Great video. Not being a sailor myself, how do you know when the anchor is set?
I’ve never seen such a happy bumbling sailer.
A nice lot of content and filming , I can almost feel the motion of the boat
Never liked CQRs, treat yourself to something more up to date maybe when funds allow (Lewmar Epsilon good value) but looks like you've a good boat there, well set up for solo, sails look good, self-tailing winches, steers in reverse unlike long keel, etc. You're doing great & I'm enjoying following. All the best...
Ahm it looked more like a Bruce to me ?? A Sarca Excel or even dare I say a Rocna would be a much better option. Both are relatively affordable for a modern generation anchor, and yes alas I have an old CQR on my boat. 😂
Terry, you are starting to look like you know what you are doing 😊
😅💪
Weather helm is a combo of the below.
Turning up = Genoa is too slack/Main is too tight
Bearing away = Genoa is too tight/Main is too slack
Have you altered your settings ? UA-cam is putting 1 min adverts in your videos ?
Great episode as usual!
Just for your info, when you tack & the boat just doesn’t seem to get in the groove, assuming headsail sheet cars are in same position, it’s generally a rigging tension issue.
I did notice that when you were motoring into the bumpier stuff your fwd lowers seemed to be moving about quite a bit - other than adjustable backstays for flattening the main/tensioning the forestay, the job of the standing rigging is to hold the mast in column regardless of the load from the sails. Have a chat with a rigger (a proper one, not just someone who knows how to use a tension gauge!!) or have a read through the multitude of online resources - you’ll get there, I promise, and, when the penny drops you’ll kick yourself!!!😊
Anyway, looking forward to next weeks episode, keep on doing what you’re doing!
It. Sounds like a steam engine 😂😂
Okay, this is the second time I'm going to suggest this. But on the ramped up video when you're doing stuff at fast speed, you have to mix in some free music that is similar to Benny Hill music!!!! It would be A. Hilarious and B. the music is absolutely vitally needed. The sections would instantly become 10x more watchable.
“Hello Mr Seal’s head, and probably rest of seal” 😂
I love your humor
Another great episode. They are getting better all the time. I got so enthralled at one point I dropped my biscuit in my coffee 😂😂😂. Enjoy.
😂😂😂 I owe you a biscuit!
A full tank of fuel for £40 --- nice one... my Volkswagen Passat now costs £95 for a tank and does about 600 miles ... i hope you get more than 600 before you have to re-fuel
It looks like you have managed to find the perfect plan together both for the youtube and for you to get properly acquainted with you boat. Keep working on both and next year you'll should have the ability to start thinking about making a few crossings and planning a circumnavigation. Much better than when you were struggling with a boat that wasn't going to float. I'm going to be fully jealous soon.
Great boating young fella, you are doing it !
By the end of this circumnavi-cision you'll be quite an accomplished boater man !
Late to the party - have been doing some pleasant ditch crawling 😂 loving the speeded up bit from the bow! Brilliant episode.. now for the next one 😁
Wearing sunglasses can help reduce the risk of developing cataracts. Cataracts, a condition where the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, can be caused or exacerbated by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
For maximum protection, it's important to choose sunglasses that:
1. Block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
2. Fit close to your face or have large lenses to protect the eyes from all angles.
3. Are worn consistently when outdoors during daylight hours, even on cloudy days, as UV radiation can penetrate cloud cover.
Hi, nice video, as always, very entertaining. :-) Remind me, what kind of boat do you have there? I started sailing just a few years ago and have grown a lot since, now with my second boat, too. :-) I am currently doing my YM Coastal with Ardent (Theory) and Westcoast sailing in Portugal for the practical training and exam. Happy to see you growing as a sailor too! Recently also anchored the first time solo, it just needs some additional thinking and then it works fine. ;-)
I've been watching sailing videos for a few years, dreaming from land locked Derby. You've gone and done it and you don't give a fuck. Love it. Don't go and kill yourself, which I imagine is a lot less likely in your new boat, than the first one. Good luck fella and well done. I'm Jealous.
Not being knob when I say, Well done for wearing your life jacket. So may sailing channels these days are not wearing it!
What good is a life jacket? If he falls in he will watch his boat sail off into the blue yonder and he can contribute to the fish food...far better to harness on imo. If he's on autopilot that is but he will never pull himself up back into the boat even if it luffs up and he swims to it
Because his phone will be in his pocket and he can call the coastguard.. iPhone ls are waterproof.. knob
It's thrilling in a calm and enjoyable way. Good luck.
