work out... I also have the S-Robin and absolutely love it! thanks for sharing and see you on the next one
Ya I shouldn't call it a diet. It is more like a life change. This whole thing has really taught me a lot about myself. Eating the way I am eating and exercising has me feeling better and sleeping better. Once the other stresses are dealt with I should be smoothing it.
Get well soon buddy thank you for coming for us . God bless you and see you soon.
Thanks man. I'll be back with another video soon.
Glad to see you back making content and that you got this off your chest. I wish you all the best with your surgeries and keep up the good work with the diet and exercise.
Cheers friend,
- Martin
Thanks Martin. It felt so good to be amongst the trees. You know I didn't spend 1 night in the bush this year! Usually I try to get around 30 nights in and many day trips. Not 1..... there is still time. Lol take care my friend. Thanks for stopping in.
@@ATOMark I'm terribly sorry to hear it. But, if your health issues are being sorted out, it's very much worth losing out on those 30 nights of camping. You have many more ahead of you. Stay well!
Very true my friend.
Good shooting, I will be keeping you in prayer. I am so happy that God has brought you through so far and am confident that He will see you the rest of the way, As long as you put your trust in Him.
Trust is always there. I just need to make sure I don't lose my way.
Thanks for sharing. You take care, stay safe and may you stay healthy always
Thanks man. Thats the plan.
Great you're back. Keep your head up. You will get true the hard times keep strong 💪
Always brother.
I’m glad to see you back my brother I’ll be praying for you
Thanks man. I am on the mend and can still shoot pretty decent if it is bright out for now. Once I get my eyes fixed there will be nothing holding me back.
Thumbs up. Glad to see you out getting some peace from creation.
Brother its my favorite place to be.
Just to add.... Your a guy I would love to share a beer with... Keep safe and glad your back...
Thanks buddy, I appreciate that.
You read my mind with the band sets. My favorites too by the way.
Good to see you out and about again Mark, and youre still shooting straight. Look after yourself, Dave in Wales.
Thanks man
welcome back, stay strong & healthy. Keep us entertain. Love from Borneo 💕
Thanks man. More videos on the way.
Nice to hear from you Mark, take care of #1 and stay healthy.
Working on it brother. I am just itching to get back filming.
Good to see you back Mark. Stay strong take care.
Thanks man.
Mark first let me say. What you did in this video is admirable brother. It takes a lot of guts for someone to talk about their health issues. It takes even more to not let your health issues interfere with your passions and hobbies. I've been struggling with a condition called dystonia for about 10 years and I had to adapt my shooting and hobbies so I could continue doing them. By far not easy but possible. My hat's off to you man, not only do you continue to do what you do but you opened up to everyone that loves your content and put it all out there. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more content brother
Hey thanks man. I appreciate the comment. I am who I am. Some folks like me some don't. I have never been ashamed of my failures or setbacks. This is Just another one of those. I really didn't thinknit would affect me mentally like it did but the whole situation has aloud me to grow and learn about myself. Not saying I am glad it happened but I am happy I am able to learn from it. Just have to keep my eyes on the target.

Oh man I cant wait to get that surgery. Sadly it looks like it will be after Christmas sometime.
Tough go at it, Mark. Glad to see results were negative. Sending prayers your way!

Well done with the weight loss, I've been trying as well, it ain't easy :)
It is work. But when eating healthy you start to feel good pretty quick. Its worth the work.

