I might be so wrong this time but the Top teams this world cup are:
1- France. If they don't win, definitely because of the coach.
2- Brazil. Win or lose depends on their defense. If they play Militao and Thiago at cbs, they are more solid.
3- Portugal. Similar to France, exceptional players, if they don't win then it's on the coach
4- England. Too many options with high ego for Southgate. Everyone is on the same level but no one stands out. I think they'll choke but still very strong.
5- Spain. Pedri has good rythm on the ball, calm and matured before age. Other than that, nothing much special about this team tbh
5- Germany. Lack of talents. Kimmich can play long ball and chip the ball but no striker to finish and hold the ball. Sane is really strong at taking one touch, dribble a bit then finish but he will struggle against experienced defender.
Other dark horses: Croatia, not sure if Nigeria can go through but they have good attackers

France is definitely the favourite, but it's so hard for a team to repeat.
Portugal have huge number of talents than france. Portugal have skillful players like Brazil and it is wasted by the coach.
Why always when it is about Ronaldo losing the coach is always blamed everywhere to protect him if he loses?

The team was present in 18 out of the 22 tournaments, reaching six finals, a third place and a fourth place. So really the only national team in the world that can talk smack to Italy is Brazil and they could've easily lost in 1994 to Italy during the penalty kicks in the world cup final. Italy also has the international record for longest unbeaten streak 37-0. Consistency in the top ten global FIFA rankings. It's already 2022, Euro's 2024 are not that far away because of the pandemic delay then two short years after that it's the 2026 World Cup with expanded 48 team list. This Italy team could beat most of the teams that have qualified for the 22' World Cup already.
That’s a sweet essay but Italy will not have played in a World Cup in over a decade (assuming they even make it to the WC 2026)

Don't feel bad for Italy. Italy needs to wake up and start producing the talent they use to produce. The last time Italy did anything significant at a World Cup they won it with a stunning squad. Most of the current players wouldn't stand a chance to be on that 2006 bench let alone start. As a fan it is embarrassing missing out again though