Its going well? LOL LOL You have an ankering "problem".....That is NOT SAFE.
Great sailing looked a bit sporty at times too. well done you.
It's really encouraging to see you getting out there and doing this. I've recently started sailing, and looking to get my own boat eventually. Planning to do my competent crew shortly. Watching your channel is inspiring!
A fully batterned main sail. Like your work sir!
Loved it, can't wait for the next episode!
If i `d known Gregg`s do boat deliveries, i`d have bought a yacht 🙂
PS, like the blog, especially when you`re out doing it.
Hi. I'm a live aboard sailor. Would appreciate a wind forecast to complement your excellent report.
Oh yes Tery, you are certainly doing a thing 👌🏻
Moral is agin good in the bumbling camp, which is great to see,
Keep at it mate,
Great video Terry. Cawsand Bay is my local port of call/anchorage. One recommendation, try wearing sailing gloved whilst handling the anchor chain, saves your fingers wearing out!
Comments are turned off for your ast video. About getting hit.
Well done bud, its amazing just how much improvement you've made since the early days, the boats looking like a well loved and used vessel and ya camera skills have come on in leaps and bounds.
keep on keeping on and one day youl look back with nothing but fond memories,
best wishes from Pompey ....
You gonna change the name of the channel, mate? Didn't see too much Bumbling, looked like a Sailor to me. Nice one captain
What do they charge for the fuel ?
Sometimes they charge you full rate . Unless you get it in drums for " heating "
Anyone else found that?
Wow, it's really nice. It's really attractive
Awesome Terry, great when she runs at 7's & 8's and then you spend rest of avo trying to figure out how you did it..! Get the cheat sheet from sailing madness, worked wonders for me ;)
Fast forwarding video not necessary
Little tip for you keep looking top of the mast for wind , if you tide a light rob or plastic light strings each side of your mast riggings it will show you way of the wind ! Fair winds from Nc usa
wel my freind u inspired me and the misses we too now are looking into buying a boat thank u and keep up the great vids
You couldn't have picked a nicer day
This is why I subscribed, you're a better sailor than waffler! All you need now is a line in the water, I'd love to see you land a big ol' tomcod!
I think you have to blow towards the stern to gain speed. just saying.....
Watching this as an old Brit living in California, I grew up in Plymouth and Cawsand Bay was my playground as a child and around 6 years ago I bought a yacht living on it for a few years … insanely jealous of what you’re doing and want to go sailing all over again.
Hi Terry! I’m leaving Plymouth for Falmouth Monday early morning, are you headed same way?
I'm already in Portishead 👍👍
@@BumblingSailoroh of course, I had a blonde moment 😂. Loved this video! Your “just get on with it” attitude prompted me to get back and buy a new (old) boat!
Good job Terry by the time you finish your round trip of the uk you will have learnt a lot and become a seasoned sailer
You might go faster if the beard came off
Wow what a difference a couple of months you were so down with all that boat work, how nice it is to see a big smile on your face when you’re sailing. So glad you’re doing what you wanted to do when you first started “ sailing “
Dave's talking to real people, you're talking to little people in your phone😛
I ain't got the clueist about sailing mate but. Love blogs and good luck😂
Good to see the crocs are still going strong
Terry that’s one of the best sailing videos I have seen, you have showed all the new skippers how it can done.
Get rid of that old anchor and new get delta or Rocna.
great episode👍
R'reet Terry, Great video Sir, thank you.
‘I’m doing a thing’ 😂 keep doing your thing bro.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip
So you were parked up near where I lived!
Good t0 see you out sailing brilliant
Good to see you enjoying your sailing mate, good on you.
Good morning Terry, I’ve been watching you since the beginning and I’m actually proud of you. You’ve come along way from just wanting to be a sailor actually sailing so it’s pretty cool to see your progress.
I like vlogs aswell 😂😂
Well done Terry, working hard making it look easy, your skill set is growing everyday its great to watch.
Long live Fin.
Thanks
I'm so proud of you!
As an RYA instructor That lifejacket is not fitted correctly its way to loose and why are you using a lifejacket without crutch strap? if you have not got one 'get one' its you wearing the lifejacket
what model sail boat is this?
Scampi 30 👍
@@BumblingSailor Thanks, nice little boat I bet it slams going to wether though.
