Something I really dislike about Nitrogen Thomas is, well, Thomas himself. I swear, most of his episodes revolve around "Thomas has a job and messes it up"... which, yeah, we've seen them a lot the five seasons before, but what makes it worse in the Nitrogen era is the fact that he ACTIVELY ABANDONS the job he's meant to do just to do something else, often because he thinks what he's doing is the right thing to go. Take "Thomas and the Pigs", for example. Thomas is asked by Farmer Trotter to collect straw for his pigs, which are going into labour. Thomas agrees to do so, and as he does, he bumps into his friends who are delivering other items. Thomas, completely unprompted, decides that the straw can wait and instead decides to deliver the items his friends are taking to the pigs, because in his smokebox he knows for a fact that they'll like them more than silly old straw. So Thomas collects so much random crap that, when he FINALLY gets to Farmer McColl to collect the straw, there's no longer any room on his flatbeds. So Farmer McColl tells Thomas that he dun goofed and that he must deliver the straw otherwise the pigs will be sad. But instead of realising what a silly little engine he is and understanding that he must do the right thing, something he should absolutely be learning at this point of the episode because that's how it works in literally every HIT episode prior, Thomas basically says "YOU'RE NOT MY DAD, GINGER MOUSTACHE MAN! I KNOW THE PIGLETS WILL LIKE THIS STUFF MORE THAN YOUR SMELLY OLD STRAW!" and delivers the crap to Farmer Trotter and says "Hey, I know you wanted straw, but I found this cool stuff that I know for a fact the pigs will like so much more." THIS is the problem I have with Nitrogen Thomas. He has it stuck in his smokebox that he always knows the right solution, even when he clearly doesn't. He thinks he knows more about caring for pigs than two professional farmers, who have probably worked with livestock for most of their lives, because... reasons! And yeah, he realises his mistake, but that's only after Farmer Trotter tells him the EXACT SAME THING that Farmer McColl ALREADY TOLD HIM! This is basically EVERY Thomas episode in the Nitrogen era. It is SO much worse than it was in the HIT era. It's not like "Smoke & Mirrors" when Thomas collects the wrong items for the magic show because he was still collecting the items he THOUGHT were needed - he wasn't completely off. It's not like "Thomas and Skarloey's Big Day Out" when he disobeyed instructions to take Skarloey straight to the works because he at least had a motive, and quite a selfless one at that - he genuinely wanted to cheer Skarloey up.
Yes, I agree. It's funny that most, if not all of Gordons episodes are actually good ones. James Edward, and some of the new characters as well. But since Thomas has the huge majority, the ratio of bad to good is far from balanced.
I do agree with the episodes you chose. I thought of another good episode from that era A Blooming Mess, where Emily try to help Mavis when she thinks she is sad and try to decorate the quarry with flowers.
I do agree with you on the mostly enjoyable episode like Snow Tracks, happy birthday sir, Percy and the calliope and Edward the hero. While this era has a lot of bad episodes, there was some good episodes that were worth talking about like the ones I mentioned
Nice ranking Personally mine would probably be (Worst) 10. Thomas and the Snowman Party 9. Thomas’ Tall Friend 8. Jumping Jobi Wood 7. Percy’s New Friends 6. Race to the Rescue 5. Fiery Flynn 4. Up, Up and Away 3. Wonky Whistle 2 Henry’s Magic Box 1. Bust my Buffers Others that I enjoy include Creaky Cranky, Diesel’s Special Delivery, Merry Misty Island, Victor Says Yes, James to the Rescue, and Express Coming Through
I wouldn't find myself rewatching all of the Nitrogen era due to how badly repetitive it was and too much of a drag to sit through, though I would occasionally rewatch a few episodes like Tickled Pink, A Blooming Mess, Snow Tracks, Victor Says Yes (even if it's questionable why we need two separate works for both steam and diesels, but hey) Spencer the Grand, Welcome Stafford, Don't Bother Victor and Percy & the Calliope. Also, Victor Says Yes is the equivalent opposite of Stacy Says No from Shining Time Station - different ways of either yes or no and how to handle their own situations for better or worse.
Even the worst era of the show has its gems. Yes I’m saying I hate the Miller/Nitrogen era more than BWBA, that’s just my opinion. Let it Snow is One of My Favorites in the Nitrogen Era because of Thomas and Gordon’s Dynamics, Beautiful music/visuals, and The Logging Locos being likable!

