Deep Purple's 'Made In Japan' album, one of the greatest live albums ever. The improvisation is simply genius and not to mention Ian's voice was pure magic.
Imo, Born again had Sabbaths best riff, "Zero the hero" now, he said they still write together sometimes. what are the chances Tony and Ian team up and get a couple others in there and form up a band called "Born Again" much like was done with Dio? You better believe id love to see that concert. A new album with his voice, Tonies riffs, how could it not be epic? and maybe a bones section on there with some epic live or demo versions of some songs. Just saying, i think it would be amazing.
Its ok Ian, Ozzy can't remember the words to Iron Man to this very day. Hence all the teleprompters all around the stage whenever Ozzy performs live. Damn shame they weren't around in the mid-eighties during his (Ian's) brief tenure for the Born Again album and tour.
to be fair, MOST big singers use prompters, and have for over a decade. I'm not famous and even I use cheat sheets in some of my bands, b/c I'm stoned and drunk and having fun onstage! FUNNY STORY: in my first band, my lead singer was such an idiot who couldn't remember his OWN songs that I HAD TO WRITE OUT THE LYRICS ON SHEETS OF PAPER and I taped them to the floor. HA: my singer grabbed the sheets and put his foot up on a stage monitor like most singers.... but he had taped the lyrics... TO HIS LEG so he could see them easier!!(Above his knee!) HA!
What a lucky guy to interview Ian Gillan 🙂🙂 I wish I was in his place... Ian Gillan is such a nice down-to-earth gentleman and totally the kind of person I'd take to the nearest pub so we can have drinks while he's telling me stories about his life, his work, etc...

Overrated bland garbage.
@@Mogamishu Why are you here then?
Kudos for your best interview to date and thanks to Ian for sitting through this, he didn't look comfortable.
He seems very together and intelligent. Cool
A fascinating insight into the great IG's thoughts and reminiscences. Very enjoyable.
Born Again is my favourite Sabbath album. Evil screaming by Gillan.
joey Leverton lol Gillan was crap and I'm a huge purple fan
Kevin, people might consider your opinion if you could spell his name correctly...GILLAN.
Great album.. that album is also Messiah Marcolin of Candlemass's favorite Black Sabbath album
It sounds too close to Paradise City, which I hate. I know it came out before the GNR hit , but I heard the latter before I heard the Sabbath tune.
@@kramalerav so whose fault is that...?
Great job! Ian is quite the guy..thx to the two of you!
Ian Gillan is amazing!
And a great lyricist
Its ok Ian, Ozzy can't remember the words to Iron Man to this very day. Hence all the teleprompters all around the stage whenever Ozzy performs live. Damn shame they weren't around in the mid-eighties during his (Ian's) brief tenure for the Born Again album and tour.
He explains it away, but he's been drunk for most of 4 decades. He was just too drunk to remember the words. Still love him though.
to be fair, MOST big singers use prompters, and have for over a decade.
I'm not famous and even I use cheat sheets in some of my bands, b/c I'm stoned and drunk and having fun onstage!
FUNNY STORY:
in my first band, my lead singer was such an idiot who couldn't remember his OWN songs that I HAD TO WRITE OUT THE LYRICS ON SHEETS OF PAPER and I taped them to the floor. HA: my singer grabbed the sheets and put his foot up on a stage monitor like most singers.... but he had taped the lyrics... TO HIS LEG so he could see them easier!!(Above his knee!) HA!
One of the first bands I got into as a youth....Loved their sound from top to bottom
Ian Gillan, the best and all time favourite Deep Purple singer, a legend.
Really loving this channel! Great to see you guys are getting more rock legends on the channel! Keep it guys
I LOVE Ian 😍 He's my favorite singer.
spine tingling voice can leave you spellbound . a ghost like tenor remarkable................
thanx
"Disturbing the Priest" was my favorite performance of Ian's. Black Sabbath.
Not only the first "rock song",but the very first "song" I remember was Smoke On The Water, back in '1974-75'.
I wasn't quite 6yrs old yet...I've been a huge fan ever since.
They were ALL masters of their craft.
Absolutely love this band!
THE greatest Rock vocalist of all time......PERIOD!!!
hahahahah NO.
Now I know where he got his ausume voice, he had opera singers in his family.
Geez the part where he described the smoke on the water pr statement was so interesting!
What a kind man, real polite ! Great singer, one of the greatest for sure!
Great piece of an interview, thanks to both!
Oh my god this was one of the best WFF episodes I've watched...and I'm pretty sure I watched them all at this point...some multiple times.
Such a down to earth guy, for a legend.
Very cool.
Great interview!
A simple straight forward idea of Ritchie playing Guitar with his old mates if just for a closing bit of a one off show would be a wonderful and healing thing that would bring about a beautiful message.
Nobody who played with Ritchie for more than a day likes him
The best vocalist in the 70s! No one could touch him
Now you set the bar waaaaaay higher than it was, now expecting guests like Dave Mustaine, James Hetfield
They've already done one with Dave.
Gethsemane! One of the best rock vocal performances I’ve ever heard. An amazing singer. Wonderful to hear from him.
IAN GILLAN, is been one OF THE most powerful VOICES OF ROCK AND ROLL ,AND back then he came out whit that inusual style ,AND conquert THE protometal beginig, Long live to IAN GILLAN
Can't wait to see them live
,,,, Ian - You are great !!!
Great story teller!
It’s always so much more interesting to hear the real background stories from the horses mouth. Smart man.. Thanks, Ian! From a fan from the beginning.. 👍
