There is no need for this "tradition" to continue. It was brought in as a real protection for the Monarch against potential attack when Whitehall was a Royal Palace under Henry VIII.
Did you know that? They are no longer a protection for the Monarch. They are purely a draw for the tourists and it's time it was stopped.

The Peter you are referring to is no longer in the Army or Horse Guards. He is alive, but has moved on.
His name is Peter Ellis & he will be greatly missed.
I don't like that this channel creator is more interested in audio taping what the troopers and police are "talking about" rather than the crowds and interaction. I wonder if this is the guy that got banned because he was caught putting a microphone on the gate to catch the police officers conversations........
