I recorded and mixed all these songs in the same tuning being Eb Standard/ Drop C#, Drop B or B# Standard on the 7 string. This helped with some copyright issues as well as provided me a halfway point for one tuning for the whole video, as these songs all use a range of different tuning higher and lower than the instrumentals I recorded. I used Superior Drummer for the drums. Hope you all enjoy and there's lots more of this kind of content on the way, including another "Essential Riffs" video already complete. Hello Everyone!!!
Hope all is well out there. This video will be the start to a new ongoing series I will be doing called “Essential Riffs”, where try to pick out the most essential riffs from a artists whole discography and showcase them in my own rerecorded instrumental sections. I try to have the least amount of bias possible when choosing these and will usually make multiple posts on different platforms to get a broad idea of which riffs people sway towards the most. But as with anything a little bias will always be in there as i make the final call on what makes it, but theres always gonna. W more than 10 good riffs anytime its a decent band. No better way to kick this series off than with one of my all time favourite groups, Thrice! I feel these guys are quite underrated for their guitar work especially through the first few albums of their career. Most of the bands I will be covering in this series will try to be unique or ones not hyped as much as they should. Let me know if you guys ever have any suggestions for one of these! Thrice is my all-time favorite band. Have been since 2004. I actually don't really listen to many other people. I can listen to their entire discography on repeat.

Hey thanks for the comment! Protest is one of my favourite bands ever! A bad band for copyright issues to begin with so itd be the perfect band to do it with, hopefully i can do the crazy stuff they do on guitar some justice haha.

For sure! Artist/Illusion/Vheissu will always be the golden era of thrice for me, i feel that style was what they were best at. Not too take away from the stuff to come later though, its all amazing stuff and it proved how talented these guys really were. Thanks for watching! :)

What the hell happened to Thrice after the 3rd album?! They changed to a whole different style... I liked it much better before.
Very cool but a lot of the riffs are wrong. Just some constructive criticism cause you’re a decent guitar player but you’re missing just little parts of a lot of the riffs. The biggest one was not reaching that high note in the ending to awake riff.. just go one fret further!!! Still good job though man - rock on!
