In dealing with my husband's terminal cancer diagnosis, I became a full time care giver as well as a full time employee at work. I carried so much weight in my heart and soul grieving and fearing the future knowing he was dying - just didn't know when. My body began to become paralyzed and hurt so badly. So one Saturday I recognized I was carrying too much emotional weight for my heart and soul and needed to purge and do a deep cleanse. I did a 3 part ritual. First, I smoke cleansed with sandalwood incense sticks. Cleansed myself, my hubby and our home. Then I journaled all my fears and sadness of losing my soul mate and got it all down on paper. Then I took a salt infused cleansing shower and did the "combing" like you demonstrated. It really worked. The physical pain went away and I felt so much lighter and able to cope. I have to do that periodically and realize now I should do it again. My husband transitioned 4 months ago and life is so hard.... I smoke cleanse weekly but I feel it's time for another deep cleanse. I read a book written by a curandera - she gives instruction on how to prepare a chamomile body rinse to cleanse with in the shower. I incorporated this into my water ritual and it was wonderful! She would line us up and would start from young to old and then herself, pass the egg all around the head and front and back of the body including feet, Then the most important part was to go out in the yard and quickly throw the egg against a tree or rock. It was very important that the egg would break, to dispel the negativity. I have done it to my family and they oblige me ha, they don't move in case the egg cracks on their body hahaha. Yup cuban here! Hugs. Time to do it to myself. I feel the heaviness.

Idk where you live or what's available, but I was walking around my neighborhood and found some cedar cuttings that were left for trash, and I went home and dried it out. I even found some sage seeds to plant! Some libraries have free seed libraries, too. Best wishes! I love DIY ing everything. I feel like it makes it that much more authentic.❤❤❤

Thank you for sharing an aura cleansing methode. I'm preparing for the darker season now. Putting up wintercurtains and having warmer colors in the decorations all over my home. And have started cleaning out and tidying. Have remove a lot of clothes and other stuff I don't use any more, such a relief. I also have problems in meditating, mine brain too goes all over the place. I was taugth count backwards from 100 to get to a meditative state. And counting on, my brain assosiates all sorts of things with the numbers. 😂Must really consentrate to get back again.
Well said about the smudging, it’s important we preserve and respect all cultures and that includes our own. No disrespect meant to the indigenous peoples of the Americas and we actually share something in common.. persecution, torture, murder on a mass scale and the systematic attempt on destroying our culture, people and beliefs.
If you're not indigenous or American, saying this is really odd to me. If they want to be exclusive, they have the right to do that. Saging included. Palo Santo and cinnamon sticks work!! Buying directly from indigenous makers is preferable.
Does anyone else feel like where different cultures agree, that's where you'll find universal truth? Like, if two far-flung cultures developed independently of each other yet came up with the same answer - so to speak - then there must be something to it?

I normally cleanse myself first using a feather and then I cleanse my space again using the same feather before casting circle. Then I invite all those I wish to invite. I do this on a daily basis.
So interesting, it's the same in Latin American folk witchcraft. When I was little, My mum would prepare ritual baths for spiritual cleansing at the end of year. For smoke, we would light a cigar since tobacco has spiritual properties.

I do have two questions however, I hope that is ok. 1) When casting a circle, lets say in my kitchen, am I drawing it with charcoal, or with salt.... and 2) what do I do with the circle when I am done? do I just mop it up or sweep it up and then throw away the salt? (thank you!! )
from what i know you dont need to necessarily set anything out to cast a circle, you could make a circle of salt, draw it, etc. you could also set candles (or crystals) in four(or more) points. what's important is that you gesture around yourself ( in a circle) with a wand or just your mind, and set the intention of the circle! the materials are mostly preference and/or whatever matches with your intention!
Smoke/incense, rub yourself with salt/Epsom salt(or other herbs/oils), then visualize the water cleansing you and your aura, and all that no longer serves you going down the drain :3
