Don’t forget to like, comment, and share. Turned out so beautiful! ❤️🌻
Thank you so much♥️
Diy wife,Andrea, was the 1st.person I watched that made this base. It is so simple, beautiful, and popular.I don't like power tools, but would chace it to make the base.
Yes so simple! Love Andrea’s videos! Thx for watching ❤️❤️
Thank you for giving Andrea, the star of DIY Wife, credit for posting her how-to create a custom built base so that other furniture makeover people can use her creation on their pieces. Your base turned out really good and I loved your finished piece.
It’s beautiful. You are so talented. I did read, though, that the shellac trick works with poplar but shouldn’t be done with oak, ash, or hickory. Just wanted to pass that along.
Great save, I would have passed on that pressboard piece but now have a new appreciation to saving one maybe ;)
Nice job! Good luck with the family.
Stunning piece!
Poplar is notorious for being terrible at taking stain. It can also have a green hue on occasion. Love this piece, I’m using silk for the first time this week.
That’s good to know lol… let me know what you think of silk! ☺️♥️
Thank you!!!
Very pretty!
My first time here. I am a fan of Andrea’s @ My DIY Wife and her custom base, so I did a search to see how other furniture flippers are using her tutorial in their pieces. Nice job, this piece needed a lot of love and you really made this piece usable again!

Girl! You've got some mad skills!! So pretty and such a great job constructing this base! WOW!! So great! You should be very proud!! Congrats!! :)
Haha thanks Beth
Very nice work. I love how you worked so hard on the base, yet at 13:15 you say, “just like that we have...”
😂😂😂
I love using sea spray on tops that have alot of damage. It's perfect and you can make it different each time
It came out fantastic 💜🕉
Thank you Reta!!
The difference in how the stain looked on the base with shellac is amazing.
Sure is!!
Te felicito
I was wondering how the stain would take on the poplar wood even with the pre stain. Alternately you can try a gel stain too. The shellac did wonders though. Love it!
I love poplar because of how evenly it stains, I've never had the blotchy issues! But it's good to know that if i ever do i can shellac first🤔 i love how it turned out! I don't think red oak would have been as beautiful! I subbed!
Thank you 😊
The best way to avoid a blotchy finish when staining is to use a wood pre-conditioner first. (Make sure you use water based if your stain is water based, oil based if your stain is oil based). It helps tremendously!
just Beautiful..new subscriber.. have a great week
Hi April, welcome!☺️ thanks for being here and watching!
I missed it, but what color was the Varathane stain?
Love how this looks & the total transformation.
Beautiful. What color stain did you use?
Beautiful job. I just need the stain slightly more red. Does that stain come in red?😅
New subscriber here, very nice xx
Welcome Janet! Thx for watching ❤️
Hi, can you please tell the brand of the paint and the color , did you mixed with something else Thank you
Cool project. I noticed you brushed primer but sprayed the paint. Is the logic that you planned to sand the primer so not worth the spray finish? Best of luck with IVF and your family journey.
Thanks Mark, I was just honestly being too lazy to want to get my sprayer out lol
I’m going to try that staining technique! For the legs did you just use a 2x2 and cut one corner at an angle?
Yes I did :) Let me know how it goes with the shellac trick!
The angle on that leg is different from DIY wife. Would you share what the angle was?
What color stain did you use
Can Lowe's cut pieces for you?
The feet keep splitting when I do this. I want to cry. We are using the right screw too. Any thoughts? It's red oak...
Your legs look better than diy wife. You extended leg out and pushed front board back instead of flush with leg. Not sure I make sense. But yours is more attractive.
