I have a lot of respect for Neil Peart❣️
I am sorry he has gone to heaven, but I would like to dedicate a cover of this wonderful song to him🥁

Her favorite drummers are John Henry Bonham, Chris Coleman, Nate Smith, Chad Smith and David Grohl.
Her dream is to travel around the world and have sessions with people all over the world. Her recently dream is to play at the Tokyo Olympics.
Sweet Jesus...she found Rush.
Amen - I hope she does Strangiato next...
Mr Peart would have been quite impressed
And having a good ol time with it...I feel like this is a decent leap in her skills
Ya, I saw the link on the right for YYZ and instantly thought 'oh goodness, thats it ... off she goes'
..😂...yeaaaahhhh...Neil is well happy👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The master may be gone, but the force is strong in this one. Neil lives through her.
Well i was gonna leave a comment but it would have sucked compared to yours.
You hit it right on the nose - if this boomer and lifelong Rush fan close my eyes, surely I can imagine good old Neil smiling.
Rest In Peace, Professor ☮️❤️🥁
If Alex and Geddy would ever consider playing Rush material again live - I hope they think about doing an appearance in a charity show with Yoyoka.
That would've been bloody fantastic. Just for one specific event, like charity as you said. The performance would've been legendary.
Yup. I've been thinkin' that for a while :-)
would be mindblowing..
Rush only played Japan one tour, back in the mid 80s. They had so many issues with their shows (equipment, set-up, travel) that they never went back.
Technically amazing, but for me the best part is the obvious joy on her face - when I play this my expression is just a mix of pain and concentration!
This song is easy for her.thats why she's smiling.watch her play rosanna.she ain't smiling.shes working on that song.and she nails it.
Good call! There’s a video where Ian Paice is watching a video of her playing I think it’s Space Trucking but it might be Highway Star and he said she was playing it the right way but the best part was she was having fun playing!
Well then you're playing it just like Neil.
She played this song on 6 drums in comparison to Neil's 70+ drums and killed it with her ghost notes
Ghost notes?
@@travelinman482 it's a filler beat played on the snare drum. It's a slight tap to keep the rhythm. Easy to learn, hard to master. She's using it like she's been playing for 30 years. This kid's talent level is WAY beyond her years.
@@bazookajoe6133
Oh, I don’t know anything about percussion. I only play guitar(s).
Yep she's amazing
Decades from now, when books are written about the covid pandemic, there will be a chapter about the positive stories that helped the world get through this difficult period, and there in print will be a young Japanese drumming phenom named Yoyoka.
I agree 💯 percent
I absolutely agree with you I was so sad and then I got to watch her play the drums and her family together was great
I asked Yoyoka Q&A "What was the most difficult song you've played?" and she said YYZ. You can't tell by her playing thought, so natural, perfect execution and full of joy.
Really? Do you have a link? Did she elaborate on why she found it so difficult?
Watch Yoyoka live Q & A video
@@mc26collum I just watched it. It didn't mention YYZ. Did she do more than one interview?
@@mc26collum Link please? Or are you just fabricating a little?
@@johncalvo1743 She said it again in this Q&A with Ellen (time 27:00):
ua-cam.com/video/bcgr3iBn8gs/v-deo.html
The rhythm comes from her core. The Force is strong in this one.
You know you’ve made it as a drummer when Yoyoka covers your song.
@jeffy acorn likewise
Be happy. Stay hip.
Most people don't even know of a song called YYZ.
Really Can't Argue with that!! :D \,,/
Wrong.... you've made it when you do Neil proud....
Ha, think it’s the other way around
Watch out! Yoyoka has discovered Neil Peart! It’s all over now!
Billy Cobham next please
Virgil Donati next!
You're right.
yeah there's enough there to keep her going for awhile.
It seems like a natural progression to me. She started with Bonzo and mastered his patterns, then she figured out Steward Copeland's insanity. Neal Peart seemed like a logical peak to strive for. While she killed this song, I'd love to see her tackle some of the more challenging drum parts from Rush. I think she can do it!
I am going thru her entire playlist, and my eyes are very wet and I have to keep blowing my nose. This girl is just so amazing that I am awestruck and in a state of disbelief. The roots of this girl are beyond biology. Beyond the material universe. It's great that we have video of her to share with future generations 💜
The rock and roll drummer Angel's are blessing this wonderful soul, keeping the ROCK ROLL music and soul ALIVE! RnR will neverDIE,
In a way I'm not surprised she's good at such a young age. When someone is born to do something they're always good at it right away. When you're this good you don't learn it, you unleash it.
Underrated comment here
You are going to get a lot of new fans with this one.
Nailin'it.
Well said.
@Genessender G Yeah, very much like Bill Bruford!