thanks man. i am excited to see how much of a difference it will make.
When you get that notice, many things pass true the head. I glad you okay, thanks to God.
Yes my friend. And the thoughts keep coming for a long time after too. Its hard to forget and move on but it gets easier everyday.
@@ATOMark One day at the time and get the maximum of it. The support from the family, friends and God always go to be there for you. 🙏
Keep on keeping on brother.
Thats all I can do.
Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks man.
I had a squamous cell removed from my nose last year. It is a little un-nerving till the biopsy comes back good. Prayers for continued good health. Very nice looking frame and good shooting!
Thanks brother. My father had that on his ear aswell. I was stressing because my mother got melanoma on her hip. It popped up she got an appointment in 1 week. Had it removed 2 weeks later and had to go back to remove all the lynf nodes in her leg. It was really aggressive. She beat it but if she had to wait like I did she probably wouldn't have.
@@ATOMark Yes prompt health care is a blessing when it's a sooner is better than later situation. I'm concerned the vaccine mandate that's getting ready to come down here in the states will slow health care here. Many are vowing to refuse to take it. I actually tested positive for covid last Thursday and have had just mostly sinus infection type symptoms but feeling better everyday. I took the vax and think it's probably the reason my case hasn't been too bad but I'd rather it not be mandated. I think people should be free to choose. In regards to your eye surgery a guy I attend church with that's my age(almost 60) had cataract surgery and said it's like turning a light switch on. You'll be taking out tooth picks at 10 meters haha! Have a great day man!
Great to hear from you. Your videos were missed, Many encouragement and strength. Best wishes from Spain. Cheers
Thanks my friend. I will have more videos coming out soon.
life can be a kick in the balls man...wising you the best brother
Thanks man. Hopefully my luck turns around and something good happens
🇬🇧🙏🏻
I had a procedure 5 days ago, 2 lumps removed from my head, awaiting the results. Glad you’re clear, my fingers crossed for your eyes too, I’m nearly blind in my right eye ( from birth ) so I shoot holding in my right hand.
That Robin is something else, looking at when stock is available again
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 ATB
I hope you will be ok my friend. I will be going in for the surgery on the 28th. I cant see a damn thing from my right eye any more. I have a hard time hitting a tall can at 10m now. When before I could hit the tab 6/10. It is frustrating to wait but at least it will finally be done.
Brother,
Been there with the melanoma. Was twelve years ago and still being watched closely but clean throughout. I live in the US and feel for you having to wait so long for Dr. Visits and lab results, we are blessed that we don't have to deal with that here yet. My wife called her skin Dr as I had never been to one and told him I had a suspicious spot. He saw me the same day after hours. The next night he called with lab results and told me I better meet him in the office the next morning for surgery. I can't imagine how it would have turned out if I had to wait like you. Just the the stress of not knowing for so long a time has got to be bad for you. Hope the surgery goes well and your sight returns to teenage type vision! Great shooting as always. My top two bands are also sniper sling yellow and simple shot black. I tried sniper sling black but my two issues were longevity and it seemed to fail without warning. Most bands you see tears or holes form but the sniper black seemed to just snap when they were done? Anyway, hang in there and at some point in the future you'll be able to look back and see this was just a season of life... Not the new norm.
I love slingshot videos and reviews, especially yours, but take care of you. We will be waiting when this season of hardship has passed and your ready to put out content again. You'll know your ready when they are fun again ☺️
I am ready to put out content. I actually need to for my sanity. Those months waiting for the results feels like it aged me. The stress is still there it seems but nature is my medicine. I am most comfortable when I am amongst the trees and bear poop. Lol my body is healing now I need to reset my mind and doing what I most enjoy is needed. Making videos is on the list.
I wish that was the health service we had in Canada. Could have made the whole deal easier to deal with.
@@ATOMark Yeah, I had to wait like 10 days after the surgery and test ect to be sure they got everything and it hadn't spread. That was serious mental stress as your mind really can mess with you. I can't imagine having that stress for months! Sounds like your in a very good mental place though. Sling shooting and nature are very therapeutic... The more" therapy" the better👍
Glad your pulling through mate, always some of the best content. Can't wait to see your future vids. Take care bro 💪
More on the way. I cant wait to get back out.
I respect that he wont give up bacon for real thought respect
Sorry to hear all those bad things that happened to you buddy, heard too many bad things recently, life would continuously take things away from us, think we will just have to enjoy the moment, lucky to know all of you guys through this sport, keep safe and stay positive!
Thanks my friend. Its life! Sometimes things are good and sometimes they are bad. Its all about how you get up and dust your self off after getting knocked down that matters. Thanks for what you do for the community man. Excellent quality, fair prices and reliable supplier of tools for the passion we share. You rock dude!
Wow Brother, what a set of ordeals you have been through! Stay positive, keep doing what you are doing and get yourself fixed up. Much appreciate the video. Have been wondering what happened to you......All the best.
Getting fixed up is my main priority but that includes taking time to do the things I love like shooting, making videos and fishing. All on the list buddy
Really good to see you back and hear your chat not a easy thing to talk about but good on you for doing it, us guys will never leave a brother behind. I know you will talk to us when your good and ready.
Really glad your in the clear with the bad one but at least thay can fix your eyes, trust me it's much better than keratoconus.
You keep well and keep that weight coming off and stay safe 👍
You got it buddy. I should be back with weekly videos. Maybe shooting tiny targets will have to be on hold for now but I will come up with something.
@@ATOMark just keep at your targets don't let it stop you you soon learn to point shoot a slingshot it taken me a while but I m managing it iv just managed a 9 hit out of 30 on a 40 mm spinner, iv just had a new contract lens fitted for curvature correction if I can anyone can be strong just try for the sake of trying 💪👍
I'm sorry to hear that bro!😞
Just watched this glad your good now well done on weight loss and kicking cancers ass I myself had a hard time at 46 massive heart attack got me stressed out for 12 months after because I couldn’t do the things I love but I am still ticking at 59 keep up the good work well done

