I remember when every girl on my school including me smacked it onto pimples. It dried out so badly and we all used the wrong shade for our skin.. What a horrible memory 😂😂
14 year old me, PALE, the lightest shade was so orange 😂 I had such dry skin, and I might as well have used a spatula to apply it. It was awful. I don’t think I could ever try it again. Went really well with that messy black kohl eyeliner, all the way around my eyes and all up in the waterline. Ooph.
Or some of them are transitioning from liquid foundation still and are trying to match that shade, which is probably still wrong getting that result. People like that need to realize that there are other ways to apply it, maybe the way Robert did it may kind of be the right way as the brush properly blends the foundation in a more subtle way that trying to use a bulky foundation/make-up blending sponge for the face. Being that it's a different formulation of foundation, after all.
@@PinkAgaricus Exactly! Whenever I get a flashback to me teenage years, I start to wonder... How did we manage without brushes and sponges??! I mean depending on the product, fingers might be the best choice but some products really need buffing and blending, you can't just smack that shit on. Now I'm flashing back to those shitty eyeshadow applicators, with a small sponge at the and that came with every eyeshadow palette. I'm still haunted by them.

About the YSL blush… As a slightly “mature” makeup consumer, a long time ago (think emerging from the horror of our ‘80’s makeup) we were, as very young adults, introduced to brands such as Clinique, Lancôme, YSL and a host of others. It was such a welcome change from the gaudy neonesque makeup we’d been using, we felt so “classy” using it. So then we were expected to select a favorite brand, and become die hard fans (and I do mean DIEHARD). It became sort of a banner we waved with each other “oh, you use Lancôme? Pfffftttt…. I use **fill in the blank** 💅🏼 Myself, I’m was a Clinique girl (I didn’t have a lot of money to spare on ‘frivolity’ as some of those in my age bracket)”. It didn’t matter if say, their blushers, or their mascaras - were absolutely shit, we were LOYAL you feel me? We did. not. use. ANYTHING else. We took ridiculous pride that when our friends came over and snooped in our bathrooms, they saw a glorious, matching product display with no blemish of an off brand to be found… Fast forward 20*something* years and suddenly there was this explosion of Indy brands, and our tidy little brand-whore existence was threatened. I’m just now, at 50, slipping in to Ulta to try brands like Colourpop and Benefit. All the while looking over my shoulder as if a contemporary of mine, and fellow Clinique Crone - would be waiting to berate me and scoff in my general direction for failing to keep faithful to “our” brand…. So I say all that to say this; Pricier Brands that have been in existence since **back-in-the-day**, didn’t have to rely on product quality as much as blind faith by their customers. When I go back and try some of my Clinique makeup (except their mascara, my God their mascara slaps) “I’m like wtf, this is shite!” Newer Brands today HAVE to perform! And this is a goooooood thing! Maybe the Pricier Brands will take notice as their loyal customers flee in droves to Ulta despite our unfounded, silly fears, and continue to experiment with brands that actually HAVE to make makeup that performs, not just lazily exist because they can. So yeah, I said it; I am a recovering “insert your snobby brand here” addict. And I’m here for it! 🙋🏼♀️
My mom was a Clinique counter girl at our local shop, and I used to go with her sometimes and use the samples to make looks on those little paper faces. I was maybe 8 or 9 😂 Clinique never became "my brand", but I think you just helped me explain why I tend to be drawn back to the same brands time and again and being hesitant to try other brands for the first time 😆
@@angelalurtz3638 awesome! One of my good friends was a Clinique counter girl, that’s how we met actually. Probably one reason I became a “Clinique Girl” was all the free samples 😂
Honestly why do they waste materials and our money on those brushes we all hate? They're not fooling anyone! 🤣 Just put that money into better packaging or something we'll actually want/use! 🙄
I love that the "I like the dream matte mousse" sounds like he's confessing to being an alcoholic lol like sorry sorry I used it in high school and it was easy, coverage, cheap, not much available at the time (I mean this was 2001-2004) and I mean all we were doing then is trying to badly cover acne haha
It also accomodated people like myself, Casper the friendly ghost, and let me tell you that was a feat in 2010's Greece. Dream matte mousse was my jam in high school.
@@dreamystone mine too, but I have combo skin and it would cling to every single piece of dry skin and then turn into an oil slick in other areas. Also for some reason I was in denial than I was the absolute dead corpse skin tone I am and used to wear it slightly too dark and didn't realise you can put it on your neck. So I was just out here with aenemic ears and neck. The shame.
