With all due respect to Neal Peart who was, and still is one of my favorite drummers. RIP But I cannot imagine him playing this well at age 10. Yoyoka is phenomenal. A force of nature, a human metronome that is always in the pocket. We love you in Savannah, GA. Yoyoka. The fun and joy you have playing is absolutely contagious. The most beautiful thing about you besides your drumming is the fact that you are an awesome human being . Congrats to your parents for doing such a great job. I agree with your assessment: "This is once in a blue moon talent". She is a great talent, full of joy, yet hard working, humble and kind. However, a tiny correction: she was 10 years old, not 11. AFAIK, she's still at Elementary school. She played a little bit of YYZ recently. I think on a live stream? It was effortless for her. I was genuinely shocked. Happy New Year to You and Yours.

Some humans just seem from early childhood to have a neuro-mystical wiring that makes a particular instrument and extension of their entire being. It happens with piano sometimes and is a transcendent experience to watch. But this is the first person I’ve seen be like this with drums and it moves me to tears every time.
@howard weitzell I would love to see a one-off set with Yoyoka sitting in with the band for a few songs. Lots of bands have been doing live streaming sessions with each band member at their own homes during the pandemic. Somebody needs to figure out how to get Yoyoka connected to some of the bands she has covered so she can actually play with them next time. That would be so awesome!
Yoyoka never ceases to amaze. I was hoping she would do some Rush, and she crushed it. (By the way, for anyone who may not know, YYZ is the airport code for Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport.)
Just a coincidence? Did Rush pick those letters because of the airport? I heard the song title was for the syncopated morse code of symbols YYZ (in the intro).
I still can't believe Mr. Peart is gone. His death has been hard on alot of us longtime Rush fans. This is a great tribute to a great drummer. Thank you, Yoyoka, you brought tears to my eyes.
Well, that's it. Nothing she does surprises me any more. I've seen a lot of drummers cover this, but her footwork is especially flawless, and that's the hardest part.
When you see her play as an 8 year old girl, you love her for it. But looking where she is at right now, it's really sheer RESPECT that I have for this girl. Just pure respect man.....
Yes, the facial+bodily expressions. It's so hard to describe, but every part of her being is expressing itself, radiating effortlessly. She's there, but in another way, she's not there. It's like she's enjoying being the conduit between an invisible source and the drum set; without thought, without any resistance or concern. Everything just unfolds as it should, with explosive power and impeccable timing; and she delights in the phenomena as much as we delight in her.
Many drummers cover this song well, but nothing close to this kid. I love the "added" Yoyoka ghost notes! She made this song all her own now. Made Neil wake up from the grave and slightly smile before he went back to eternal sleep. Just an incredible wonder! LOVED BY MANY.
Yoyoka , you just made Neil Peart smile in heaven . You have such energy and talent , absolutely remarkable ! You and that ride symbol with multiple time signatures is simply amazing beyond words . Thank you for making Neil smile and may he rest in peace . ❤
@@travelinman482 it's a filler beat played on the snare drum. It's a slight tap to keep the rhythm. Easy to learn, hard to master. She's using it like she's been playing for 30 years. This kid's talent level is WAY beyond her years.
Ahhh those ghost notes while she’s on the ride. Just awesome. Then the right cross for the crash back to the ride then that open hat fill. 10th I’ve watched this.
How lucky are we all to be witnessing the rise of this young phenom. Rush has been my favorite band my whole life because of Neil. You did him great respect Yoyoka. Very Very good job. Neil is smiling down upon you.
I really love how she does those stick dances in between pauses just so she can keep the time and groove. More so, she performed YYZ using just a friggin five-piece drumset. Plus her dedication to Neil Peart in the video description is so touching. Her talent is as big as her heart. 🥁 = ♥️
I sound like a broken record , but her work on the hi-hat is just perfection......Every country in the world should open their borders and allow her to travel round and play , she would give everyone such a lift in these trying times.
whatever cosmic forces lined up which resulted in Yoyoka landing on my suggested videos 3 days ago,,i am thankful for.ive been binging on her drum vids for 3 days now and feel like a happier person.thank you Yoyoka you are a blessing to this world.
It’s all in her head! She’s got everything in her head mesmerized mesmerized and she’s absolutely beautiful and amazing and so much fun to watch and listen to and so young. Please to her parents my truest request is please do not let her drink or do drugs to experience life is one thing but not that way but through music in what she’s doing now is absolutely beautiful. What a beautiful musician this young lady is. Don’t let her stop. God bless all of you and stay healthy and safe
Normally, I'm simultaneously impressed and depressed by watching children a fourth my age be masters of an instrument, but in her case, I could watch all day and only be thoroughly impressed and uplifted. No feelings of jealousy or resentment because she's so clearly enjoying every second and it's infectious.
As a proud Canadian, I can speak for all of us and say you did a great cover of YYZ. Neil would be proud as we know Alex and Geddy are as well. Neil said himself in Rush R&RHF induction speach, “The highest purpose of art is to inspire. What else can you do for anyone but inspire them?” We greatly admire your love of Rush and Neil Peart. They truly are legends.

