Thank you for your reaction and your insightful commentary. I had not seen the video of Oliver reading scripture, and I am glad you included it in your reaction. The fact that this song got over 19M views since its debut a little over a week ago tells you that the message transcends age, color/race/ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, and even nationality, and resonates with ordinary working folk the world over. This should be mandatory listening for everyone in government, whether elected, appointed, or just employed. Even though "the rich men north of Richmond" is a reference to politicians and “power players” in Washington DC., and probably to the financiers on Wall Street, it equally applies to politicians and the “elites” anywhere. The fact that the usual suspects are already calling this the new “right-wing anthem,” means the song has struck a nerve and is right on target. "I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just minors on an island (Eppstein Island) somewhere" is certainly an indictment of the elites who seem to get away with their crimes too often. Not wanting your taxes, which fund food stamps to be used by recipients to buy junk food (fudge rounds) does not imply that one is against food assistance programs for the truly needy; it just means that benefits should be restricted to essential, and relatively nutritious food items. I hope this anthem will wake up more people and get us ordinary folks to unite and take a stand before it's too late. May God bless you and yours.

Latest statement by Oliver(Chris) Anthony---It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on. Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me. People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place. So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction: My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine. In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again. From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated. In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away. That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land. When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you. Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.

Thank you for this review. I worry that some Christians are too hard on their brothers and sisters. Not everyone comes from a perfect background. Some people have more battles to fight than others. Gods people come in different packages and our mission should be to be a help to our brothers. Not to accuse so much. We should pray for each other if we have concerns and not be so quick to cast people aside. It's really heartbreaking to see Christians be viscous to other believers. Especially when someone is really trying to do right but still has a lot of rough spots.
Especially when they're babes in the Lord... sadly, leave it to some to come out bashing... Ever wonder why a lot of folks want nothing to do with our Savior? Look at how SOME of His representatives treat each other 😭 They want Nothing to do with Him because of them.

As a fellow Christian I think I’ll take this one. To all offended by the use of the word “bullshit” in this song: I’ll say a prayer for you. I’ll also remind you that we have free speech in this country. That said I’m certain many persons have said things that others found offensive WHILE SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER. Maybe these Christians even know someone like that. All that said, GET OUT OF HIS WAY. He’s an adult in the actual sense of the word. You can go act like a child somewhere else. He, and others like him. Have a country to save.
I mean I agree but those who disagree would probably cite that “free speech in this country”is not citing scripture. at which point they will then cite ephesians.

Or apply for a mortgage loan 😂
Or read the list of ingredients on almost anything in a box or can of food in your local grocery store.
Perfect review. The only thing I would point out is in Oliver’s video introducing himself to the people the night before the song dropped he explains the meanings of this song and I encourage everyone to go and listen to it before judging him. He has a beautiful story of redemption.
What a great forgiving God we serve ❤

There's now two channels on youtube. The one with his introduction video the night before his RMNoR hit is the link above. The other channel I found with the same name just has his songs. Not sure that is his or not.
I'm a church going Christian and I don't cuss ,but I have no problem with this song.He sings it the way I would love too.Sometimes you just need a cuss word to get the message out.😊❤😂
Jesus cusses
@@jms0313 You missed the question mark at the end!!!
you have cussed and it isn't a sin, don't try being a saint, people who cuss can be trusted darling. All Gods kids are human .
i guess you think he should use the word ''BULL DUNG' then he would not be cussing and he would be biblically correct. Bull shit or bull dung it still smells like crap.

He gives voice to the despair and frustration that many of us are experiencing. I'm glad that he has found God and that God has touched so many of us through him.

his song really touched me as a farmer. and farmers are the ONLY business in the states who are NOT allowed to set prices for what they produce
I work in the medical record distribution field, and the state governments regulate the prices for which we can sell our services. For some of our services, we're required by law to provide them for free.
I'm self employed and can set my own prices and when business is slow or equipment fails, I (unlike farmers) don't receive subsidies to take up the slack.
It's a double edged sword
God bless you farmers! With out God and the hard working farmer where would we be? God always first then the farmers. Govt. needs to be kinder to the real farmers. They pay these greedy farmers that insurance farm. They want to fail for the money. The real farmer is putting food on our tables and arn't being taken care of. God bless the working man! Amen
Thank you for what you do!
@@bjyoungblood I have family members in the medical field as well. Doctors can't set their own prices - the insurance companies and government do that. Then people wonder why healthcare is so expensive.
I can sympathize with the farmers!
It was a lament of workers across the globe, I’ve seen so many people commenting and resonating to this song 🎶 from everywhere! It’s #1 on iTunes Australia 🇦🇺
I would hug this gentleman and shake his arm off. He speaks words that a lot of Vets feel ( this is now, not the country so many friends and loved ones forfeit their lives for)
Please get a Man Rampant episode with him
I’ve loved finding Pastor Wilson fairly recently. Been watching these blogs regularly.
I believe Oliver not mincing words is why so many can relate. This is a serious song and when our hearts are serious about matters, we do not use childish words to describe them.
or autotune
Here's a formal introduction:
My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford.
Powerful.
OH NO Doug said a naughty word!!
😮😮😮
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
Big music is a gasp at the fact he didn’t accept their $8 million dollar offer.
Well yeah. This is astroturfing. He’s got all the funding he needs already.

Im glad you called this a protest song as it put me in mind of the 60s songs by Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, and Pete Seger. Folk music.
I can't explain it, but everytime i hear this song my heart swells..

