1:23 Monument to Father Skorupko, who, as chaplain of the Polish army, was killed in the Battle of Warsaw of 1920. If it were not for that victory, the Bolsheviks would have occupied all the Baltic countries and we all would have Bolshevik hardcore like in Ukraine in the 1930s.
Many years ago Praga Północ district had a reputation as one of the most dangerous places in Poland, especially the area around Brzeska Street and the so-called Bermuda Triangle bounded by Szwedzka, 11 Listopada and Wileńska Streets, but now it is much safer, although unfortunately the climate from 'raw' and authentic is getting more hipster-like, which is not so good. of course, this area has never been a no-go zone in the sense that some areas of Malmo are.
Than you for explanation. And I have to admit, that probably went little bit over the top with a title. Nowadays it is definitely safe, but still had a feeling that outsiders are not really welcomed!
Speaking of Warsaw in general, unfortunately, few foreigners visiting the city are aware of how rich the 'mythology' of Warsaw is, i.e. the various cultural references associated with the city, including in its post-war history. Unfortunately, these things are not easy to fathom without a good knowledge of the Polish language since e.g. somehow no one has bothered to translate the most outstanding Polish series into English and put them on Netflix for free.
@@theruudy there is a fairly objective history and there is its cultural representation. in this sense, the real history of Jesus has been mythologized by a huge number of cultural references. in the case of Warsaw, for example, its reconstruction and development has been the subject of a large number of films, TV series, novels, songs etc. which is interesting as such regardless of its real history and inspirations. In Warsaw, we have murals in honor of fictional characters of tv series

A warsaw born I can tell Praga is the best district! However, i have never had a drink at Bazar Bar, because no one is serving.
Thank you for a local’s insight! 😂🤩

What do you mean by “mythology”? That’s why its always great to know a local that can give an insiders perspective :)

People might be looking strange because they see guy walking with camera and filming himself 😅
For sure, but have to get used to it. The more you film the more confident you feel in public :)
Staying in this area in 3 weeks.
Definitely check out the market and maybe they will start to serve beer already :)
