Hi! I had an interrupted call with Terry last week. We rescheduled for Tues at 5pm Italy time, but the phone call never came! I emailed him back yesterday and as of this morning at 9:30 am I didn't get a reply! Hopefully we can get together soon! I'm eager to find out more about applying for dual citizenship by descent. Thanks for this information today!
Also Sam I just need to find out if my great grandfather's were naturalized. My great grandmother was born in Italy but died in New Orleans, LA at the age of 49. She had 7 children my grandfather was #3 and his father also was born in Italy died in New Orleans. My great grandmother's father and mother were born in Italy and died in New Orleans. Pretty much all my ancestors were born in Italy except for my grandfather and his siblings. I contacted the archdiocese in New Orleans of the church they were all attending and had the baptisms, funerals etc.. And she wrote back and said they only do the genealogy when they aren't too busy, call back in 3 months. But she also said they would not know if my grandparents naturalized or not. I'm needing advice on how do I find out!? Terry was going to help me but we got disconnected and he hasn't called back yet. Thank you, Annette
Ciao Annette! The best way to go about this is with a naturalization search smartmoveitaly.thrivecart.com/citizenship-support-natsearch/ . In the future, you can also reach out via smartmoveitaly.com/contact (bottom of pg).
opening a bank account it's fine but for US citizen there are lots of limitations while investing their money if they want to do so and this is not because of the italian laws but because of the bilateral treaties between EU and USA (W8-BEN form and so on). US citizen must declare their income even if they don't reside in the US anymore and therefore also the related investments have lots of limitations. However, I think that a US citizen resident abroad will still keep is savings in the US.
Hello! Can you please tell me what the process would be if you had dual citizenship for US & Mexico ? Would the process be easier if someone were to apply with Mexican citizenship?
Ciao! Good question, but only European citizenship simplifies the process in Italy, without it you'll need a visa and upon arrival, to apply for a Permesso di Soggiorno (PDS). Here's a link to our free visa guide and services smartmoveitaly.com/visa22 .
Without EU citizenship, you'll need a visa to stay in Italy for more than 90 days in a 180 day period. You can download our free visa guide here smartmoveitaly.com/visa22

You have to have residency to open a bank account but you need to have bank account to apply for residency?
No, you don't need an Italian bank account to apply for residency.

Hi Sam. What happens if you have a British passport?
Without EU citizenship, you'll need a visa to stay in Italy for more than 90 days in a 180 day period. You can download our free visa guide here smartmoveitaly.com/visa22
This is a well made video - except not all of us need a visa.
Thanks! That's true, EU citizens don't need visas.