I mean it was literally the only brand that even had close to my mixed skin tone but I still didn’t like it. I only used it because there was nothing else
I used to work for Benefit as an Account Manager and the big selling point of hoola was it's made with no red pigment so it's very flattering on many skin tones and can be used as brontour xx
That explains a lot! I love the undertone of Hoola because I'm really olive and most bronzers (even warm undertones) just look red in my skin while the hoola comes close to an actual bronzed look for my skin tone.
@@potato-whiz I wanted it for years. Tried it last year. Performed like absolute trash on my skin and looked disgusting. Looked amazing on my best friend though. I had to conclude that it was due to me having multiple undertones in my face and hugely combo skin. I was so sad it wasn’t good on mine tho.
@@AngryBudgieNoises it’s just interesting because there was a time that it was so hyped and so popular by people with different, often lighter skin tones, and it was loved for its neutral, non-orangey tone. They really loved the stick too. I never tried it so I wouldn’t know. It’s just funny how the pendulum swings like that. The hype could have been Benefit paying the influencers too, the hustle used to be real with them lol.
Robert, you should honestly do a thorough trial of Essence products- they've recently updated their lineup as well and are now 100% vegan. Plus they have come such a loooooong way and have become really good. (Same goes for Catrice but they share the same parent company so that explains that).
Essence matte bronzer for lighter skin is so good. I used to be a big fan of Benefits Hula light, but this one is better. It’s so much more pigmented and for like $5 can’t go wrong.
Essence is just the cheapest drugstore brand: they're not gonna be the best ever but for price quality ratio they have some great products. I've used their concealers/coversticks for years bc they just fit my skintone better than the more expensive brands
I love their matte powder (clear plastic, white-looking pressed powder) when I used to do more matte looks. I have their lash princess mascara and I love it! At first, i thought it was clumpy, but then I found out I can just brush through my lashes with a clean, old wand to help separate and it’s become my favorite formula.
@@kintijaliepina9725 mood! The lady at the drugstore once told me they had issues ordering the coversticks n speculated it was bc theyd b discontinued, n istg,,,, no idea what i would have done. I use them daily to cover up blemishes for work, n if I want a good dupe itd get real expensive
The one takeaway I have from this? The product depends on the person using it, and how they’re applying it. I feel like a really talented MUA can make almost anything look good. They know how to blend and buff, and correct product placement and correct application is everything.
Thank you for using the correct brush for the Dream Matte. I used to love it when my skin type was oily (thanks teenage hormones), and I LOVED it because my uncle told me to use a fluffier powder brush with it. The formula isn’t meant for dense brushes or sponges unless you’re using it as a spot concealer. I wish Maybelline had been more clear about it so that people could see that isn’t a bad product at all. It’s a matte that even works for dry skin types as long as you apply it correctly.
Maybe Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is the makeup equivalent of Nickelback. Like…it’s the cool thing to dislike it but it’s not really that terrible. 😬
@@Nat-hu4gq it was because emotionally we felt validated by the lyrics sending on the era you were in during their high time of Fame (no matter how short that fame was)😫😅
Essence Lash Princess mascaras are Elite and we love them in this house. $5, a bunch of different options, no flaking, easy to remove with micellar water. Definitely include the lash princess in your full face please!
I’ve use the dream matte mousse for years and loved it all this time. Always just applied with a sponge, minimal amount, and it’s always made my skin look so healthy and good. I wish everyone could’ve experienced it the way I did, I think it’s fantastic, especially for the price!
Yeah it's good if you have so called normal skin. But for oily skin, different story. It looks good for 2 hours and then it just starts to melt off and no amount of powder/previous setting spray is going to safe it 😜
@@RobertWelsh Leichner Foundation was my teenage go-to! I recall going to the little fancy dress/theatre cosmetics shop to repurchase it - I can't remember what shade of 'Blend of...' I wore but I loved the stuff! I'm late catching up with uploads but I was trying to remember what foundation I used as I never dabbled with Dream Matte Mousse! xxxxxx
I have yet to find a bad mascara from them! I also adore the soft contouring lip liner in the colour Big Proposal. It is my perfect nude lip shade (my lips are naturally pretty dark, but they "bleed out" in some ashy tones on the edges, so I add some pencil to even out the colour of my lips. The Big proposal pencil matches the inside of my lips so perfectly that it look like I am wearing nothing. It also holds the whole day).