Yes, and us old fans love you even more. I never listened to Rush, but this might actually make me start. Feel like you reached a new high with this cover.
Yup. Just heard about her on the radio and watched the video. Canada's on board now.
The little dance of the sticks @2:11 had me rolling 😂😂😂😂😂
That's part of the Yoyoka charm!
I'm no drummer, but that seemed absolutely stratospheric. Our Yoyoka is a phenom.
Saying it again - RUSH needs to do a tribute concert to Neil on the anniversary of his passing doing all the classics with guest drummers paying tribute to the late great Neil Peart... and for YYZ, I can think of no one better then our little Yoyoka!
"Yeah, Alex? Yeah, this is Geddy. Hey, about that 'we'll never tour again thing' I said, well . . . . "
😂😂😂💙
Rush touring without Neil Peart would be just as bad as sinning God.
Josh No, it would sinning god.
YEEEESSSSS Yoyoka is doing Rush. Neil is smiling hearing this.
Daaaaaamn straight
Mozt definitely!
Neil don't care
Seeing the joy on her face and her full engagement, while performing this song makes me appreciate this song so much more!!
Neil Peart genius! R.I.P. Congratulations Yoyoka!
She nails it, and with a drum kit with 1/10th the number of drums that Peart used. 😁
I thought that was a little boy, omg. I just thought maybe his pants were from last year and too small but there ya go...
To be fair, Peart didn't use 1/10th of his kit either.
Marquis de Suave lmaoooo
@@GodsMistake Check out her socks... It's the magic socks that makes those triplets off the bass.
her signature " Marching Arms " in the break with that look and a smile just cracks me up
I've been sick for three days and could barely lift my head. I am sitting here smiling happily watching you play. It's made my whole day better. Thank you from an old Rush fan. :)
I hope you're feeling much better. 🙂
Only 217K subscribers? The world should be ashamed of itself.
I still can't believe that Yoyoka doesn't have a million subscribers, yet. That day will come though...
They don't know what they're missing...
Let people know about this young Queen of rock and we will get her there. 👍😏🇬🇧
Deep roots grow slow!
Les Allison totally agree, I try and share little Yoyoka as much as possible. She and her family deserve every success just for the joy they bring to so many. The comments to her videos are testament to that.
lets celebrate we are here before 150K!
This song is a sort of defining moment for you Yoyoka, your sense of timing is astounding, you don't observe the music, you live inside it. Brava.
indeed
A dancer might be technically excellent, but still counts steps. Exceptional dancers simply hear and dance to the music. This is what Yoyoka does.
Living inside the music is a precise description of her playing. I’ve used different language to describe that about her. It’s like she’s dancing to the music but using drums instead. She’s the most natural drummer I’ve ever seen. This is aside from the fact that she’s a technical monster; I’m talking about something else, like I think you are.
@@koshersalaami The technical details such as the foot shimmy on those precise double kicks, and that apparently sentient high hat, certainly set her apart, but Yoyoka's talent runs far deeper than technique, as you so rightly pointed out.
Let this sink in, ...10 years old!
Rush just found their new drummer. Time to tour again in memory of Neil Peart. You go girl! The future is all yours.
Could you imagine? OMG....that would be so epic! Yoyoka on tour with Alex and Geddy. Holy mother! I'd buy a van and go to every show!
You took my thought!
I wish Neil was here to hear this
I cannot stop watching everything she does I'm so amazed we have found the world's best drummer
@@leggomyeigonosensei Good call!
This little girl becomes a giant behind a drum set.
She is amazing!
unnecessary lage set ,her drum skill
She's such a badass. And yet so full of sunshine and joy
Goes from a ray of sunshine to full nova blast and back in a second.
Those who disliked this video is plain ENVIOUS to a 10 year old kid. This kid is trying to pay tribute to the one of the best drummers of all time. RIP Neil Peart.
"This kid is trying to pay tribute to the one of the best drummers "
That's probably in your mind. I don't wanna be so negative, but the comments here are over the top. She probably didn't know Neil thru his 40 year career. This channel is probably just cashing in on the novelty of a 10 y/o girl.
(I just checked. Looks like this is the only Rush song she has on her channel)
She just covered the 🐐 with a 6 set. Not to mention she's 11 years old. This is once in a blue moon talent.
I agree with your assessment: "This is once in a blue moon talent". She is a great talent, full of joy, yet hard working, humble and kind. However, a tiny correction: she was 10 years old, not 11. AFAIK, she's still at Elementary school. She played a little bit of YYZ recently. I think on a live stream? It was effortless for her. I was genuinely shocked. Happy New Year to You and Yours.
Sitting in my kitchen sipping coffee at 6 in the morning watching Yoyoka cover Rush...priceless
I don't know what I enjoy more, seeing her playing or seeing her enjoying play
true rock drummer...her cover of gfr we're an american band is my favorite
Oh, my first Rush drum cover might as well get YYZ out of the way...
