However, did not think of it before, but calling Djurgården "Museum Island" is really spot on.

Visited Turun linna just this July. It was 15-16€. A LOT of walking involved. We walked through the old part in 75 minutes and saw the reception again and thought "oh wow, that was quite large took some time.. Oh wait, there's another half of the castle on the other side of the reception we haven't visited." And I will say, 75 minutes was a speedrun. If you wanna stay and read through all the info tables and stories in them, it'll take another 45 minutes for the old part. We only read some texts in rooms that we found most interesting and looked at some structural details and whatnot. There's a lot to see for 15€!

Even though I'm a Finn, I will say that if you are interested in museums, Stockholm is a fabulous place to visit. I have been to the Vasa Museum twice over the years. It's truly impressive. I think I said it before a couple of years ago, but you can easily and inexpensively get to Turku from Stockholm overnight by using one of the cruise-ferries, though of course there are many cabin/suite options available to suit your needs and budget. But even the cheaper cabins with no windows are good enough with their own showers and everything. Flights between the USA and Stockholm are more plentiful compared to Helsinki, so you might consider flying to Stockholm, checking it out, and then taking a cruise-ferry to Finland. When you get off the ship in Turku, the medieval castle is right there to welcome you. If you ever end up visiting the Nordics.

This is some good advice. It might even be a good idea to take the "day ferry" from Stockholm and disembark in Mariehamn to spend a little bit there, then either hop on the day ferry next day to continue to Turku, or use the smaller archipelago ferries to work one's way to the mainland. It's a nice way to travel that distance, especially if you're on foot, bicycle, or motor bike (personal cars have lowest boarding priority for archipelago ferries over everyone else iirc so there's a chance of delays with that)

Seems like a great city that would take weeks to explore!

I had a funny feeling when you were scrolling over Turku, my hometown for almost 60 years now. Thousands of memories covered in a few mouse moves.

Nice map, and again I liked to watch how you searched those places from Wikipedia and found out what they exactly are. This time I have been in all places that appeared in the game :)

You got off pretty easy here, all very easy to recognize locations. Tried this map as well, but I got more obscure places farther north in Iceland and even Faroe Islands.

In Pori, Finland trees look exactly like that now.
I bet Stockholm is behind, because it is more south.

I've been to all of these places! (not very surprising, as I'm a Finn) Guessing the Turku Cathedral for the Castle was a good atrempt, as they're pretty much the only two buildings old enough for the kind of stonework that ws shown, and it's not that well known that a prevalence of red brick is huge with old, affluent strone churches in Finland. (Basically, it doesn't serve that well as fortification, but it was more laborious and thus way more valuable than actual stone, making it a show of the church's weath and affluence)
I heartily recommend visiting the castle for anyone who is thinking of travelling to Finland, it has a unique atmosphere, the staff 'uniforms' are historical dress you'd expect to have seen in the correct period, and the gift shop has a lot of unique historical souvenirs and books in several languages. (Mind you, the place is an actual medieval defensive fortification so it's a maze of staircases. You can access a good chunk of it even with a wheelchair though!) I especially recommend July! Sure it's the busiest tourist month, but the start of July sees the Medieval Market Fair in the Cathedral Park, and more importat to the Castle area, around the middle of the month on most years an organisation of historical riding performers organise a full-weekend medieval tournament in the Castle Park, jousting and all.

Turun linna is an older type of castle that has square towers. For example Olavinlinna (which is in Savonlinna) has round towers. The difference is that a round tower doesn't get damaged by cannonballs nearly as easily, the round shape holds it together much longer.
There are some really clever things in these old places. Something that I recently read about was the spiral staircases inside round towers. They were build so that the defenders, who were coming from above, went anti-clockwise: if they were right-handed, like majority of people are, they had a lot of space to swing their sword. The attackers who were coming from below were at a disadvantage not only because they were lower, but because they had to proceed clockwise round the spiral stairs and didn't have much space to swing a weapon with their right hand.
That citadel in Stockholm looks really nice, it is obviously very well maintained. Very beautiful.

The Vasa ship in Stockholm is indeed quite a sight in real life! They're closing the museum down though, as both the museum and the ship need a big renovation.
I visited the Pommern ship in 2021, it is also much larger in real life than what it looks like in the photos. It's closed in winter so that's why it has the 'temporarily closed' mark on Google Maps.
I've never visited the Nordic Museum but it's on my to do -list for Stockholm!

Both the Vasa ship and Pommern are incredible in person! One of my early childhood memories is visiting the Vasa museum and thinking the ship was the largest thing that had ever been built out of wood :'D
I only remember two things clearly from that trip - the size and colour of the ship itself, and this little pixely almost-game they had set up where you could see how differently shaped hulls with different amounts of ballast and cannons would do in a stormy sea, and it showed how and why Vasa had sank and let you test ways to try prevent it.

I just heared the people in Gothenurg scream in agonys as you said "Liseberg" and zoomed in on Stockholm. 🙂
That is like saying "Disneyland" and zooming in on Florida.

That was a quick 25k, I've visited Turku Castle, Pommern, the Vasa Museum and Gröna Lund (I count it since it was we saw at the start of the Kastellholmen round). Always a bit risky with the drone pictures, are they exactly where they should or have they placed them at the famous place nearby.

You got the same place in Stockholm three times, Åland which is a swedish speaking island that belongs to Finland, and then Åbo/ Turku which is the most swedish speaking town in Finland. 😆😆

So I tried this without google and a separate window for google maps, got four of them within one point. Did help I am from Sweden though I guess. 🙂
Wrong city for Turun Linna, but there was just no clue whatsoever if you did not recognise it immediately. Looking forward to see how you handle it. Time about 20 minutes.

I totally missed the Turku text on the flag on that one, which is why I completely borked it. At least I was still in Finland.

Yup, a seed with a reasonable distribution of famous locations in the Nordics. Three Swedish, and two Eastern Swedish (as they were)! Very much reflecting reality. If they're famous, they're Swedish!
Edit: even the migrating Norwegian trolls included! Gosh, this episode sums it all up in a small format!
As you might have noticed, the Nordic Museum is exclusively about Sweden. That was the very topping on the cake.
    Man, this one was epic!
