This was a very well done guard change. But what do I know? The captain (beg pardon if i assigned her the wrong rank) was besutiful and what a voice! The pomp and ceremony was just right!
I had to go back and re-watch when the second ginger beard Guard appeared. Twinning!!!! I have to say the female Captain is so much easier to hear, the men's voices are so deep it's hard to make out what they say sometimes when their voices are in their boots.

I mean absolutely **no** disrespect to anyone when I say, 'Times really have changed'. As a young enlisted man in the US Army in the 80s, I did a month-long exchange tour with the Queen's Own Hussars [or 'Hussy's', as they called themselves]. Most of the NCOs and a fair number of the officers were... 'traditionalist'... in their outlook. They maintained that the Household Division was the last remnant of 'the Empire' and strongly felt that it should remain so. What that meant was they'd rather eat their own young than see a black man or [God forbid] a woman in the Guards. But here's the thing... none of these guys were racist in their personal conduct. They'd happily go for pint with black man he served with, Christmas presents were exchanged between families with sincerity and respect, and I never heard one racial expletive the entire time I was there. Which, btw, was a hell of a lot more than I could say about my own barracks. It is said that tradition dies hard in the British Army, and what little actual experience I have with it bears that out. To be in the Guards, one had be 5'9" or better, height/weight appropriate, lily white, and have the proper look... upright carriage, no belly fat, all your teeth, no disfiguring scars, etc. The officers had to have a certain style, very Downton Abbey-ish, or at least look the part. And in all cases being able to grow a proper mustache was worth bonus points. And as I say, times have changed. This is to the betterment of all concerned, but some of those Aden/Singapore/Cyprus veterans wouldn't recognize it. Just like some of the Vietnam era NCOs I served under would recognize women in an infantry company in the US Army today. My sincere respects to my British 'cousins'. Stay safe, you lot.
Great moment. She's wonderful in every aspect: authority, sympathy and beauty. By the way, I don't want to sound too old-fashioned but why so many beards lately? Men in general fail to realize that women are as brave or even braver than they are and often great leaders as well. While women don’t have the physical strength of men, they amply compensate for this by stamina, endurance, intelligence and perseverance.
Can someone help me here , I always thought that army personnel could not have beards ! Naval yes but not army . I personally don’t think it looks good ,and was surprised to see Harry wear his beard for his wedding despite being in uniform. I believe he got permission from the late Queen to keep it .
The policy was changed this year (reported on March 29th 2024 in The Times and by the BBC). Neat beards of specified length and trim are now permitted.

@wendyschutze2818 . Horses chew mouth and play with the bit rather like people chewing gum or a baby sucking a dummy , some bits have rollers which the horses play with it keeps their mouth moist with saliva . They nod or toss their heads sometimes because of flies , or impatience , loud noises , or simply because they can !
