- This is one of those catchy songs that gets stuck in your head (good thing I like the song). This is a performance featuring just me, myself and I (well, two out of three ain't bad...) Hope you like it! (Stick with it to see the special guest accompanist.)
If you have any song requests, let me know and I'll try to put it up here.
Thanks for watching/listening!
Andrew
To clarify: I always had the range, but hadn't figured out the scream/rasp until 9 years ago (that includes the growl on lower notes as well--think Billy Joel in some of his songs). There is a way to scream without doing damage.
Just saw your Beatles Birthday cover, absolutely amazing! If I may ask, in reply to this comment, how did you learn to scream without damaging your voice? It's something I'm having a lot of difficulty with and I don't know what to look for.
As the video began I made a comment to my wife as to why you weren't centered...perhaps you were showing off the pictures of your family and, basically ,sharing the stage with a lamp...how cool...we like you stuff a lot ,sir
Thanks. Glad you liked it. Yes the original key is E (like it is here). My range (depending on what time of day it is) goes from about A2 (an octave-and-a-third below middle-C) to about C5 (not including falsetto--with falsetto I can get up to about E6).
Soberbia versión! Hermosa voz. Vuelvo a felicitarte desde Argentina.
Thank you so much! This means so much to me. Please do more Train songs, Lub!
you are such a hell of a singer ! Awesome voice !
Beautiful singing
Very cool. Now every time I hear that song I will think of both of you ;-p
yes!!!!
Yes, I'm a tenor. The C5-E6 range would be falsetto and a head/mix. I always had the falsetto. As far as the upper-range of my chest voice, I remember in high school, I could get up to A4, but it would sometimes be a bit of a strain. Now it's no problem (most likely because of better technique). I didn't figure out the Paul "scream-y" style until I was about 36 (9 years ago).
wow the both of u are very good :D
It’s the same person.
It's the answer to the question, "what's better than Andrew?"
Much props my bandmate!
Great vocals.
awsoome dude!! keep it up!
Very cool. If you watch, make sure to wait til the middle of the tune for the guest appearance.
Wow michael keaton sings very good!!!!
Amazing voice :)
Great strong voice
nice nice well done =)
not bad dude il b puttin it up on face book
nice work
later in the video it looks like you're fighting for the spotlight with youself XD
Just lovely to see your passion in your avocation Andrew ... on the strength of your vocal harmonies ... I can only suggest that the Beach Boys would give you a run for your money and your "Macintosh friends" some airtime ...how bout it? sandy
omg... you are train!!! XD
Actually, it's a ukulele (although it does look a bit like a balalaika). It's a "Fluke" uke from Flea Market Music.
Thank you! I have had a number of requests for Beach Boys songs. I guess I'll have to think about which ones to do now :)
Is that a balalaika? If so then that is amazing.
Do you just scream and learn through practice or is there a method? I haven't been able to find a way yet, I scream, sounds usually good, but I definitely damage it, at least temporarily. And how did you move from A4 to C5, that seems like a pretty big transition, I doubt people would normally see any increase in the chest range after high school, at least without special training.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
C5 is really impressive, so you're a tenor? By the way, are you sure about E6, could it be E5, and is this your 'born range', as in, did you get it up to there or could you just sing it all when you started singing? I know most tenors learn to go crazy high (around E5-C6+ range notes) with special head/mixed register voice, I learned that less than a year ago, now I can imitate the way Paul sings "jude jude" at the end of Hey Jude, that scream-y style
So basically you learned to hit C5 and so on about 9 years ago? When I was in HS, I had a similar range to, around A4, B4 at best, not I can hit up to C#5-D5, but it's very inconsistent, I can never guarantee, I'd have to sing high/scream a few minutes to get my voice a bit 'raspy', which I think actually damages the voice, and it somehow 'unlocks' my upper chest range, but I can't tell if it's really high chest or head voice, definitely not falsetto. What technique did you employ to extend it?
Nice cover, what's your vocal range? I know quite a few tenors who can't sing it in the original key (i think E), I'm a tenor myself, it's pretty hard to do without strain.
Please, do Somewhere over the rainbow.
what instrement can't you play? :O

Hey Andrew... you both rock! We'd love to have you jump up with us to do this track on June 18th at Farrells, if you're around.

Oy I liked all your vids until this one. This has got to be one of the most annoying songs ever recorded, probably 2nd only to Maroon 5 doing Payphone. That seems to be the trend today with bands, who can record the most annoying song.
Stick to the beatles songs. I didn't really like this one.
