2023 & have just finished watching this film. I have not seen this film in years, & it still stands as an all time classic. ❤ it.

The scene with the Widowmaker had the right tune to get my heart pumping. I enjoyed that little second stand-off, getting his just deserts for crashing the Malibu.

I first saw this at school back 91ish in 7th grade last day of school. The bell rang and it wasn't over! My teacher stopped it at right before the last race scene I was so mad haha. I had to go rent it from Blockbuster when I got out because it was good and teacher left us hanging haha.

This was filmed in my hometown. St Cloud MN, the Mendota bridge they reference is over 80 miles away from where they claim it ts. Also the starting and finishing destinations of the race could easily been made doing following all traffic laws. I'm guessing it was better for people who don't know the actual town. Knowing just ruined the illusion.

Unless the motor was replaced with a Buick or Caddy engine, a 57 Chevy would not be a car of choice for a chase. Even then the bulky body though nice looking, hampered cornering. A 57 Ford, on the other hand had the 332 engine which could be turned into a racing mill easily. The Chevy wouldn't come into it's own until the 427 in 63, replacing the 396 and 409 . The 409 was a decent racing mill. Ford had experimented with the 406 but went with the 352 and 390 in 63. The Ford 428 in 64 used by Ford drivers gave Chevy a hard time that year.
