The campfire actually still goes out in the rain despite the patch notes saying it's fixed. Its real advantage is its light weight. In our group I spend a lot of time running and hunting away from the base, and having that on me to drop in a cave to hit the bedroll while I cook some meat is super handy. The only problem is that for some reason the full-sized fireplace is even lighter at 2.0kg (a typo, I assume).
I literally found these today, in a cave in the ice area that have a big hole in the cave that I nearly fell down being so excited seeing mushrooms for the first time completely didn't see the hole lol
farming packs are great if you're going into a long mission that doesn't leave the desert, even if you're not cooking, just the stamina from vegetables is great, when normally the only food bonus you can get is from meat.
Nice overview of all the new stuff. Mushrooms are only usable one time for a meal, you can't plant them. You get 5pcs by pack and it's not worth it. But the Gatherer's Backpack is very useful, I'll bring it with me for every mission I do not use the Backpack-Slot (e.g. Scan-Missions).
Ok.. Great vid as usual. Informitive. But to add to the knife is a short spear that attacks fast and allows to skin bit.. Spear is a long knife that when you throw can 1 shot a bear. ...sadly the new furnace is only copper and iron...not worth a slot. Furnace is a pile of stone...its everywhere.
I just got into this game. It was annoying the first 5 levels but now I'm actually getting addicted and having fun. I like your video. I have a ways to go before I get these items.
From what I can tell the furnace, campfire and crate don't take damage from weather. The furnace makes a perfectly good storage container so no real benefit to the crate. Also I'm able to sleep next to the furnace so it kinda doubles as a campfire in this regard (this may be a bug). And the furnace is way lighter than the one you build so it's easy to drag between caves when you move. But if you're talents are in ore wt. reduction and you have the right backpack, you will be mining out several caves in just minutes and headed back home before you can even start smelting anything.