Essence has a lot of great products. I love their Lash Princess mascaras (the purple one and the green one), face powders, blushes, highlighters, bronzers, eyeshadow are great and their lashes!!! The Lash Princess lashes are amazing - very natural and super lightweight and so easy to apply - an absolute dream for a small faced person like myself.
I use the pink lash princess mascara. I love it. I'm gonna have to try their blushes and bronzer. I am always on the lookout for good and affordable products!! Thank you.
I actually like how you used two different eye primers !! It’s definitely more of a fair and honest review !!!! I never liked how people try new products together because you never know what actually works or not. It’s important to do half a face of all things new and half a face with some holy grails.
The Essence brow gel is my go-to, I always have several tubes around. I have nice full brows already, so I don’t need much, but I really love how it just organizes them, fills in the more spare areas, and keeps them shapely for the day. And it’s so cheap!
I used to use the dream matte mousse everyday in eighth grade! Then a month ago I saw a girl on TikTok trying it again and loving it, so I bought it again. It’s friggin good. Especially if you warm it up in your skin with you fingers first then blend with a brush 😍
I LOVE the KVD Shake Primer!!! I use it on my nose for primer before foundation!! I use to have such trouble keeping my foundation from separating on my nose but NOT anymore!!! Great hack!!!
I love it for my eyes! I think the tricky part is to get it out of the bottle before it separates. I recently realised that you don't have to actually cover the nozzle or have the lid on when you shake it.
This probably sounds weird but I love your scar. It gives you such a edgy look. It’s unique and make you stand out even more. Ahh your are just stunning. Okay done with the gushing now. Back to your regular scheduled program.
At first I thought he did it on purpose. Years ago there was a trend where boys would shave out lines in there brows. When I first saw Robert I was thinking that trend was coming back around. I am such a dork.
The thing with dream matte mousse is, some of the shades oxidised really badly… and with not many shade options we were using what was closed to our skin tone and turning orange… also we didn’t use concealer back then… so we just piled it on. But… it does have the most beautiful finish when applied with a light hand and that’s why it’s still available today
The Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen is one of my holy grail products. Stays on while swimming or crying, doesn't smudge, doesn't feather into fine lines. Hands down a favorite.
She doesn’t bother disclaiming when anything is sponsored or in PR. I messaged her about it and she was like “I say thank you in my stories when I get something in PR” girl WHAT? You need to be transparent and saying thank you is not enough 😂
I really liked this video. Essence has some hits and a few misses like most brands. Some items just needed to be applied a little differently than how we usually apply these products. I swear some high end products just suck!
I just recently ordered from them after hearing great reviews on a couple YT channels. I quite like the pretty natural foundation, but I think I got a bad tube of 040, as it goes on like a clay mask. The 030 is good. My big pet peive with essence is the lack of color variety in eye liners, and masscara. I don't wear black as it looks to severe on me, but that's all they offer. The eyeshadow (bought the green palette) is okay.
Their melted chrome shadows are AMAZING and I'm trying their fresh and fit foundation which, surprisingly I don't hate, the color is spot on for my casper coloured ass, it's not too full coverage and lasts most of the day☺️. Ive heard their mascara can be hit or miss so I have passed on all of them, mainly because I'm loyal to fentys full frontal, it's my ride or die x
I love Essence products! Their lip glosses, mascaras and lashes are amazing! However, most of their eyeshadow palettes are hits and misses. Their shimmers are always stunning but their matte colours are mostly chalky and ashy and has 0 pigment. Summary for me...yes to most products but no to the matte eyeshadow palettes😁🧡
I agree about liking my eye primers to have a pigmented base. I've got super pale skin which means all the veins in my eyelids are VERY visible if I don't put something down to even the tone out first :')
LOL. I am pretty pale and I have tiny little freckles. If I use clear primer, it looks like my eyeshadow is smudged or spotty because of the freckles. I definitely need some color in the primer!
Dream matte mousse was literally my first foundation product I ever bought. This is so nostalgic and I know exactly what you were smelling when you mentioned it!
Robert said: "Justice for Dream Matte Mousse!" 😂 It does look good on you though! I've honestly never used it, but I remember seeing it EVERYWHERE when I was in high school.
"actually it's like 10..9 year old doing makeup for the first time" lmao 😂 I'm a mom of four teenage daughters and yes they are soooo far advanced in makeup then I ever was. What I'm doing now at 41 they've been doing since 12. Like super talented. Craziness.
