    Thank you so much for this tip! I actually found I had to hold the wheel at 45 degrees while turning the key to get the procedure to start. I'm pretty sure it worked as I got two quick flashes of the EPS light on completion, and the steering feels better now (a little lighter and more responsive).

    Wow thank you so much for making this video! You saved me hundreds maybe thousands of dollars. I have a 2009 Honda civic dxg and it worked great, the only thing I had to do differently was turn the steering wheel left at 45 degrees before I turned the key to the on position. I hope this helps someone else. Thanks again, God bless

    What if the eps light only comes on when the key is in the ignition but not actually on? I just had new tires installed and a wheel balancing and alignment. The steering wheel turns fine and doesn't move on it's own to the left.

  • @MrRerod

    Great video. Same issue with my 07 fit. Steering wheel turns left with no driver input. I noticed that my steering wheel needs to be turned a few degrees right when driving straight with the under-hood 60A # 2 fuse pulled.. Would this screw up the relearn process when centering the wheel during relearn?

    • @combustiontherapy2222
      @combustiontherapy2222  2 роки тому +1

      It shouldn’t since the SAS (steering angle sensor) is inside the steering wheel itself. The fact your wheel is off some while driving is an alignment issue no doubt. Definitely worth getting checked out since this can cause excessive uneven tire wear often times quite quickly. It could be the result of meeting a few to many large potholes on the roadway or even worn suspension components and bushings which should definitely be checked for prior to having the vehicle aligned.

    • @MrRerod
      @MrRerod 2 роки тому +2

      @@combustiontherapy2222 Unfortunately my 07 fit could not relearn the torque sensor.. When I jumpered 4 to 9 and powered up, the torque sensor relearn light flashed three short flash's followed by a longer forth flash over and over.
      So I removed the 60A EPS fuse and all is good. No need for a gym membership either..
      I assume my torque sensor relearn lights will stay lit until I replace the fuse, which will never happen because new struts , rack and install cost more than the 1800 I paid for it.

    Hey first off thanks. I had absolutely no issues with my 2013 accord and was having my tires rotated and an alignment performed. I left the mechanic and noticed my steering felt stiff, just ignored it and chalked it up to tire wear. Then while stopping and parked it began the steering wheel began to turn hard to the right. Took to same mechanic and they're now quoting me $2k+ for a rack repair. Wouldn't they have attempted a torque sensor relearn right away? Or is that not common practice. Thanks a lot

    2008 Honda Fit. I attempted the torque sensor relearn procedure, with the front wheels on the ground. After jumping the OBD #4 and #9 pins, then turning the key to the "on position", the dash EPS light did not light continuously as described / shown in the video. Instead, the light flashed once, followed by two flashes (all three flashes were the same duration), then repeated this flash-sequence continuously. As a result, the balance of the relearn procedure could not be executed. Can anyone provide insight or otherwise advise me on this ? Thank you.

    Will this work on my civic x 2018? My steering feels a little heavy most of the time. When i had an alightment it felt very light after but only for a short time. When i changed the battery it became light again but maybe after 2 days it began to feel sticky again.
    Btw i replaced the steering rack feb this year and from what i remember it felt heavy the moment i took the car home.

    How did you end up fixing the issue? I have a civic 2008 that has the exact same issue, the pull to left is so hard that it takes so much force to bring it back in the middle. Also, as the vehicle speeds up, the steering wheel starts to feel lighter (left pull force reduces and steering can be controlled with one hand but still goes to left if let go). I'm not sure if I need to replace the rack and pinion or if this is an eps module issue.

    • @combustiontherapy2222
      @combustiontherapy2222  2 роки тому +2

      A temporary solution is to pull the EPS fuse which alleviates the safety concern of the vehicle leaving the road if your hands left the steering wheel for any reason. This however doesn’t actually fix the issue of course, it is worth attempting a SAS relearn however the EPS module generally doesn’t lose its calibration for no reason and is generally the result of damage to the rack itself wether self inflicted or not. Unfortunately a rack replacement is usually in order at which time the SAS relearn will be completed regardless. You’re likely to find a good rack in a wrecking yard if you have time and don’t mind turning a wrench or even try scouring for a vehicle being parted out. You might come across someone plucking parts themselves for sale. Cheers

      @@combustiontherapy2222 Thanks for the heads up. I will try removing the fuse to see what it does. My only concern is that if the EPS module itself is faulty then even replacing the rack will be useless. Hence, I'll probably need to make sure eps module is good. Btw, I sill couldn't find the exact location for the eps module, I think it is on the passenger side pillar but not sure. It is a dx-g model. Do you think if I find an eps replacement module that would be a good candidate for resolving this issue?