If you can shoot like that with 2 cataracts I`m off to the Dr to see if he can fit me 2 cataracts.... Seriously... so glad your on the mend and you have the all clear... once your eyes are fixed you will have super human vision... People I know that have had cataracts removed cant believe how bad their vision had deteriorated over the years and they didn't even realise until they had them fixed.. My Guy so glad you're fighting the weight! Sending stay strong vibes from Austria💪🏼 🙏🏻. You gonna win this at the end, slim down and heal up with them eyes after OP. Diet sounds right, get some multivitamins as an extra ✔️ that S-Robin is a beast 😍.
Ya brother i forgot to mention that. I have been doing vitamin sups since covid started. I'm on the way. When I was in my mid twenties I was a gorilla. 10 months ago I just felt old but ai am starting to feel good again.
Glad too see u back bud.
Thanks Mike. Its good to be back.
glad to see you again :)
Thanks! It felt really good to get out and shoot.
I think You can shoot blindfolded as well as I glasses on 😊
Anyway, older You get, more important health is. Something that 20 year old don't think too often.
Nice to hear, that things are going to better direction 👍
It has been ruff. I am curious if the new eyes will make my accuracy better. I think it will .....I'm excited to find out. Thanks for the kind words my friend.

I'll take all the help I can old friend. I am in no rush to lose the weight. I figure cut the processed foods and make healthy choices and exercise more and the weight will take care of its self. 240 lbs man that is incredible. Congrats. Thanks for stopping in brother.

@@ATOMark you gotta put your health first buddy it’s hard not been able to shoot yeah but I’m sure everyone would still watch Evan if your doing a live just chatting answering questions having a laugh
I thinknI will do some of those live videos again. That was fun. Maybe I should do all my unboxing videos like that. Good idea.
Mark for half-blind you shoot like Robin Hood. That shows you one-eyed Jack can be a King in a land of blind LOL! Take care.
Lol I have missed these comments. Good to see ya bro
Dude, I'm do glad u got this off your chest. Men have issues with speaking about their feelings (I am one for the record), which in turn creates a bigger problem.
It's so nice to see the genuine personality of a "youtuber" you've followed for a year or more. I'm glad you're OK, dude. Happy shooting, and keep the chin up. None of us know whether we or the ones we love will wake up tomorrow morning. It sounds cliché, but every day really is a blessing on this beautiful blue planet.
Lots of love from (not so) sunny Scotland 🏴
On my other channel I did a "show me your steak" tag video. The purpose was to promote men's mental health and create awareness. It took me about 4-5 tries to film it because I wanted to make it honest and from the heart. I found that video, the process of it made me break through some barriers and learn a lot about myself. From that point on these kind of talks became easier and freeing. It is easy to dwell on things good and bad but life is like the seasons they change and nothing good or bad lasts for ever...... but sometimes you can speed up a bad season by being honest about it and letting it out. My reasons for keeping it hush hush was purely selfish. Having a huge family I really didn't want to talk about it every day. It was not going to be productive in reducing my stress levels and getting healthy. Some people are angry that I didn't tell them, but that comes from a selfish place of their own.
Try drop those walls brother those who won't stand by you or judge you during the hard times have no place around you during the good. It is tuff and I still get anxious when I decide to let something out but I try to flip it , change my mind set to curiosity. How will they react, respond or feel about the situation. I have found it really works for me and it gets easier every time.
Lol oh an by the way nothing but rain 🌧 here in Canada 🇨🇦 as well. No shooting this weekend.
@@ATOMark that S-Robin though 🤩🤩🤩