This song is a lightening strike to the heart.
I LOVE him reading Psalm 37. May God bless him and bring Jesus glory.
I love the reading in Psalms now that he knows "they" are listening along with all of us. Its a clear message, God is watching and your judgement is coming. ❤
I've heard it a lot of times, but it's a magic version that can't be missed - Anyone who listens please give me a thumbs up
So glad you covered this! The rolling stone was all about protest songs until the protesters of the 60’s became the rich men north of Richmond
Exactly, the current cosmopolitan bicoastal elite are largely those folks who protested for free speech or are the children of those same people. The democrat party constituency is the very wealthy and the subsidized poor. They hate the working class and it is so apparent, but the backlash is just beginning.
And full of the devil, led by his devices..
Look at how SOME of His representatives treat each other 😭
They want Nothing to do with Him because of them.
@@angeltriumphant1664 Yeah it's really sad. In my opinion it doesn't reflect the heart of god. I pray that the heart of all believers see each other the way God see us.

Stop growing weed. It’s poisoning the minds of our nation. God will not bless that. I know it sounds harsh, but deep down you know it’s true. Take up and carry your cross daily. Ask for forgiveness and give forgiveness. Pray unceasingly. This life is not yours. It belongs to Christ.
This is literally the best reaction I’ve seen yet. Well done.

He made a point of grief, singing from his heart. I love this Psalm.
Psalm 37 (and Oliver) completely nailed it.
We are to the place that strong words are needed for strong opposition of the wicked against us.
I believe in imprecatory prayers like never before.
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 😊 I love to witness a star being born. I hope God blesses this man . I'm sure he'll be blessed
I have watched dozens of reactions to this song. You're the only one that has said it's not that they are rich, but it's their intent. I completely agree with that. It is wild how many people get different opinions of this song.
I firmly believe that those that don't like this song, can not listen. It's simple.
Or they have an agenda
God has a plan for us all. He influences us at the right time, Oliver Anthony is in his plan and is using him when the time is appropriate for us all, We just need to listen.
Well said.

What do you expect ..I can't even listen to the new music anymore
..all they talk about is booty clapping butt smacking hoes.. swinging on poles and robbing people..then you get a song that makes sense..and the media gets mad and the radio won't play it...something weird is going on
That says it all.. right there
You hit the nail in the head. That’s the message. God bless and God bless whoever reads this message
Finally! A song that puts into words the feelings that normal, good, hard working Americans can relate to.
Pastor Jon here. I wa😮raised in the Appalachian Mountains west of Lexington Virginia. So many small towns in Appalachia are being swallowed up by meth and liquor. Factories dried up an blew away. There are more people in the local beer joint on Saturday night than in church on Sunday. This speaks to the growing problem.
His singing voice is off-the-charts powerful. He could do a rendition of "99 bottles of Beer on the Wall" and drive people to tears.
God Bless Chris on his journey forward !! This song connects to so many individuals from all walks of life. We need to use him and his music to wake up some folks and get them off the bench and back into the fight for the future of this great nation.....
Actually, Oliver Anthony Music is in honor of his Grandfather. Oliver Anthony isn't his name, but he said he may just continue to go by the last name Anthony. He explained ALL about who he is in the latest video he dropped and what has been happening. He was offered an 8 million dollar contract with many record labels and turned them ALL down. Many people are praying for him right now and I believe he is being led by the Holy Spirit to make good decisions. Nashville has become very, very corrupt.
Thank you for this… love the way you explained it!! Perfect! I’m not religious but when I heard him read that psalm I felt it resonate with me. He speaks truth!
God bless this man reading a Psalm to the crowd.

Thank you Oliver for speaking for us people and getting world wide attention and so glad this truthful song was not censored for once!!!! Keep telling the truth Oliver in your songs
His reading of the Psalm was passionate...the wicked and high minded WILL fall and God will judge!👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏
The best translation for "dung" used by Paul in his letter to the Philippians is "shit."
We spend the majority of our lives working for the rich to feed and house our families.
Every hard working Family knows this on the Daily. Many times each one of us thinks these things in his song.
He put it all in one song. Of course the bulk of the country loved it. It's addressed to the world of hard workers!
Mr. Wilson's analogy of the song is very spot on too. God Bless one and all.
We all understood that when you said “Oh, good grief” and the end of that reaction what you really meant was, “That’s bullshit.” 😂 Great review sir.

I was struck by the roar of the crowd after he read the Psalm verse, can't recall hearing such celebration on Sundays in church
I’m a Christian a follower of the word of God the BIBLE. And Mr Oliver wrote and sang a perfect song of this era. It’s iconic and the bullshit was righteously placed. So Boohoo for u Christian, all of u standing behind the mere reflections of ur selves. For truth is from the heart which is what the world is looking forAUTHENTICITY . The message of the song transcends the vernacular of the day.
God will use sinners to spread his gospel and also the devil will use good people to spew his lies..

Well said, Rev. Wilson. Loved the fact that you included his talk about Psalm 27. I pray that this song ignites a fire within the populace of the USA to understand what is happening in today's world. May this be the new "Uncle Tom's Cabin".
He represents every person of every state that feels the same exact way he does and we are fed up with it
This is my favorite Doug reaction video of all time. Thank you, Doug.
Thank you Doug, for showing the way out of our finely fashioned, pristine Christian veneer to be real for a moment and to hear the genuine cry for help from one downtrodden by those whose god is their own belly. (Phil. 3:19)
God bless Oliver! The reading of Ps 37 came from his heart. That says it all to me.