Since you mentioned that you want to do a full face of essence here are some recommendations: - The new Skin Lovin‘ Sensitive concealer is great, looks natural while providing enough coverage to even out the skin beautifully - The Camouflage Concealer is lovely if you want a more heavy duty concealer, I managed to cover up my brothers tattoo using it - The fresh & fit foundation is by far their best one imo - The All About Matte Fixing Powder sets the face without making it too flat and powdery - The blushes are like any other blushes tbh, great lasting power but they usually turn out a bit pinker than they look in the pan - The 24Ever Eyeliner Pen is one of the best eyeliners I‘ve ever used and I‘ve pretty much tried every drugstore and high end eyeliner you could get where I live - The liquid lipsticks are too drying and crumble but the This is Me lipsticks look really nice and the colors are very flattering - The Watermelon Setting Mist is super refreshing, smells amazing and does it‘s job really well :)
I would also add: - the mascaras! (all of them! But especially the Lash Princess and I love extreme series) - Soft contouring lip liners (especially my favourite colour Big Proposal) - Make me brow eyebrow mascara/tinted gel - Inner eye brightening pen (i.e., the creme pencil for the water line)
When you do these reviews are you able to turn the brightness down and show us how it’s sitting in your skin so we can get a better idea of the texture? Similar to how Sophdoeslife does. Not sure if it’s possible with the set up and if you’re willing to do it, but it would make it easier for me to determine whether I think a product might stand a chance of performing well on my skin 😊
@@pennycandyys lol I started doing that and you can see everything. I love how you can see the makeup on their skin and it’s not all airbrushed looking.
The look Robert gives his computer when it dings before he puts on the highlighter 😂 I also love "I like dream matte mousse" like it's a confession at a Make-up Anonymous meeting! 😂💜 Also COOL SHIRT!! 🤩
Robert did a swear - he LIKES DREAM MATTE MOUSSE. I didn't know you could still buy it. I need to know how long you kept the Dream Matte Mousse on........we need a proper 8 hour wear review.
ROBERT! Please try the Essence Pretty Natural foundation. It has become my absolute favourite! I’ve tried so many different kinds from high end to drugstore and in my opinion nothing beats that foundation. It blurs pores and doesn’t sink into fine lines. Lasts all day! Even under my mask.
I am new to using the pretty natural foundation. I ordered two tubes in 040, and 030. The 040 might be "bad"/old as it goes on like a clay mask. It does ok mixed with the 030. I think I'd love it if both were the more fluid consistency.
tbh I love essence! They have some misses (for example eye shadows or nail polish) but oh my god - they were one of the first very affordable colourful eyeliners I stumbled across ages ago when I was still in school, some of their mascaras are just so good and some of the blushes as well, and my personal favourites - the mosaic compact powder (which I use as a bronzer) and the matte compact powder have been my go to for ages! Would love to see full face of essence for sure!
“It’s shit, I’m glad it’s gone” laughed so much. And when you said you like the foundation. I kind of feel like all the teenagers now must use the way we used it it to experience what we experienced once
My absolute all time favorite highlighter (in particular for a natural glow) is the Essence Pure Nude highlighter. And I've got a drawer full of high end highlighters that I like less. When you do a full face of Essence, I highly recommend that one! I also really like Essence lipsticks! OH and the essence shine shine shine lip gloss in behind the scenes (clear) is so good for a wet look lip gloss. The only other lip gloss I like better is Lunar Beauty's.
I'm so confused how people don't like essence they're mascara are great and really cheap, they're blush have a building pigmentation like they're bronzer which btw i love cause it's the only one light enough for me🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ probably depend the country you by them i guess
Yeah, I'm not even that pale and I can't wear most bronzers, but Essence is the first I've found that is light enough and not straight up pink or orange, lol. The days of looking like I'm either severely sunburnt or looking like an Oompa Loompa are gone lol.
sooo glad you're spilling the tea on high end luxury products. I began to realize my kiko cosmetics bronzers are very much like hoola ones but with a chocolate (because some of us don't have that pale tone that when it tans it becomes naturally Orangeee) undertone. I kind of like the blush from Benefit (first ever Blush I bought and it's...kind of nice, but the brush that came with it...Oh LAWD! tHAT was just sad)
Essence has a great honey range, I love the honey primer and highlighter palette, great tones especially for POC. Lasb princess Mascara is super as well. The eyeshadow palettes are trash though.
