I'm a purist, but I'm old, like when arcades first began old. This is exactly what I hoped to find so I can play classic arcade titles without straining my eyes. I built my own but the 19 inch monitor is just hard without glasses. Thank God for technology or my games would be lost eventually over my sight. I prefer to hit a high score as I pass one day in my 90s.
Check out the Dell 2007fpb with the serial number ending in "L" for the LG IPS panel. Might be what you've been looking for. It has worked exceptionally well for me.
@@bluey2cool The VA panel is as good, and has a better contrast if you are Pac-Man/Galaga fan. If you want to be certain about IPS, you can also hunt down a HP LP2065
If you're planning to use this with a PC / Emulation, its awesome. You can change your PC display settings from portrait to landscape. But be warned you cannot rotate the image 90 deg on the monitor itself - there is no such option in the menu. So its a no-go with upscalers like the RetroTink or OSSC. Super disappointing - especailly for the price. Nonetheless the image looks great, albeit its stuck in the vertical orientation.
For my current cabinet, I use a Eizo 21” 4:3 monitor. For this one I could go into the Windows control panel and rotate the screen to have a better fit correct?
At this size/aspect rotation is useless. Remember Pac-Man, that only had a 19 inch vertical screen. In landscape vertical games stil are like 25 inch diagonal. What I do worry about, is that the subpixels are horizontal in the prefered orientation (landscape) and that looks pretty weird. Like you see vertical scanlines.
Retro gaming was my first thought seeing this monitor. I have a Neo Geo AES and CD plus emulation setups, and would look amazing with arcade games. Another reason it appeals is that I can't really fit a wide curved or 2 x monitors, but I can go up. There is a Kogan unit that is nearly half the price and main difference is the stand so no issues going that one for me
Speaking of monitors, I did the arcade 1up pinball 32" monitor mod this past week. Turned out great! I actually used a different LG monitor that is 2k 165htz. Thanks again!
If it was cheaper, I would definitely swap this one in place of the other LCD monitors that I currently have in some of my arcade. Fingers crossed when the new line up of products rolls out for next year this one goes down in price.
I love how good the colours look! The greens look so vibrant. The old arcade monitors never were in good condition back in the day, and don’t get me wrong as I still like CRT monitors. Also: CRT monitors need regular maintenance 👨🔧 and calibration to run perfectly.

No doubt about it...retro gamers dream monitor...all the inputs you need...price is bit too high for me like many of us here...and I'd probably have to pay extra shipping cost to England too...and the fact I'm very limited in space here...I use a 19inch TV 2xHDMI and VGA at low resolution...although this LG being taller means it's not as wide as a typical 28inch...probably more like a 24inch screen width...still a little wide...LG bring out a slightly smaller version at half price for small rooms with tiny desks...or I move to a more normal property
I do not recommend this monitor if you want to use it for a supergun set up and arcade PCB's. The reason being is that the monitor itself does not have options available to fill the screen or rotate the image. This will be totally dependent on the android box, raspberry pi you are using. The image on this monitor is nice and no input lag that I could notice. But filling the screen on horizontal or vertical games using arcade hardware is non existent. Just an FYI for anyone considering a purchase.
Apologies for the late question but you’re saying this monitor does not have any stretch or fill functions in the menu? In that case my idea to throw a 640x480 image on this and stretch to fill will not work then!😞

" it looked perfect for it, yet only saw people trying modern games which is definitely not for this monitor. And today out of curiosity decided to check again and finally found this channel... now I decided to buy this monitor but I'm going to wait until I find a good deal for it.
Wonder if you could do a build video. Showing this in a cabinet, especially how to get vertical games to auto run in vertical mode (obviously expecting to have to reorient the monitor physically. Just referring to the game itself). That would be rad. Wondering if there is an option in coin ops or something.
You can make two config files in mame/ini folder that will do this. One called horizont and the other vertical. You turn off keep aspect in the horizont.ini and leave it on in the vertical.ini.
Sweet review!! I will pick one of these up in the near future. My Street Figher 2 Alpha arcade monitor has a short in its controller board and I haven't been able to figure it out hopefully the dimension fit :)