There's something wrong with those thumbs down people. I play drums myself but, not as good as Yoyoka does it and I'm not jealous or hate her just because she's better than I am. I'm already 64 years old handicapped and can still play my drums set. Nothing can't stop me from playing even with my handicapped. Yoyoka girl you give me goosebumps when I hear you bring my favorite music to life again. When I played the bass guitar for the liquid static band we played the same rock and roll you are and you make me relive my youth. THANK YOU very much and never stop playing please. And rock on little drummer girl. America loves you
You make me cry with joy! I grew up with RUSH living here in Toronto and you play this song so beautifully. You have made it, actually long ago, as an elite drummer! Awesome!
Just listened again. How is this even possible? Yoyoka plays with absolute precision and great power while just having a great time. It's a wonderful performance. I'm so impressed.
99 percent of me is (once again) blown away by your talent and enthusiasm. 1 percent of me wants to quit playing after 40 years of having nowhere near your skill. ;-) You are pure joy. I heard Robert Plant say what he thought Bonzo would have said about you. I am sure Geddy and Alex will speak for Neal if they have not already.
Isn't it cool how her right hand and left hand seem to have independent minds of their own? And it's like she plays with her whole arm, not just from the wrist. Her style seems really unique.
Brought tears to my eyes at how genuinely enjoying this was for her. She has so much passion for her art it just bleeds out of her so much she can’t contain herself that she smiles all the way through it! 🤗
The master may be gone, but the force is strong in this one. Neil lives through her.

And the opening notes are Morse Code for YYZ
I'm no drummer, but that seemed absolutely stratospheric. Our Yoyoka is a phenom.
You know you’ve made it as a drummer when Yoyoka covers your song.
@jeffy acorn likewise
Be happy. Stay hip.
Most people don't even know of a song called YYZ.
Really Can't Argue with that!! :D \,,/
Wrong.... you've made it when you do Neil proud....
Ha, think it’s the other way around
I still can't believe Mr. Peart is gone. His death has been hard on alot of us longtime Rush fans. This is a great tribute to a great drummer. Thank you, Yoyoka, you brought tears to my eyes.
Well, that's it. Nothing she does surprises me any more. I've seen a lot of drummers cover this, but her footwork is especially flawless, and that's the hardest part.
When you see her play as an 8 year old girl, you love her for it.
But looking where she is at right now, it's really sheer RESPECT that I have for this girl.
Just pure respect man.....
The only thing that could possibly outweigh her talent, is the immense joy she exudes while playing What a treasure.
Sitting in my kitchen sipping coffee at 6 in the morning watching Yoyoka cover Rush...priceless
Many drummers cover this song well, but nothing close to this kid. I love the "added" Yoyoka ghost notes! She made this song all her own now. Made Neil wake up from the grave and slightly smile before he went back to eternal sleep. Just an incredible wonder! LOVED BY MANY.
One look and he knew, the future is in good hands.
And now he gets to rest.....
Love that one !
totally agree. Amazing kid drummer. Neil Peart would be damn proud. This music is far from easy too.
The Ghost notes aren't added they're part of the actual song
@James Smith she's still 10! Don't rush it LOL her birthday is October 12th 2009
Yoyoka , you just made Neil Peart smile in heaven . You have such energy and talent , absolutely remarkable ! You and that ride symbol with multiple time signatures is simply amazing beyond words . Thank you for making Neil smile and may he rest in peace . ❤
She played this song on 6 drums in comparison to Neil's 70+ drums and killed it with her ghost notes
Ghost notes?
@@travelinman482 it's a filler beat played on the snare drum. It's a slight tap to keep the rhythm. Easy to learn, hard to master. She's using it like she's been playing for 30 years. This kid's talent level is WAY beyond her years.
@@bazookajoe6133
Oh, I don’t know anything about percussion. I only play guitar(s).
Yep she's amazing
She is better and better.......... I want to thank her parents!! You are the best!!
Big salut from France 🙋♂️
Yes! 👍🏻
Yeah. What he said. ^ ^
I really love how she does those stick dances in between pauses just so she can keep the time and groove. More so, she performed YYZ using just a friggin five-piece drumset. Plus her dedication to Neil Peart in the video description is so touching. Her talent is as big as her heart. 🥁 = ♥️
Yes, love her hellos and goodbyes
I sound like a broken record , but her work on the hi-hat is just perfection......Every country in the world should open their borders and allow her to travel round and play , she would give everyone such a lift in these trying times.
whatever cosmic forces lined up which resulted in Yoyoka landing on my suggested videos 3 days ago,,i am thankful for.ive been binging on her drum vids for 3 days now and feel like a happier person.thank you Yoyoka you are a blessing to this world.
Yoyoka videos are something we never realize our life needed until we watch her. Then you realize you needed this all along.
The JOY!!! Biggest lesson she has for us all is not how to play the drums... it’s how to play ANYTHING.
Nicely put
Well said!
As a proud Canadian, I can speak for all of us and say you did a great cover of YYZ. Neil would be proud as we know Alex and Geddy are as well.
Neil said himself in Rush R&RHF induction speach, “The highest purpose of art is to inspire. What else can you do for anyone but inspire them?”