Robert please try the new catrice foundation everyone is raving about it and i honestly think its the absolute WORST ... like im sad i even spent money on it... and maybe im just stupid and not using it right but the catrice true skin foundation is awefull just aweful
I totally agree!!! It’s too full coverage and it makes me shiny after a couple hours. I don’t even have oily skin. Makes every pore stand out. Have you tried the Essence Pretty Natural foundation yet?! Hands down my new holy grail. It’s the most amazing foundation I’ve ever worn! And it’s 8.99 in Canada.
I did not like it. It was too full coverage for my personal taste. My skin is dehydrated oily, some days my skin cooperated with a tiny amount. Other days it clinched onto dry spots and T zone was oily
There are some AMAZING Essence products, like their pure nude highlighter, their iconic mascaras and more recently their Pretty Natural foundation. I'd love for you to try them out as a one brand review 💛
Not the dream matte mousse! 😂 In the early 00’s I had a dream matte mouse eyeshadow in a weird dirty turquoise colour and I just used to smear it on with my finger. No mascara or any other makeup!!
I love from Essence The Blush in the color Be Fitting. It's like $4 US and stays on all day for a matte powder blush. Also their clear gloss is so shiny n gorgeous also for a few $$ Best clear gloss to me over lux brands. Love u Robert even though u loved the Dream matte lol😁🤓😍❤️✌🏼️
Yes!! Their glosses are delish!! I especially love the peachy coloured one (can't remember the name at the moment) I had forgotten about those, imma have to dig them out and start using them again. Thanks for the reminder 😊.
Im so glad u liked Dream matte mousse! Love watching u! So this made me happy cuz ur reviyfeel really detailed. I loved it back when I was in high school. honestly girls back then used it as if it was liquid foundation and plopped it on their faces. & always had the wrong shade! Back when tanning beds and looking orange was all the high school rage! Before the rise of the beauty blender I had the small white wedges, the ones from MAC were a dream! I used to moisten it and apply it after using smashbox photo primer felt like I had almost like an airbrushed face after application. I only powdered my tzone! Had an Elizabeth Arden cream highlight and the nars orgasm stick and defincils mascara for my final touches and ready for my day!
Oh man, I love that KVD shake primer! Fairly oily lids and it holds up well for me. Especially under MAC paint pots (groundwork, mainly) to increase the longevity. Works well for that, at least!
You need to give Essence a fair go Robert!!! Their Princess Lash Mascaras are A M A Z I N G. Literally leaves me in shock at a $4.99 price point, FLABBERGASTED at the wear of the lengthening mascara!
Essence is actually really good you just need to pick the right products .. my favorites are: Lash princess the green one and the purple one I heart extreme the black one ( wipe these mascaras once before applying them unless you want a clumby look) All of their blushes Their natural glow highlighter Pure nudes highlighter
Uuuuuhhhhhhhh, confession: I used to use the Dream matte mousse foundation & I loved it. I blended it with my fingers. It always looked great. I didn't use much, it never looked cakey & it lasted really well.
Okay I think Robert needs to do a makeup look with the 'techniques' and application we were all guilty of doing in the mid to late 2000s with classic old makeup products. I was guilty of a black thick emo liner on the bottom AND top lids, too pale foundation (dream matte mousse all the way!) blush in a perfect circle on the apples of my cheeks, black and red eyeshadow and brown glittery bronzer 🥲
Australian here. The dream mousse was my childhood foundation, that and the BYS (a budget brand like essence) creme foundation in the circle packaging. The caked on look was in. People had to KNOW your were wearing makeup and that was the whole point of it. Trips to cosmetics plus with friends not knowing that most of it was and still remains to be past it's shelf life. But with no word of a lie it opened us up to the industry and led to us being more educated. Now kids are obsessed with skincare and the "no makeup makeup".
I love Essence ! Their contour pallete, mascaras, highlighters , eyeshadow primer , and few others things I have tried have all blown me away especially with the price
Love this look... I received this palette in Boxycharm sometime last year I believe, or earlier this year, I'm not sure but I was pleasantly surprised and fell in love with it. I've seen a few other recent reviews on the Dream Matte Mousse and they've mostly been positive. It definitely doesn't oxidize and turn oompa loompa orange like it used to 🤣
I love the Marshmellow primer, everything Essence, especially the Pure Nude highlighter…..BUT the Dream Matte Mousse makes me look like I’m a thousand years old. 🥰🥰🥰
Can’t wait for the full face of Essence! Love the stay all day foundation and the new six pan pallets! Hate all their mascaras 😬 they are just clumpy and flake on you in a matter of hours. You should do a full face of Catrice also!

