In my city the zoo has a system where they accept used Christmas trees and use them as enrichment for predators or as added vitamins for herbivores (same with excess pumpkin, squashes and apples in autumn), I think it's really interesting and clever

That is my biggest concern. How much actual tree is used to produce the "ingredients" in a tree-course meal? When I google it, I'm seeing that 6% of the log's volume becomes sawdust at a sawmill, so we'd be dealing with 3 pounds of sawdust from a 50-lb tree. That leaves 47 pounds of needles, branches, and trunk to cook up as well.

Grind it, dry it, and a 50 lb tree should net you about 20 lbs of sawdust. Maybe that's 6% of the volume, I've no idea.

Ok, I actually wish I could try the pine needle ice cream. I actually enjoy the flavor of pine (in gin for instance) and I think it would actually be delicious and refreshing in a vanilla ice cream. I don't have access to a freeze drier, but maybe if I steeped some pine needles in the milk before mixing everything together...

I loved this episode! It was so good! I always love seeing a classic Matt and Steph episode, and it was great watching them do such a good job making a pine tree edible! Being allergic to pollen as I am, I don't think I'd be able to try this, but it's so cool to see how much can be done.

Fun milk fact: it is really hard for milk to expire so long as it is kept. Even if it is discolored, smelling, and tasting bad, it is still edible, if you're brave enough. Adam Conover from Adam Ruins Everything explains it a lot better than I, so go find the clip if you wanna know more.

A cough medicine here in Canada uses pine needle oil/essence/something. It’s called Benedryl and its tagline is “Tastes awful but it works”
Ok, I actually wish I could try the pine needle ice cream. I actually enjoy the flavor of pine (in gin for instance) and I think it would actually be delicious and refreshing in a vanilla ice cream. I don't have access to a freeze drier, but maybe if I steeped some pine needles in the milk before mixing everything together...
I would love to know how many portions of each dish they would have to make to cook up the whole tree :´)

I loved this episode! It was so good! I always love seeing a classic Matt and Steph episode, and it was great watching them do such a good job making a pine tree edible! Being allergic to pollen as I am, I don't think I'd be able to try this, but it's so cool to see how much can be done.
I love how steph is explaining the jelly when Matt tries to eat the pine cone, and the most of her reaction was just a sigh of disappointment-

Fun milk fact: it is really hard for milk to expire so long as it is kept. Even if it is discolored, smelling, and tasting bad, it is still edible, if you're brave enough.