Great stuff Mark keep at it mate
Thanks man
9.35. I know that arm raise well. Keep pushing forward mate.
You got it man
Great to see you back on UA-cam Mark - I've been missing the chats on your livestreams. I had surgery for prostate cancer 5 years ago so I know the hell you've been though! I also tore the retina in my dominant eye and had to get it laser repaired a few years ago - I've got a nice scar in my vision that floats around when I'm aiming! But hey-ho, I'm still here enjoying fall in the woods and shooting slingshots. Take care my friend :)
Wow you have been through the ringer. What happened with your eye? Accident? Or just one of those things.... I am looking forward to shooting another video soon. I really enjoyed being outside in the fresh air.
@@ATOMark I was chopping/splitting logs - I guess the shock going through my arm did it!
My uncle had the same thing I think. The retna detached it happened 2 years after a big accident.
Good to see you back! Was wondering and worried what happened. Good video. Might be the only UA-cam video I've seen with zero dislikes. That tells you something brother. Hang in there and stay strong. Looks like you still shoot better'r'n me anyway........
Thanks Ed, there are a lot of good folks who stop in from time to time. I appreciate every one of them. I just have to get some cash together and get my eyes fixed and I will be better than new.
@@ATOMark Good man. Was thinking about you so I went downstairs and took one of my favourite frames (a bamboo ATO) and blasted some Tim Hortons coffee cups. Best use I can think of for empty Tim's cups (that red is easy to see too). All the best eh.
nah man, I am not going anywhere. take as much time as you need. looking forward to you coming back with eagle eyes. you know, you shoot better with a compromised eye than I do with two good ones haha
I will still do some shooting videos between now and the surgery. They may not be the shooting I think I am capable of but they still will be fun.
not been with you for long but really enjoy ya videos sorry for all the shit you going through stay strong take care

Omg Mark I hope your okay buddy
Ya its been crazy the last few months. I'll survive! I just want to get back to normal and let go of some stress.
Missed you Bud.
Glad you got the all clear on the C. 👍🏻
...but it suck's getting old 🤔😉 I'm 53 in December and I feel like I'm dropping to bits 🙄 my eyes are steadily getting worse. I was wondering if you can get glasses to help with shooting. Thought you might know with your archery background?
Anyway great to see you again Mark 🙂
Be well Friend.
Not really sure. I always took my glasses of to shoot. Lol I am 46 and probably recked my eyes welding at work and spending hours on end on the water fishing with no sunglasses. Thats probably where the melanoma came from aswell. I will make some more life style changes but they will all lead to doing the things I love more often. I will be back with a video soon my friend.
@@ATOMark 👍🏻 Looking forward to it Bro.
I’m sorry to hear about the issues that you are dealing with but I’m glad you caught it earlier and had it taken care of before the cancer spread.
Cataract surgery is fast and painless for the most part. My mom had it done last year and now she sees better than I do. She very seldom wears her glasses anymore.
Takecare of yourself brother 👊
I'm on the mend and thats all that matters. My mother had it done aswell. It is just a costly operation. I am looking at about 1000 an eye minimum. We will see how it all turns out. Just have to save my pennies. I'm not worried about the pain. I have worked in the steel industry for 20 years. Cuts and fractures are common place in this industry. I could get the free option but I would still need glasses. Seems like a waste to me. I would rather pay a little extra and not need glasses at all. For now it is back to shooting and videos to the best of my capability until I get my eyes fixed
@@ATOMark the cost of the surgery sucks! Hopefully things will work out and you will be able to get the surgery you need brother.
I know what you mean about dealing with pain. I’ve been a welder and fabricator for 30 years and I also repair and do maintenance on industrial manufacturing machinery. Lots of cuts, burns mashed off finger tips. 😂
Lol so true. People don't know how many times I have pulled off a fingernail like pealing off a band aid and went back to work. Lol
@@ATOMark yup. I hear that brother
I'm a diabetic and too am fighting blindness.
Still shoot good just by feel.
Must be tuff. Is there anything that could be done surgically to help your sight?
Nice hammock mate, shit loss of sight and the rest sounds scary. Good effort with getting it checked, Get well soon dude 🙏
The scary shot is over. Now I just need to save up for the surgery andbI will be in action.
That s robin is just amazing
You're a really good shot a lot of it is down to form clean realise you're repetition watching
Im no expert but sometimes Seeing the target awesome is great but sort of overrated, if you can make You're foresight or fork corner crisp in focus and the target slightly blury shooting with both eyes open for really good snap shooting, this is mainly pistol thought, I gota say I find myself closing an eye having fun with the torque
Great shooting though brother
@@ifv2089 this is what i try to do. Yhe problem is I can't get my fork to focus any more. So alot of what I am shooting now is guess work. I am starting to try keeping both eyes open and it helps a little but if I get any glare on my eye from the sun forget it I just put the catty away.
@@ATOMark yea thats going to make it hard to send it, Could settle on a frying pan as a target or move target closer, but not the same magic deffo. Both eyes open you could get really good at guessing lol, all else fails Archery is completely adaptive. I knew of an eod guy who was a basically torso with a head n blind he did archery on recovery course wearing a harness and a mouth pull cord realise as well as buzzers etc never looked back. But I Hope surgery fix it mate
Good see you still loving it
The frames they are making today mind blown ! Maybe try adapt a true glow dot or fiber for the fork tip 👍
Glad you're still up and kicking. Life can be a bitch.
Don't overdo the weight loss, skinny is not your body type.

