Great memories, Jeff and Sarah. One of my friends worked for awhile at a gift shop in LA and got to meet Fred Astaire
He said he was surprised how short he was
He was buying candy to hand out to kids for Halloween.

I grew up right around the Chatsworth Reservoir from there. You mentioned the Canadian Geese. Prior to the reservoir being drained for work to be done on it and then never to be filled because of damage sustained during the Sylmar earthquake in 1971 we would hear the geese come flying in by the hundreds even sitting in our house watching tv. We would often hear the loud sound of rocket engines being tested at the Rocketdyn facility at the top of Woolsey Cyn which is just minutes from the cemetery as you drive around the reservoir. The explosive ending of the movie Telefon starring Charles Bronson and Lee Remick was filmed just yards from where Woolsey Cyn meets Valley Circle. Years later cancer studies were done at the rocket site because of the concern from all the rocket testing that took place there. The cemetery is on Lassen St. and if you head just a couple blocks up the street you will notice streets like Dale Ct and Trigger Pl named after Roy Rogers wife and horse because he lived right up the street from the cemetery. It's also worth noting that Rogers house ended up being owned by Gene Kilmer who's son is the famous actor Val Kilmer. Val went to Chatsworth High School a few miles away, as did Kevin Spacey and Mare Winningham who graduated from Chatsworth High the same year I did.

RARELY EVER DO PEOPLE VISIT GRAVES OF THE DECEASED. THE OLD SAYING, OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND. IF THE LORD DOESN'T COME IN MY LIFE TIME AND MY DEATH VISITS ME I'LL BE CREMATED. I share Sarah's love of animals. We get a lot of Canadian geese here in Indiana. From train robber to prosecuting attorney... I can't even get my head around that. 🤔 And then, back to being an outlaw who ran for Governor? This man was a looney toon! 😂🤣 I loved Ginger Rogers. They say she would practice her dancing until her feet bled! That's real devotion to your art!😁 It's so cool that you have an autographed headshot of Ginger!💕 It's always interesting to see that some celebrities have very modest graves while others have very elaborate ones. Monte Montana...I like how they incorporated the rope to spell out his name on his grave. Steven Boyd...great actor! His death scene in Ben Hur is rather intense! Fred Astaire...you always connect him with Ginger but as you pointed out, he also partnered with his sister Adele.🕺💃 Thank you for raising my awareness of people who I never heard of before.💕As always, thank you.

The first time I chuckled was when you speculated that the character "got herself pregnant", as if she'd done it all by herself. I owned Montie Montana's 1956 Chevy pickup for several years. Bought it from his widow who was then living in Palm Springs. The Chevy was their Agua Dulce ranch truck. She offered me his horse trailer too, but it was in terrible condition so I passed. An odd thing about the pickup was that it had a 1957 left front fender. Guess the original '56 fender had been damaged beyond repair. All ranch markings on the doors had been removed before the sale.

The cemetery is located on the Pacific Flyway. Hence Geese and ducks. The nearby Chatsworth Lake was massive stop over until the locations filming of Pee Wees Big Top movie during migration. That really messed it all up.
It started to recover but then the powers that be opened the area up to visitors and that ended that. Still a few straggler geese and ducks this time of year.
Trigger St and Dale Ct are located a half block away where Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans lived until their move to Apple Valley. We walk our German Shepard above there and passer-byes always bring up Roys dog Bullet.

Idk if you've done this already but can you do an episode on Lost City and Telegraph City both outside of Copperopolis, CA. Lost City is on prvt property but I know Chillseekers in Modesto somehow got access years ago to paranormally investigate it. Both locations are just ruins of buildings, Telegraph City is foundational ruins (and a creepy old windmill). There is a tiny cemetery on the hill but there is barbed wire. There's also a hidden cemetery near the river in Farmington on a farm, I investigated the cemetery but the house was more haunted but that was several years ago. If it's the same family there they likely would let you check it out. Have you done an episode on Chinese Camp? Those old buildings are easy access, I just hope the leaning church is still standing. Word of caution: the owner of the little store is not friendly and there is a squatter in the area who has a machete. You'd probably be ok by day.

GOD!!! His life sounds ds like a celebrity from the 1990's or the 2010's.....he has no adoration for the virgin of guadalupe. Which means that he was just an oddball white man who came to the west and didnothing for nobody.....except himself......ginger Rodgers like, adopted her primary school teacher....and took her into her home when she needed a place......love.