I would think they have more range and damage than a knife, I was surprised when he said they were not useful. I usually rock a couple spears in survival games like this, although I haven't played yet. Waiting for it to download
Soo, I think the Jijing Bow is absolutely excellent! Never had to craft a bow ever again. It performs like the recurve, but has durability that rivals, if not beats, that of the compound bow. Only used compound bow once, so it's hard to judge. But I do know that it last me entire missions, even long ones, and yes, it's my main weapon always. Buying the pre-made arrows, even the cheapest ones, is actually not bad at all. It is a bit frustrating dealing with stone arrows until u can get some bone arrows. But at the same time, you can always just knife some wolves, boars, bears (in water), etc. until you get some bones to start making better arrows. So just a matter of preference, buying arrows or not, good either way since they're cheap enough. And they do last you for a very long time if you recover them. The top pickaxe, the "Neves" is cool, but GARBAGE at the same time. It was a huuuge disappointment. I really thought that for the grind, I'd never have to craft an axe ever again, but holy effing fuq... Yes, the yield is nice, and sure the -50% encumb. penalty is nice, BUT... it has the durability of an iron pickaxe, pretty much. It's about the same or slightly worse as the Dong pickaxe. So what good is it if it only allows me THE SAME BENEFIT AS THE DONG PICKAXE??? Why grind so hard for a pickaxe that has literally the same purpose as a 400Ren pickaxe?? and only providing 12% more yield than the Dong. I already complained on their "suggestions" page. It's pathetic for the cost, honestly, and until they fix it, it's not worth it. And if you're wondering what I mean about same benefit, I mean that it allows you to skip steel pickaxe, if you do it right. Because it will not get you to T4 comfortably, you will still need to craft a better pickaxe and use that, at which point, it's perk is no longer useful, unless you waste an inventory slot and keep it on you just to switch to it when ur over encumbered... I think and hope that I'll be happier with the knife, mainly to avoid the injuries from those pesky wolves and boars. Other than that, the knife after the mxc one has been very great, and usually lasts most of the missions, at least. Those are the only (pure) exotic items I plan on getting. The mxc axe has been sufficient so far, haven't needed anything better, but occasionally I've crafted a better one on planet. The canteen is fantastic. The O2 tank is great. As far as envirosuits, if it doesn't have 2 module slots, it's trash. I always use 2 mass dampeners for the speed. And I have the Naneo armor which is also pretty great. I mainly love that I can finally not worry about being in the Arctic, plus all its bonuses are pretty nice. I just wish it also had the 5% speed boost of the cloth armor. The green backpack, also fantastic. So many great items, but the most expensive one (Neves pickaxe) is so garbage... so pissed about that. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. If I didn't mention it, more than likely I haven't used it/haven't felt a need for it.
@@burningblaise Headstone: Geo Survey can be speedran with no risk in less than 20 minutes easy for 150 Ren. For exotics, I've seen people just speed through deep vein: extraction but it can be risky and definitely gets old
The woodweight reduction on the Axe is kinda useless cause the Backback got -45% on Wood AND oreweight. At that Point you already struggle with Slots in your inventory and Not weight. Thats why im rocking the Armor, Double Movespeed, Backpack (Green or Red depending on the Mission), pickaxe and knife. Of the envirosuit with Double Supportslot. I dont See the use for much else from the Workshop. Im running wet Work Hardcore in 20min giving me 1050 bucks and 300 exotics per hour. That way you can unlock everything quickly. Idk If Theres a faster Method. The only reason to Take other stuff is in Multiplayer going in with Friends dropping all 10 items f.e. arrows etc. Removing yourself from the Operation and then joining again with a different loadout. But the hassle is Just to big. They should Just give us an additional Slot for certain itemgroups Like 1 Slot each for "seeds", "consumables" and "utility". Cause right now to many Things Just dont get used cause of space issues.
i was playing while watching this video and found my first mushrooms XD they are in caves in the tundra area. not that usefull tho but still they are in the game
This was a part of a new update. Unfortunately they were not out in caves until after this video came out. We covered it in our update videos we release every week.
I haven't tried any of the workshop bows, stat-wise they're all worse than even the wood bow... I'd actually rather have the arrows that are super cheap, have better stats than flint arrows, and having arrows right away is handy, especially in the desert where sticks are in short supply.
The top arrows are equivalent to aluminum, and you are right they are very convenient to have and cheap to bring on a mission. Usually 25 last me all mission since they don't break easily and the talent to shoot 2 arrows actually puts me past 25 a lot. I end some missions with 30 of them lol.
anyone have good settings? i9 11900k 3080 and i get high fps but frame drops and stuttery. Was wondering if anyone had some nice settings they find work for them :)
For that top-tier tools that take only exotics, I don't get it. Skinning percent with an iron knife is far more than enough and the damage on the second to top knife is better and not hard to get after level 20. The pick ax is nice but you don't need top tier to make it nice. To me, tools only cut a few minutes off a run.
Increased yield is the only thing I care about in a knife... it makes a huge difference early game, especially if you're getting bed rolls and leather/fur armor for the whole party. Speeding up the early game is pretty much my goal with workshop items.
Trust me dude the top pickaxe makes a big difference in time savings. I can over-encumber myself in a cave close to the drop pod and run at near full speed to the next cave where I make ingots in the mxc furnace and rinse and repeat. the survival backpack makes it even better since there's 5 more inventory slots and 5% more move speed. Missions that require tier 4 go a lot faster. Downside is the game's boring now and feels very easy with my loadout.
I gotta disagree with not bringing arrows, especially when levelling a new character. They are incredibly handy (and im talking about the newly released arrows with 5% break chance) which allows you to keep all your bones for epoxies and can gather a ton of them before you run out of them. As far as the crate goes, Im actually going to test this if someone has not already and see if it stops spoilage of food. If it does, then the crate has a good use, but if not, I wouldnt bother. As far as the spear, I am normally a spear hunter, and i would say I would never EVER buy that spear for the life of me, as I often throw them, and the damage on this spear is equivalent to a wooden spear. For that cost, that little damage, and no benefit at all to a spear thrower, I would never buy it. If I want a starting spear for a speedrun, better just getting the cheapest spear.
I uninstalled this game because of farming exotics. Devs force you to do same mission over and over and over and over again to get best stuff, fuck that
Yeah other games trained you in the farm grind type gamer mentality. Don’t worry about the end rewards , do mission at own pace and just enjoy the experience and environment.
You can mine exotic veins on almost any mission. Some of the later missions have multiple veins. We just do it when we feel like spending extra time in a mission.
90% of the exotics are pointless. Talents mostly replace modules. All the suits are worthless minus the hark s5 and the 2 that give a food slot. Consumables all worthless minus the bacterial vaccine III for it's duration. Farming is a complete joke so no reason for seeds. The naneo armor is debatable as being worth 5 of your loadout slots as it's buffs aren't that amazing and it's defense is lower than fur armor. Only the top bow is worth buying.
They're both. "Exotics" are both the resource your mine / currency you spend, AND the items you buy with them. They're exotic items, so people call them Exotics

Never leave home without the knife and spear, the good spear gives +10% movement and -10% stamina consumption.
the stamina thing is nice but you can get 10% movement speed on any bow or knife with talents.

New tools are 1400 exotics, no way but farming exotics to have them, but farming is booring :(

The workshop bows should perform between the Longbow and the Recurve, it doesn't make sence right now.

The pickaxes don't last long enough to spend any exotics on unless you've farmed enough and have exotics to blow IMO
Yeah, I found that out after I'd spent exos on one that basically does the same as a stone axe, and can't be repaired. Total waste.

Do not waste $ on the tools that have stats like +15% to stamina burn. Just research them to get to the higher tiers.

Why do you call these workshop items "exotics"? Exotics are the rare minerals we get on the planet, and use to pay for these workshop items...
They're both.