Dream matte mousse was my first foundation. I was 14 (I think). I got the wrong colour and I used it like concealer on my breakouts which just looked like splotches of orange on my face. It looked awful with my black pencil liner around my eyes. all I had for tools were my fingers, those stupid white sponge things, and a powder brush I stole from my mom lol
I bought Dream Matte Mousse after watching this video and….I liked it too. 🤦🏻♀️ I use it very sparingly and apply it with a brush. It’s so quick, easy and makes my skin look great. The one main thing though is I HAVE to make sure I have recently exfoliated and use a good primer beforehand. It is not forgiving.
I use that eye primer all the time, I buff it into my lid with a slightly fluffy brush and it's always fantastic for me. 1 drop on the brush is enough for both eyes. Now, that could just be my skin.
Ok…. Dream matte mousse opinions……

Most times when people dont like something its because they are not using it the way it is recommended to use.

As a slightly “mature” makeup consumer, a long time ago (think emerging from the horror of our ‘80’s makeup) we were, as very young adults, introduced to brands such as Clinique, Lancôme, YSL and a host of others. Pfffftttt…. I use **fill in the blank** 💅🏼
Myself, I’m was a Clinique girl (I didn’t have a lot of money to spare on ‘frivolity’ as some of those in my age bracket)”. It didn’t matter if say, their blushers, or their mascaras - were absolutely shit, we were LOYAL you feel me? We did. not. use. ANYTHING else. We took ridiculous pride that when our friends came over and snooped in our bathrooms, they saw a glorious, matching product display with no blemish of an off brand to be found…
Fast forward 20*something* years and suddenly there was this explosion of Indy brands, and our tidy little brand-whore existence was threatened.
When I go back and try some of my Clinique makeup (except their mascara, my God their mascara slaps) “I’m like wtf, this is shite!”
Newer Brands today HAVE to perform!
I was maybe 8 or 9 😂 Clinique never became "my brand", but I think you just helped me explain why I tend to be drawn back to the same brands time and again and being hesitant to try other brands for the first time 😆
Thanks for the story. Really interesting and fun
I love this
@@angelalurtz3638 awesome! One of my good friends was a Clinique counter girl, that’s how we met actually. Probably one reason I became a “Clinique Girl” was all the free samples 😂