😆
LOL Ya Hemisperes next. Been waiting for Yoyoka to hear some Rush.We just saw that there is no limit to her comprehension.
Lol well if you put it that way!
I think Geddy and Alex need to look this kid up. I'll definitely pay to see that!
I love how at the end, she looks up at the camera, starts the trademark (should be by now) Yoyoka stick wave, and smiles...as in "any questions???".
"What The World Needs Now, Is ....Yoyoka" . Thank you to her parents for giving the world a magnificent treasure!
It's the only thing...that there's just...too little drums.
Many fans want RUSH.
Thanks 😘 Yoyoka
Omg!!! I'm a Rush fanatic!
I don't think I've ever heard ANYONE cover Rush's Neil Peart as well as she did, & 10yrs old?
God, Watch over her, bc she might end up being one the best drummers who's ever existed!
Love ya Yoyoka!❣️🎆❣️!
Agree she's on her way.
Neil Peart January 2020 : RIP 🙏
YoYoKa August 2020 : Resurrection Of The Professor 🤘
That’s a look of pure joy when she plays. She is phenomenal now for her age. As she matures and finds her own voice...Well, I just want to be around to see that.
i know! it makes her happy and she loves it and I hope for the best for her.
She's just plain phenomenal, no matter her age.
I remember the first time I saw this little squirt YEARS ago when her channel started. I told my daughter "Watch this kid...She's gonna be playing YYZ someday and killing it." It just happened and it's oddly surreal to see Yoyoka 2 feet taller and murdering this song after Neil's unfortunate passing. Years later and I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this young lady's talent.
All I can say is WOW! There are some musicians that have that something special that can’t be described and this young lady has “it”. You can’t teach someone to do that, it’s flowing from her soul. Tremendous talent.
I absolutely love how much fun she's having ... while at the same time nailing it. Amazing ... hats off!
I think The Professor himself would approve. He’s definitely smiling from the heavens
Brilliant. Would love to see you cover Tom Sawyer next. But this was brilliant.
Totally agree. Her talent is stunning
Another vote for Tom Sawyer. That would be amazing.👍
Nah, I think she's ready to level up to the top. She should go straight to "La Villa Strangiato" for her next Rush cover ;)
@@gustafsone Amen, that's the true benchmark!
Wow! That’s awesome! Nice job! Timing is next to perfect!
Compared to other young drummers these days, yoyoka shows her love for drums far greater than any of them. Shes fully immersed into each song, not trying to put on an act for the camera, or look at it constantly. Her skill shows tremendously through her humble but kick ass performance!!!
In addition I’m just amazed how professional she is in their band setting even from the age of 5!!! Pat 🏴
Neil Peart is reborn in a Japanese girl.. you have a great gift!! X👍👍👍
I love the fact that its obvious she is really enjoying herself. So many videos of child musical prodigy's here on YT that just looked pained or emotionless while performing.
That's what a couple of friends and I have talked about. She's not just good, she's INTO IT, in a big way, and that translates to how great she plays & sounds.
Not Junna.
@PlanckTime Runner What's wrong with Tina??
@PlanckTime Runner Maybe she's on Instagram, I'll take a look
Yeah, tell me about it. I hate when parents live through their children. It's cool to see she really enjoys it herself
Greetings from Texas USA, we need t-shirts saying" we love YOYOKA".
Don't Mess With Yoyoka!!!
She is so awesome. I really enjoy watching her. Her joy brings me joy. I hope she never loses that joy.
Well, that's it. Nothing she does surprises me any more. I've seen a lot of drummers cover this, but her footwork is especially flawless, and that's the hardest part.
The socks, the stick dance at 2:11 and stick wave - The drumming is incredible and amazing, but it's those happy little things that go straight to the heart.
I'd like to think that "The Professor" would be very pleased and very proud of you, Yoyoka!
When you see her play as an 8 year old girl, you love her for it.
But looking where she is at right now, it's really sheer RESPECT that I have for this girl.
Just pure respect man.....
You make me cry with joy! I grew up with RUSH living here in Toronto and you play this song so beautifully. You have made it, actually long ago, as an elite drummer! Awesome!
She is one of the best drummer's iv ever seen. She has fun
Wow. Her wrist action is amazing. This particular Rush song is at expert level for drummers. I've seen many adult drummers who can't do what this kid can do. Totally amazing!
You’ve now mastered the 2 greatest drummers of all time. Bonzo and Neil. Well done young lady and keep smiling.
Imagine a kid crushing YYZ. Dr. Krieger would be jealous
I read this as YYZed
I'm sure Dr. Krieger is jealous. Unless.. she is one of his creations??
Greatness!!