@@ATOMark I'm having a scare with my throat right now. Idk whsts up with it. It's damn good thing you thought to get healthy
I'll figure the funds out. It may take a little time but I'll work it out. There is a free option but I will still need glasses for far and close. I am hoping to eliminate the distance.
Oh no! Whats going on? Did you see a doc. I hope it is nothing serious.
That's some serious shit to deal with , good to hear you're pulling through and staying strong . Big respect on the weight loss , it takes a lot of self discipline . I'm still shooting the Evo with 0.8 GW 25-15mm as my go to setup thanks to your review and band test . Great to see you back and looking forward to future videos .
I cant wait for that HGH to be released. Its going to be awesome. 2020 has been a total mess. I am finally starting to feel like the dark cloud over my head has moved on.
@@ATOMark Just checked out the HGH , exactly the type of slingshot I like , one for the collection .
How heavy is the pull on the.8 GW?
I never measured it nut it is surprisingly light in my opinion.
@@nOObels1 Hi , I find the .8 GW manageable . It's a strong band but with a smooth even extension and once drawn ok to hold , the release doesn't snatch . That's at 25-15mm for 9.5mm steel . I'd like to try the .85GW for 11mm steel especially after watching this ( warning it's a kill shot ) ua-cam.com/video/-FApLUkyBFg/v-deo.html

Hey buddy I was wondering whats a good fast taper for 3/8 steel using simple shot .5
25-15. Plenty fast.
@@ATOMark thanks for the reply sir I'm using that taper actually just made the set up of 24/12 .5 for my 5/16 and that thing moves lol
Also big thanks too you bro for real......I met a pretty awesome dude named "andri" cuz I wanted a Begal v2 lol he'd had nothing but good things to say about you but yeah keep up the good work and keep your head up your awesome buddy 😀
Oh ya. I use 24-12 for 5/16 I think all of my band tests are that taper. I mostly shoot 18-12 or 20-12 when target shooting. It is still plenty fast and can pop holes in a soup can with less draw weight.
Thanks man. Andri is an awesome dude. Very talented builder too.
Hey bud be sure to get checked more than often now. My dad is dying from an extremely aggressive cancer that branched from a skin cancer on his neck. thanks for the conent
Ya bro, I get checked by a Dermatologist every 6 months and I go back if anything pops up. Sorry to hear about your dad man.
