This brought me back to the (imo) peak era of Sonic, where they werent afraid to try anything with Sonic. Hearing this song was just as hype as hearing What I'm Made Of from Sonic Heroes.
Don't let Merlins illusion fool you, Sonic was thinking that Arthur was real up until seeing the granddaughter of him, yet sonic still struck him down. This was a point where Sonic in his mind was okay with killing if it was the right thing. And he didn't even think it was fake!
Exactly, and this calls Sonic's morality into question as earlier in the story Sonic also spared Lancelot, abandoned the mission to save a village from a dragon, prevent Gawain from committing suicide and even saved Sir Percival from falling to her death. So how do you reconcile Sonic's actions here which show that he will spare and even save an enemy but also kill them if necessary. The answer is shown to us when he saves Percival. She asks him why and his response is "Its just the whims of my fickle master." Or "I guess you could say that whim is my other master." In the English version. Thats it. Sonic doesn't actually have a real moral code, he just does what feels right at the time. He doesn't even consider himself a hero, he just can't stand seeing people in trouble and feels compelled to help them and thats really all there is to it. Its not anything more complex than that and it doesn't need to be.

This is INSANE, loved it, the chorus chanting during the first verse gave me goosebumps, I was hoping to hear it, like "man, if only this had a Final Fantasy esque chorus chanting alongside the music" but didn't think they'd kick in after the first part and they pleasantly surprised me!!
This was definitely my favorite game growing up. I didn't care about the controls, I didn't care how linear it was. It was stupid fun for my young mind and I'll always treasure it
Time to slay, the underworld queen, and bring the end to Avalon, be the villian of this story, all whilst shining brightly clad in golden armour from head to toe, with a crimsom cape bellowing behind, Exclabilar in hand and speed transcended.