Honestly bust my buffers might be 1 of my favorite episodes in the era As not only does it feel like a 2 strike episode (As only salty and Mavis tell Gordon to go back to the diesel works) But it's also because it's actually a callback to day of the diesel sort of Long story short in the movie Den and Dart That they only fix diesels, Gordon got a hold of this and after they changed that rule Gordon never Gordon got a hold of this and after they changed that rule Gordon never hooked on to it (That's how I see it in my eyes) This error might be boring but it's way better than big world adventures any day

Thanks a lot!
Honestly bust my buffers might be 1 of my favorite episodes in the era As not only does it feel like a 2 strike episode (As only salty and Mavis tell Gordon to go back to the diesel works) But it's also because it's actually a callback to day of the diesel sort of
Long story short in the movie Den and Dart That they only fix diesels, Gordon got a hold of this and after they changed that rule Gordon never Gordon got a hold of this and after they changed that rule Gordon never hooked on to it (That's how I see it in my eyes)
This error might be boring but it's way better than big world adventures any day
*era
I actually prefer BWBA because it was more entertaining for not repeating the same episode formula.
Thomas Is really the Only one that doesn't tease Gordon about the Diesel buffer.

Nice list, though those are a lot of honorable and dishonorable mentions. sounds like a top 20 list is in order.😉
I take it back what I said about Spencer the Grand and I thinks it’s My Second Favorite Nitrogen Era Episode!
I dont really have any bad episodes in this era. Im nostalgic for nitrogen era even tho it had bad writing its had some nostalgic
Hey, if they bring you joy, go ahead and watch em. I personally never saw CGI Thomas when I was younger, so I have no nostalgia for it.
@SodorFan15 oh alright
Henry’s Good Deeds is Also another Episode that’s one of my favorites because instead of being a complete selfish idiot like he was in Beast of Sodor and Freaking Henry Spots Trouble, he was being kind, gentle, and brave to the Bird which I like!
I made a video on the best episodes of the nitrogen era.
#5 Happy birthday sir
#4 Edward the hero
#3. Double trouble
#2 Percy & the calliope
#1 Jitters & Japes.
Did you see it and did it want you to make this video
I haven't yet, I was actually motivated to get the most video i could out of my watch of the seasons. But I'll be sure to head over and check yours out.😉
@ Thanks
Why aren't the most worse episodes like Creaky Cranky or Pop Goes Thomas?
Well, those are bad episodes. they just didn't make it into my personal top ten. Consider them dishonorable mentions.
@@seanalailima5929 Creaky Cranky is Actually Really Underrated for Concluding Thomas and Cranky’s Longtime Rivalry on a High Note!
@DiegoMatos-u6u As for Pop Goes Thomas?
@ Nuh Huh, That Episode Sucks because of Thomas’s Stupidity here, and it’s horrible and in My Top 20 Worst Thomas Episodes of all time!
@ Where is the video?
This Era Is Just Peppa Pig 2.0
Good.
i know this will sound nitpicky, but...
...the outro uses "they're" (contraction of "they are") when it's clear from the context it should be "their" (possessive pronoun)
Oh yea, my bad. I'll try and fix that in future.
The nitrogen era is way more watchable than bwba
I sort of agree. Its watchable, but it can put you too sleep with how most of it is boring. Whereas BWBA makes you want to turn it off for how stupid most of it is.
I respectfully disagree. BWBA may be more unrealistic but at least it doesn’t repeat the formula for every single episode and it did keep Edward and Henry in character. And don’t tell me Nitrogen treated the engines like trains cause 1, the physics in that era were terrible too (case in point - Thomas bumping forward after bumping into Charlie despite only starting a few meters away and somehow being fast enough to derail him) and 2, BWBA showed them doing train things as well.
@@joshuaW5621 I guess it comes down to perspective at the end of the day. I don't mind if you prefer BWBA over Nitrogen btw, that's just how you see it.
Season 13 is the most watchable of The nitrogen era and is the least boring of the four season the pacing is more snappy in season 14 15 and 16 season 13 is not a great season by any means it had some bad episodes to like splish splash splash the early bird slippy sodor and the lion of sodor there's some good episodes like snow tracks tickle Pink blooming Mess creaky cranky and steamy soldier the rest of the episodes are okay mediocre or mid overall season 13 is the most watchable for the nitrogen
This is a cool video
Thank you.
Np. Also there a reason why the dieselsworks 25:58 are not a thing until DOTD and S15
