Hi Professor Arguelles, I want to preface this by mentioning I did not know if I should put this comment on your website or the Assimil video, I opted to post a comment on this video because I was not sure if you replied to comments on your old videos and I did not believe that this would of complimented any existed info on your website. I just finished watching your Assimil 15 minute study video and the follow-up. I found myself afterwards looking for the beginner and intermediate version for English to French. I was able to find the beginner book; however, I was unable to find the intermediate book. I was curious if there were other resources for intermediate level English to French learning similar to Assimil. I know you mentioned German had similar resources to Assimil but I could not find any company based in Germany.

After a quick look at the Assimil site, it appears that they have unfortunately discontinued their intermediate-to-advanced level courses. It has always been a bit difficult differentiating between the names of Assimil courses, "without toil," with ease," and now just "language name." The intermediate French course used to be called "Using French" and I believe I showed it in the follow-up video to the 15 minute video. It is still available on Amazon and used sources. Regarding German sources, there is nothing here parallel to Assimil's parallel texts, but there are plenty of very high quality materials.

Thank you so much. I love the videos. And I hope to come back one day with a range of languages I understand. @@ProfASAr

Thought provoking demonstration on multiple levels. This is an interesting tool that has much flexibility for any sequence of related words.
Is this primarily a verbal exercise, or can there be accompanying mental images? For example, could the Spanish sequence hablo, hablas, habla have an accompanying image of myself, "you", and another person where I mentally point to myself with "hablo", point to you with "hablas", and point to a nearby person with "habla"? And then so forth for the plural forms? Or I suppose I could bring up some images on a computer screen of people and assign them various "roles" and "interact" with them while speaking.
Another thing that came to my mind is the flexibility of choosing word ordering by voice, mood, number, tense, etc. Thinking in terms of interleaved learning rather than blocked learning, this type of tool has the capability of forming a "web" of associations with a particular verb form by using different sequences by choosing different "axes" of characteristics. Starting with 1st person present indicative, one could go multiple "directions". 1S, 2S, 3S, 1P, 2P, 3P present indicative. 1S present, 1S past, etc. for various tenses. 1S present indicative, 1S present subjunctive, etc, for various moods. This would allow exposure to the various "connections" 1S present indicative has with other verb forms. Of course, the number of possible sequences grows exponentially with "axes" used and the starting point form. I wonder about doing this to focus one's attention on a particular aspect of verbal forms such as tense, voice, or mood.
This flexibility of sequence would probably be a poor approach for a class requiring memory work with the forms being presented in a particular curriculum order. But, I wonder for self-learning if choosing particular sequences could strengthen one's weak spots as needed. E.g. Running through all the 1S tenses, then all the 2S tenses, etc. would be exposure to the change in forms across tenses. This is mentally quite different from doing the persons and numbers in a single tense. The "direction" being followed in a sequence is what the brain will start assimilating.
Anyway, a lot of potential impact in various ways from a simple 4 minute video.

Thank you, as always, Gandalf, for the substantive comments, which I hope others take the time to read. In answer to your pointed question, for me this is a verbal exercise, but for "visual" people, sure, add images!

For macrons, use a Maori keyboard '`', the key on the top left with a tilde, followed by a vowel produces a macron. All the rest is just like the English keyboard, e.g. ā, ē, ī, ō, ū.