Hey Jeff. I see you guys are back to Southern CA and in my old stomping grounds. I’m in my early 70s now but when I was in grade school, Monte Montana came to all of the local schools with his traveling show. He’d rope animals, teachers and have gunfight reproductions. Being a retired firefighter here in Los Angeles, I used to drive our apparatus past his old ranch where Cal State University now stands. At the N. End of Winnetka Ave., was the old DesiLou home of Lucille and Desi Arnaz. Many of my fellow firefighters are buried here, as well as my wife’s parents. i really loved working at our Chatsworth Fire Station. Many times we would have calls, or see local TV and Movie personalities at the stores or while out making fire prevention inspections or writing brush notices. Several interactions with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Thank you for another informative, entertaining and respectful video. I truly admire what you give to the public and your audiences. Stay well. Gary

I grew up in Chatsworth, only about a mile or so away from this cemetery. The church on the grounds was moved there from its location on Topanga Canyon Blvd in Chatsworth, and was the home church of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, who lived in Chatsworth just up the hill from Oakwood Cemetery before they moved to Apple Valley. My family attended that churc until I was four. One of Rogers’ adopted daughters was my reading tutor when I was in first grade. My father, a veterinarian, had the occasion to be called up to the Rogers’ ranch and I got to go with him, a memory I cherish.

    Hi Jeff, and Sarah.
Just wanted you to know how much I like watching the videos you publish, I really liked the one on Stockton rural cemetery. I was born and raised in Stockton, Ca.
Jeff I was wondering if you and Sarah could go and visit Linden cemetery, In Linden Calif. No one has put a video out there yet, and there are a lot of old graves out there, I would go often Because my grandfather is buried there, John Henry Tulleners. I would be so much obliged if you could. Keep up the good work, and thanks.😊

Really good video & history Jeff lol.
I always liked Gloria Grahams movies.
Have you ever noticed she had a funny quirk about her upper lip?
When she talked her upper lip never moves.
Her upper lip area seems like it's frozen stiff whenever she talked.
I know it sounds weird but it always made me feel kind of weird watching her talk for some reason lol.
Watch her talk in her movies & let me know if you notice it too?
The 1st one about the lawyer turned train robber is funny as hell lol.
You'd think after a couple of failed train robberies he'd give up his failed life of crime attempts lol but he just keeps doing it & never accomplishes his crimes lol.
    Wow clueless much? Lol!

You probably already know that Roy and Dale Rodgers lived on a ranch in chatsworth and helped to found a Church on Topanga Canyon. I think it’s still there.
Speaking of old church’s, Wyatt Earp regularly attended an old stone church (stilll there) in Lake Elsinore. Also, Aimee Simple Mcferson had a hideaway on the south side of the lake (still there) that played a part in her scandalous disappearance. Both locations are well known around town.

I sent the last comment too soon due to my clumsy fingers. Mr. Hug is going to restore it and make it into a small museum. I just drove by it the other while working and the address if I remember correctly is 2365 S. 10th if you’re interested in looking it up. It’s just a small little house built in the 1880’s.

My daughter used to live in Chatsworth some 18 years ago, we visited the place quite often from the UK looking down on Hoot Gibson's and Errol Flynn's old homes. That area is steeped in the old western movies locations, the Lone Ranger True Rock and the Iverson Ranch. The resting place of the stars too was a place I loved to wonder around recalling the stars and their movies, my old hero rests there, Monty Montana.

Monty Montana came to my grammar school when I was a kid about 1950 or so. He put on a great show for us. I am amazed that so many big stars have such common graves. In Chatsworth? Nothing about Chatsworth, but you would think they would be buried in Hollywood or close by. A great book would be to locate the graves of big stars and to find out why they are buried where they are.

Great video, as usual. I've been to this cemetery many times, my ex in-laws are interred here, just up the hill a bit from the little church. Ben Hur is one of my All time favorite movies and when I learned that Stephen Boyd was also there, I made it a point to go over and say hello from time to time, the same with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. One thing you do have to be careful about in that cemetery are rattlesnakes.....they come out at night and curl up on the grave markers that have been in the sun all day to
stay warm.....they used to have signs up, but it's been a while since I was last there.
