I'm sorry but I still find it weird that Savannah married to Tim because of a pity. She could be his best friend, help him at all cost, and take care of Allan without sacrifiying her life and John's heart.
I thought that part is very unnecessary. It's just something that doesn't make sense that was added for drama

Tim could have left the kid to her. She didn't need to destroy a man in the deepest worst way.
Its based on drama book, drama had to be there, i agree stupid plot as in mexican telenovelas.
This is what I hate about this movie... Tim needed her, but what about John, her husband. The man is out there, risking his life to have the woman he loves marry some other guy out of the goodness of her heart. Couldn't she just be Tim's friend and that's it, why marry the guy.

I think she made that poor choice for being naive and idealistic, probably thinking that through being sacrificial love would come between Tim and her. And also, the chances of John coming back alive were really low. I understand her but it's still a poor choice, she probably didn't have good advisors around

She probably went through a lot and she wasn't able to express it to people around her. And she probably suffered alone. And she might have thought Sacrificing herself for someone like the guy who was sick was the right thing to do.
Maybe she wasn't ready for it but she did it anyway cuz there was nobody out there to help her at those time.

@@sarathsasikumar3759 I mean u dont know what happened to Savannah at that moment. Shw could have been emotional blackmailed without her realisation. And she could have been so lonely and unable to think straight.
When people are at their lowest we tend to make unwanted choices in life.

Again I just feel like commenting on this scene, Savanah said real stupid things based on the fact that the opposite of stupidity is wisdom, 1. "He (Tim) needed me, arrogance comes through, like she was the only person in this great world, who could save him 2. I had no choice, yes she had one choice to make, John, who truly loved her and was very loving to her, she traded John for Tim, like she would have traded a brand new Cadillac for an old beat up VW Beattle. She married this weasel who had a "master plan." He most have played her like a violin.
Yo be fair John traded her in for the army life, she didnt want him to reenlist again and he did it without asking so the relationship was over.

I know right, so if she heard his voice, then why didn’t u call him then🤦♂️🤦♂️, u wanted to hear his voice , u said u didn’t have a choice so what’s the point In saying his voice would have changed your mind about being engaged, so u couldn’t wait.
His shoulder boards are backwards. They should be turned around so the insignia is closer to the outside of the shoulder, bottom of the black bar, AND the tip facing up, not down. I get it that they actually make things not perfect in movies but it looks really odd.

Be upset at him, the man was on leave lol, to enjoy his time not to find love😂😂🤦♂️🤦♂️. Just a movie but still. When ever u reach a breaking point of being happy within yourself and your life, really be careful of who u fall in love with, u want to sustain that happiness.

Its a beautiful movie but it doesn’t make any sense. I mean its weird that she married bc of pity. But she knew John only for 2 weeks and when he was away they couldn’t even call. Life goes on.. its not that they had a strong foundation to begin with
I'm sorry But Savannah did have choices she was swayed and manipulated by Tim who played on her sympathy for him being sick which is despicable and If I had been John I would have beat him to death for doing so. Incidentally I too received a Dear John Letter when I was in Vietnam Just to let you know the devastation that happens when those letters are your only connection to the sane world is suddenly cut you tend to do stupid stuff one of my brother soldiers stood up in the middle of a firefight because he received one.