We greatly admire your love of Rush and Neil Peart. They truly are legends.
Joel Deveau
Got that right buds.🤜🤟🇨🇦🥁
@@jasonberezny9705 Just finished watching the Neil Peart Drum Channel tribute 2 hours ago.
Very great drummers playing tribute to Prof. Peart. Recommend watching it to any aspiring drummer or Neil/Rush fan.
Mark my words ~ that black Pearl bass drum of hers with the green head that has 'よよか' and a bunny drawing on it is going to be in the rock and roll hall of fame some day.
That black Pearl bass drum with the green head and a bunny drawing on it should be first printed on T-shirts and sold to all her fans.
A 10 yr old girl crushes a Rush song and 24 of you give this a thumbs down? Really? This is awesome. Keep these videos coming.
Absolutely
There will always miserable jealous bastards. Regardless of how good this kid is, its just one of those things you can always count on.
@@evanoneill619 I'm a miserable jealous bastard because at 10yrs old I couldn't do this. Yoyoka has a gift. I wish I had this gift. She's amazing. Ps She can barely reach the pedals. Thank You Yoyoka for the joy you bring.
YEAH!!! WHAT ARE THE THUMBS DOWN FOR!??!??!!
I mean seriously, I would love to see all 24 of YOU DRUMMING PRODIGIES who apparently think you can do better, DO JUST THAT!!! BUT, rather than showing us your awesome American drumming skills....LET'S SEE YOU TAKE ON A TRADITIONAL JAPANESE MUSICAL PIECE ON YOUR DRUMS, ON YOUR CHANNEL!!!!
There's something wrong with those thumbs down people. I play drums myself but, not as good as Yoyoka does it and I'm not jealous or hate her just because she's better than I am. I'm already 64 years old handicapped and can still play my drums set. Nothing can't stop me from playing even with my handicapped. Yoyoka I liked the way you play your drums and for that I Salute You with my Own Two Hands. Yoyoka knows How to Rock and Roll with her age. It's A long way to the top if You wanna Rock and Roll but, she's already up there on the top with all those Good Rock Bands yeah! Amazing talents for Little girl. Take care, be careful, be safe, and stay healthy. May God Bless All Of Us. Have A Blessed Great Day Everybody!!!!!
Wow. Her wrist action is amazing. This particular Rush song is at expert level for drummers. I've seen many adult drummers who can't do what this kid can do. Totally amazing!
そうきたか!
この若さで、オッサンどものツボを叩きまくるYoyokaちゃん!
末恐ろしいとは、この子の事!(今でも充分おそろしいですが)
That timing, technic, hard hitting, and that drum roll... I think this kid is a robot
Made in Japan! (=゚ω゚)ノ
"Neil" Would have loved this" "I Did , Wow"!! , her ride cymbal and bass pedal work"" even a little "Dance, between beats", "Fantastic.
Now she is tackling Rush, as she starts to perfect and practice Peart drum parts HEADS WILL ROLL FOLKS! She is going to a whole higher level now. Great job on this Yoyoka! Stuff like this will make you even better. Looking forward to The Who and Jimi Hendrix Experience.
I always knew she was good but comments like yours really seem to put it in some perspective. I take it she really is ‘that good’?
Yoyoka girl you give me goosebumps when I hear you bring my favorite music to life again. When I played the bass guitar for the liquid static band we played the same rock and roll you are and you make me relive my youth. THANK YOU very much and never stop playing please. And rock on little drummer girl. America loves you
Re JHE: Oh yeah! Say, Burning of the Midnight Lamp or Manic Depression?
I think she already started when she tackled Toto's Rosanna!
You make me cry with joy! I grew up with RUSH living here in Toronto and you play this song so beautifully. You have made it, actually long ago, as an elite drummer! Awesome!
She is one of the best drummer's iv ever seen. She has fun
Just listened again. How is this even possible? Yoyoka plays with absolute precision and great power while just having a great time. It's a wonderful performance. I'm so impressed.
There are no more superlatives left to describe the gift that is Yoyoka. She has risen above words
よよかちゃん!
すっげぇ🥁をすっげぇ楽しそうに叩いてますね!
見ているこちらも楽しくなってしまいます。thank you〜
あ、今日の靴下🧦可愛いね❤️
Excellent, need to get Neil's center baby cymbal
This kid is my hero coz she has FUN whilst nailing it 3,000%. Jesus!
What Yoyoka does is way more than just cover a good song..she gives them a second life..
Isn't it cool how her right hand and left hand seem to have independent minds of their own? And it's like she plays with her whole arm, not just from the wrist. Her style seems really unique.
she is unique, also both feet using the peddles at the same time,
@John Sadler Agree, her footwork is amazingly strong for her age.
Brought tears to my eyes at how genuinely enjoying this was for her. She has so much passion for her art it just bleeds out of her so much she can’t contain herself that she smiles all the way through it! 🤗
10yo and able to cover Neil Peart perfectly - dynamics and all?!? I’m stunned. Following... I can’t wait to see what she’ll be doing in a few years!
The world needs this girl so much right now. Respect and love!
