    Hi Beatrice! Thanks for the video, really helpful. How low does the light have to be when you're first applying the solution? Is it minimal natural light but some artificial light ok?

    • @OrphaBeatrice
      @OrphaBeatrice  2 роки тому

      Yes, I would keep the lights as low as possible!

    Hey, these turned out so beautiful, wow! never heard of that technique before... I am wondering, did you just mix the powder with tap water? I don't trust our water here, it is very chalky (? I don't know the right english term and couldn't find it on Google, haha) and there is chloride in it. So... am I on the safe side to use destillated water?

      Denise Yes, use distilled water 😊

    Hi there, can you only do this on paper? Can this be applied to wood?

    Will the cyanotype damage the items that you use at all? Do you suggest wiping off the items after?

      I wouldn’t recommend consuming anything that has been used (we tossed the dill we used in the video) but soap and water will remove the solution from non-porous items. Thanks for watching ♥️

    how much water should I add to the bottles? should I fill them up to the top?
    it seems there are quite a few people asking this question but no answers yet.

    • @OrphaBeatrice
      @OrphaBeatrice  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the directions say to fill the bottle. I would not fill it to overflowing, all the way to the top

      @@OrphaBeatrice Thank you!
      I have done few cyanotypes after this video and they turned out great!
      I have done some calculations and since the bottles contain different amounts of chemicals, they need almost the exact amount of water to create the right solution.
      in short, filling up the bottles with distilled water almost up to the top makes sense! and it does work.
      Thanks again, Beatrice!

    How long can you keep the dry paper before using?

    • @OrphaBeatrice
      @OrphaBeatrice  3 роки тому

      Only a few hours!

      I don't know about Jacquard's solution, but if you make it yourself then if the coated and dry paper is in the dark, then they are usable for a few weeks (if you put a gelatin layer before) without any issues. Tho I recommend using them ASAP, just to be sure.

    Why does my solution turn deep green when I mix the solution. Any ideas?

    • @OrphaBeatrice
      @OrphaBeatrice  3 роки тому +2

      It’s being exposed to too much light when mixing and applying. Try mixing and applying and drying in lower natural light!