**Smoke Bomb!!**
1:23 - 1:25 - That hi-hat work is amazing.
Good God how is this even possible?!..not only is it seemingly effortless for her but she's actually dancing and having a blast!!...this would be mind blowing if she was 35 years old but 10????...c'mon!!🤯
“Come on man, it's not possible.”
-President Select Joe Biden
I think you made a serious observation - she isn't just playing the drums, she's dancing while playing. Her fluidity of movement gives her amazing power. The best drummers always seem to find that inside of them.
That's traditional Japanese art of the pursuit of being the best you can be: hours and hours and hours and hours of practice.
@@weekendpartier shit that was hard 30s years ago is now chump shit. this is what happens.
This is a very complex drumming to cover and she nails it with a kit that doesn't have as many cans as the original. And a real cool song as well and she is so into it. I can't but laugh cuz she's having such a great time.
I couldn't stop smiling throughout this performance. What a treasure Yoyoka is !
The JOY!!! Biggest lesson she has for us all is not how to play the drums... it’s how to play ANYTHING.
Rush fan here!! Yoyoka plays the drums from her heart & soul. Her passion for playing makes her exceptional!! You rock, Yoyoka!! Keep playing & change the world!!🤘🎶🤘🎶
She's getting taller, chopped her locks and rocked YYZ...
The stick wave at the end is adorable... at this rate she'll own her own drumming university by age 20! 🤩
That timing, technic, hard hitting, and that drum roll... I think this kid is a robot
Made in Japan! (=゚ω゚)ノ
All I can say is ...Wow!!!....Drummers are going to watch this and think..'I've either got to get busy, or just hang it up'....
Yoyoka videos are something we never realize our life needed until we watch her. Then you realize you needed this all along.
That rocked young lady. Geddy Lee and the boys should be calling you soon.
@howard weitzell I would love to see a one-off set with Yoyoka sitting in with the band for a few songs. Lots of bands have been doing live streaming sessions with each band member at their own homes during the pandemic. Somebody needs to figure out how to get Yoyoka connected to some of the bands she has covered so she can actually play with them next time. That would be so awesome!
She makes me smile every time I watch one of her videos.....🤟
2:24 That kick drum pattern together with those ghost notes on the snare - giving me chills! Keep on going young lady, you are amazing!
She's inspired by Kalonica that ghost notes, Kalonica played it on snare and hihats, check out her videos more than 4 years ago!! Kalonica is the true innovator, inspiration and prodigy!!
Speechless....the world is your's for the taking....shine on little girl...shine on ☺
I still can't believe Mr. Peart is gone. His death has been hard on alot of us longtime Rush fans. This is a great tribute to a great drummer. Thank you, Yoyoka, you brought tears to my eyes.
What Yoyoka does is way more than just cover a good song..she gives them a second life..
Yoyoka , you just made Neil Peart smile in heaven . You have such energy and talent , absolutely remarkable ! You and that ride symbol with multiple time signatures is simply amazing beyond words . Thank you for making Neil smile and may he rest in peace . ❤
I spent more time learning this song than this little one has been alive
With all due respect to Neal Peart who was, and still is one of my favorite drummers. RIP But I cannot imagine him playing this well at age 10. Yoyoka is phenomenal. A force of nature, a human metronome that is always in the pocket. We love you in Savannah, GA. Yoyoka. The fun and joy you have playing is absolutely contagious. The most beautiful thing about you besides your drumming is the fact that you are an awesome human being . Congrats to your parents for doing such a great job. Keep having fun and please don't ever change !!!!!
Best Yoyoka truth comment!

Isn't it cool how her right hand and left hand seem to have independent minds of their own? And it's like she plays with her whole arm, not just from the wrist. Her style seems really unique.
she is unique, also both feet using the peddles at the same time,

You'd get an "A" from the Professor - well done.
Yoyoka never ceases to amaze. I was hoping she would do some Rush, and she crushed it. (By the way, for anyone who may not know, YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport.)
Just a coincidence? Did Rush pick those letters because of the airport? I heard the song title was for the syncopated morse code of symbols YYZ (in the intro).
And the opening notes are Morse Code for YYZ
Ahhh those ghost notes while she’s on the ride. Just awesome. Then the right cross for the crash back to the ride then that open hat fill. 10th I’ve watched this.
Just listened again. How is this even possible? Yoyoka plays with absolute precision and great power while just having a great time. It's a wonderful performance. I'm so impressed.
Drummers around the world hope to have yoyoka cover one of their songs, only to realize after, its not theirs anymore!!!!!
You covered Rush. Very good. And that took real guts.
The world needs this girl so much right now. Respect and love!
She really enjoys doing what she’s doing and good at it too.
She plays like Vinnie Colaiuta. Very impressive and enjoyable to watch. The way it should be.
