The Battle for Caen was a fierce military engagement fought between the Allied Forces and the German Army during the Second World War. The objective was to capture the strategically important city of Caen in Normandy, France, which was heavily fortified, making it difficult for the Allies to advance. The battle began on June 6, 1944, and lasted over a month, marked by intense street fighting and heavy casualties on both sides. The Allies finally captured the city on July 19, 1944, despite suffering heavy losses. The victory allowed the Allies to break through the German defenses and advance towards Paris, but the city of Caen was left in ruins, with most of its buildings destroyed or severely damaged.

Caen was a miserable battle for the Allies but ended up a strategic success as more and more German resources were poured into preventing a breakout there by the British and Canadians. This helped the Americans to break out at Cherborg and eventually ended up with a far worse disaster for the Axis at Falaise Gap where huge chunks of their armies were annihilated. RIP to all who fought and died there on both sides.

D-Day was a strategic success. Caen saw the strategic bombing of Germany interrupted to provide close air support in a tactical solution. Any time you forfeit a strategic priority in favour of a tactical one can be considered a strategic loss.

My father was an Allied Combat Major in WW2, he was on D-Day, then Caen, then Market Garden and was later on, one of the first officers into Bergen Belsen camp.
As a child my father took my mother and I, on a trip around many of the places he had visited in the war. Since then I have returned with my own family to view these sites more than once.

When I was in grade school, my best friends and I came across an amazing Lego Star Wars Stopmotion channel (I hate myself for not remembering the name), and we developed so much love for Legos and the art itself. Watching this now brought me and those friends back to those days, when all we did was build Legos and use our imagination, not stressing about day-to-day existence.

This is incredible. I had originally thought you animated this completely on a computer (which still is technically Stop-Motion) or something, but when I was looking through the comments, I found out this is actually Stop-Motion. I probably didn't even have an Idea of what it was, but I should have. The Stop-Motion is so smooth.

This is amazing you have improved a lot! I love that it’s a little more fast pace when I feel like some of your older stop motions are…to smooth lol to the point where it kinda feels unrealistic but I think you have found the perfect pace it’s not so fast like brick dictator but it’s not to slow. And of course there we’re thousands of other ways it was amazing but this is a big one I saw

Amazing work. Caen was one of those battles that in the 80s a lot of historians tried to revise the reputation of, and said was badly fought and clumsy; but I am pleased that modern research has agreed with the original wartime statements of just how heavily defended it was, and that the Anglo-Canadians performed incredibly well under the circumstances put in front of them.

@@nonope7592 it was due to a panzer division keeping them on the beach allowing time for the germans to build up defense and i believe they even cut off the british from the canadians for a bit. This and the added fact it was d-day so supplies were already thin it was a recipe for a hard time

Idk if y’all know this, but it takes a lot of time, effort, and energy to make a good stop-motion. I’ve made a few myself, spend many hours on em. They end up being a little less than ok. This man is incredible and is very good at being consistent. I also love how we get to see this battle from the perspective of the soldiers, as well as the civilians