Robert using the provided blush brush for .023 seconds and immediately saying NO is my favorite 🤣

I love that the "I like the dream matte mousse" sounds like he's confessing to being an alcoholic lol like sorry sorry
I used it in high school and it was easy, coverage, cheap, not much available at the time (I mean this was 2001-2004) and I mean all we were doing then is trying to badly cover acne haha
As a chocolate girl, Dream matte mousse had one of the earliest shades that somewhat matched me lol. So imma bit biased lol
The shame.
Same here!
as a really pale ginger it was the only onethat matched me!!! it was fine other than on dry patches and id buy more even now 😳
I mean it was literally the only brand that even had close to my mixed skin tone but I still didn’t like it. I only used it because there was nothing else
I love how Robert clarified what kind of "fine" it is because we all know James saying "fine" is not good 😅
I used to work for Benefit as an Account Manager and the big selling point of hoola was it's made with no red pigment so it's very flattering on many skin tones and can be used as brontour xx
That explains a lot! I love the undertone of Hoola because I'm really olive and most bronzers (even warm undertones) just look red in my skin while the hoola comes close to an actual bronzed look for my skin tone.
I am surprised to see Hoola here. That stuff used to be SUPER popular and it is still a great bronzer. I don’t get it lol.
I used to use this for years because of this reason but now it looks like dirt on my skin.
Robert, you should honestly do a thorough trial of Essence products- they've recently updated their lineup as well and are now 100% vegan.
Plus they have come such a loooooong way and have become really good. (Same goes for Catrice but they share the same parent company so that explains that).
Do you know who the parent company is?

Essence matte bronzer for lighter skin is so good. I used to be a big fan of Benefits Hula light, but this one is better. It’s so much more pigmented and for like $5 can’t go wrong.
Essence pure nude highlight is just pretty.
Essence has the prettiest clear (with a little shimmer) lip gloss I’ve ever owned
i dread the day i won't be able to find my favourite essence concealer. it's gonna be a really sad day.

I loved the “it’s fine but not the bad kind of it’s fine” about the Essence highlighter. Tone changes everything!
Yes👏🏼😅 I definitely needed that differentiation because otherwise would’ve written it off 😆
Maybe Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse is the makeup equivalent of Nickelback. Like…it’s the cool thing to dislike it but it’s not really that terrible. 😬
Are you also Canadian? 😂🇨🇦
And sadly I was obsessed with Nickelback's music🤦🏼♀️
I don't think the Mousse is that bad, I think some people just caked it on lol However.. Nickelback is indeed awful XD

I’ve use the dream matte mousse for years and loved it all this time. Always just applied with a sponge, minimal amount, and it’s always made my skin look so healthy and good. I wish everyone could’ve experienced it the way I did, I think it’s fantastic, especially for the price!

Never thought I would say this but please do a wear test with the Dream Matte Mousse because now I'm intrigued!
The way he says he likes the mousse foundation like he's confessing some major sin.... LMAO I can't.
You'll absolutely die for the Essence Shine shine shine glosses. They're STUNNING and not sticky at all!

I completely agree, it adds a little extra to a beautiful face already kinda how I feel about freckle too
beauty is in the "imperfections" in these days of filters n everyone tweaking every selfie seeing someone look natural is a novelty .
At first I thought he did it on purpose. Years ago there was a trend where boys would shave out lines in there brows. When I first saw Robert I was thinking that trend was coming back around. I am such a dork.
I personally love scars that people can show and not hide.
His scar is his individuality 🥰
The thing with dream matte mousse is, some of the shades oxidised really badly… and with not many shade options we were using what was closed to our skin tone and turning orange… also we didn’t use concealer back then… so we just piled it on. But… it does have the most beautiful finish when applied with a light hand and that’s why it’s still available today
The Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen is one of my holy grail products. Stays on while swimming or crying, doesn't smudge, doesn't feather into fine lines. Hands down a favorite.

