Bora 4 life! It's become a little bit easier here in Norway, but from what I've heard the car has to be at least 20 years old before you can do any major upgrades without too much fuss. Mine turns 20 this fall, and I've been thinking of dropping a VR5 or 6 into it....

I’m hopefully about to buy my first car, a 2008 standard Jetta, and I didn’t think you could really do anything to them, this def gave me motivation to bring it to it’s fullest potential if I do get it

I'm doing a Smyth Ute out of the wife's old 99 5 gls vr6. It's an auto 😂 If she wants to drive it, fine. If not and the trans blows, a manual swap ain't hard and I've got all the pieces except for the trans. If it blows up and she still wants to drive it ,I'll find another auto for it. Folks rip on the o1m ,but mines been serviced like 3-4x in 130k out of fear of dirty fluid killing it.
So, I just bought a 2000 Mk4 Golf 2 door hatch and the chassis has 202k miles on it, so I only paid $400 for it. I have sunk another $1500 into making it a somewhat reliable daily. It's a 2.0 8 valve AEG with a 5 speed and this car couldn't get out of it's own way, so I'm currently looking into building a budget turbo kit for it. I'm not looking to make 400 whp, but it'd be nice to have 200 at the wheels, so it'll be a stock internal low boost build. I HATE the long runner two-piece intake manifold and I've been dying to make my own sheet metal intake manifold, because every single aftermarket manifold I've seen for this car is RIDICULOUSLY priced and unavailable. Anyway, I have like 3 larger intercoolers, all the piping I'd ever need, an HKS SSQV BOV, a Tial F38 38mm wastegate, 660cc Bosch injectors, an AEM 340 LPH fuel pump, a PLX wideband, and a freshly rebuilt Turbonetics 60-1 Hifi all sitting on my shelf from when I built my 612 whp EJ8 Civic coupe, so all I'd need at this point is the turbo manifold and some way of tuning it. The car already has a nice sounding 3" exhaust.

@@jaydiancepeda1428 Honestly I might just pull the lower manifold flange where it bolts to the head and adapt this extra Skunk2 Ultra Street intake manifold and 70mm throttle body to it if I can. I have a buddy that TIG welds, so he shouldn't have a problem adapting it.

@@jan5818 i found guides on superchargers and bugger cams and rebuilding the engine, but nothing really solid on simply installing a lil bit of boost. All the parts/tubing/intake manifold you need basically need to be fabricated since no one I know makes them anymore.

I put a ram intake on my 2.0 because i liked the sound. I found a turbo kit for my car at a crate store for under $200 but there is still more i need to buy.
I got a Direct Shift Gearbox. It works great. I can drive it like a manual. I don't use 6th gear much around town purely for popping noises in 5th hahaha

how do you control fuel and ignition advance ? Stock ecu with tune ? or are you using an aftermarket ecu ( megasquirt, speeduino etc ) . an easy way to have a 2.0 turbo is to use a 1.9 TDI 8v exhaust manifold, remove the VGT, weld on a T2/T3 flange and enjoy!
I got the transmission for 120 at the junk yard. And axles were like 50. Just need the shifter assembly a clutch kit a few wiring items and fuses for under the dash. In total I think it was around 700 I remember being quoted like 1900 for the swap which would be nice to not have to worry about doing the work but it wasn't all that hard since I had the engine out anyway

@@samhaley6024 frankenturbo makes a really great hybrid turbo. Thats by far the best bang for your buck. Big turbo options are slimmer but gt28rs is pretty much a home run. They are great turbos for these cars. Dont sleep on the k03s or K04 stock turbos. A little tune wakes them right up and you can make 230hp with a tune, DV valve, and intercooler.
Raceland coils (the cheapest ones they sell lol) 15mm spacers up front and 5mm in the back. The wheels are 18x10. And 35mm offset I believe I can't remember for sure lol
