  • I went out looking for my first keeper Striper of the year, and was rewarded with a solid 25 inch fish. To make things even better the Striper came in on my super light perch rod and fought like it was a 20 pounder. I highly recommend fishing with as light as rod as you can get away with, it really brings the fight out of these smaller fish.

I caught a 19” striper on a 8’6” ML rod - it was fun battling with the fish in the surf.

I’ve been looking into this rod. How well does the medium light handle the sp minnow? That would be the heaviest lure I throw on it but wasn’t sure if the medium would be better.

Surf Caster it's great to see you back again in action with videos. You always fish dim light ..daybreak and/or sunset. Your probability of catching fish increases greatly then. WHY? Fish like avoiding avian predators. Your low surf and wave frequency where you catch fish is unparalleled, anywhere! Is there any other place that produces with such calm waters and fish? If so, WHERE? Glad you're back in the surf. Looking forward to your next success story. Do you still bike to the fishing grounds?