Rose is amazing!!!
I love the mascaras from Essence. My eye lashes are sooo straight and their mascaras help me keep a curl in my lashes.
I love their lipstick! and the hallo Berlin palette is great
I agree about liking my eye primers to have a pigmented base. I've got super pale skin which means all the veins in my eyelids are VERY visible if I don't put something down to even the tone out first :')
Lol same. So pale I'm almost transparent 😅
LOL. I am pretty pale and I have tiny little freckles. If I use clear primer, it looks like my eyeshadow is smudged or spotty because of the freckles. I definitely need some color in the primer!
SAME. I have to have an eye primer with some color to it. Otherwise it's pointless and I'll use my, gasp, concealer. 🥴
Dream matte mousse was literally my first foundation product I ever bought. This is so nostalgic and I know exactly what you were smelling when you mentioned it!

Since you mentioned that you want to do a full face of essence here are some recommendations:
- The new Skin Lovin‘ Sensitive concealer is great, looks natural while providing enough coverage to even out the skin beautifully
- The Camouflage Concealer is lovely if you want a more heavy duty concealer, I managed to cover up my brothers tattoo using it
- The fresh & fit foundation is by far their best one imo
- The All About Matte Fixing Powder sets the face without making it too flat and powdery
- The blushes are like any other blushes tbh, great lasting power but they usually turn out a bit pinker than they look in the pan
- The 24Ever Eyeliner Pen is one of the best eyeliners I‘ve ever used and I‘ve pretty much tried every drugstore and high end eyeliner you could get where I live
- The liquid lipsticks are too drying and crumble but the This is Me lipsticks look really nice and the colors are very flattering
- The Watermelon Setting Mist is super refreshing, smells amazing and does it‘s job really well :)
I would also add:
- the mascaras! (all of them! But especially the Lash Princess and I love extreme series)
- Soft contouring lip liners (especially my favourite colour Big Proposal)
- Make me brow eyebrow mascara/tinted gel
- Inner eye brightening pen (i.e., the creme pencil for the water line)

When you do these reviews are you able to turn the brightness down and show us how it’s sitting in your skin so we can get a better idea of the texture? Similar to how Sophdoeslife does.

These always teach me that we (or def I) may definetly have not been using makeup properly
I love Essence ! Their contour pallete, mascaras, highlighters , eyeshadow primer , and few others things I have tried have all blown me away especially with the price
I'm so in love with the background 🥺🖤
Love this look... I received this palette in Boxycharm sometime last year I believe, or earlier this year, I'm not sure but I was pleasantly surprised and fell in love with it. I've seen a few other recent reviews on the Dream Matte Mousse and they've mostly been positive. It definitely doesn't oxidize and turn oompa loompa orange like it used to 🤣
Was it really the dream matte mousse turning us into oompa loompas or was it all the damn bronzer we used lolllll
I use red when I need to brighten up my under eye. 🤷♀️ I concur with you! 🖤
Finally someone that hates essence mascaras too. I thought i was the only one on the planet.
@@veganMakeupKAOS they are terrible and I’ve tried different ones. I can’t believe that they don’t flake on other people besides me 😬
I adore the marshmallow primer. Glad you liked it too!!
You crack me up. "Well, actually now it'll be like nine ten year old using makeup for the first time". Great video. Loved it.
Oh you have made me laugh so much! “If you’re going to talk about me like that, I’m just going to go!” 🤣🤣
lets appreciate the fact that robert NEVER puts his nose in other peoples business, he’s SOOOO polite and professional i LOVEEEE IT. if all the influencers / MUAs / youtubers etc were as polite as robert this world would be a better place for sure🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕💕
“If you’re going to talk about me like that I’m just gonna go” 😂
OMG the Hello Kitty lashes package!!!!! 😍
