    Absolutely awesome vid Luke - that was indeed an insane surface session. Those barra hit like depth charges going off - love it!

      Thanks mate! After the first few hits I was on edge big time! Worried I was gonna have a heart attack from the anticipation... watching the retrieve and waiting for the next hit! Feel free to share!

    Its always that pause after a long roll that gets the barra and bass. Was upstream of burtons bridge where you caught a popper bass. Casted the same spot 10 minutes and got a small one to bite, no hookup and it didnt come back.

      Sure can get the bite at times! Yeah very hit and miss at Burton’s... you’ll either have a really good day or a really bad one!

    Do you do most of your fishing in the bundy area mate? Looking to get on a few or at least catch my first when I’m up there around Easter.

      Yeah Bundy based but I’ll often travel up to 3 hours north or south... Barra for me have been the hardest fish to target... I’ve fished this spot plenty of times before and caught 0... really is a matter of being in the right location at the right time

    What rod and reel setup do you use mostly for fishing off your kayak?What brand and where did you get your fishing net from?

    • @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys
      @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys  6 років тому

      Mostly I run shimano raider rods specifically the 6’ 4-7kg barra 601... reels I have been using the shimano stradic range but I can no longer justify the expense... recently I’ve started using pisifun reels from China... they are cheap and last just as long as the expensive reels... the nets I use are Bassaction brand available from www.bassaction.net the one I use is the bream basket and it retails for $50 last time I checked

      Okay cheers! I'll have to check them out.
      I recently just bought a dragon kayak.. literally just yesterday so I'm just getting my head round it but I was wondering about the scupper holes on the bottom.. do I leave the black rubber plugs on and take out the top ones for water to drain out or do I need to take out all plugs for the water drainage to work properly. Thanks heaps if you can help

    • @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys
      @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys  6 років тому

      It depends on your weight and the conditions... conditions wise if the water is calm and it’s not raining you shouldn’t need to have the plugs out at all because water shouldn’t get on the deck... if it’s raining or your copping waves on the deck then yeah pull out the plugs to allow the water to drain... your weight (and the weight of your gear) plays a part also... if your a light weight you have the option of leaving the plugs out all the time but if your pushing the weight limits of the yak leaving them out will cause water to come up through the scuppers as well as drain back out... long story short your not going to sink it by having them out so try them out see how they work for you and see what you like best...

      I may not! For me it’s more about exploring and there’s way too many new and better spots to keep going back to the same location...
