I was here for this! This is my first racing memory and boy did it set that bug in me! I was just at the track TODAY with my kids! It was my Father's day gift and the first thing normal since well 2020 obviously. Cool memory from then, today, and all the times in between. Such a cool track to watch from you can literally walk the whole track and watch every turn, straight, and chicane 20 feet from the track at 75% of it. Really only the front stretch being the furthest from the track and you can view it from so many angles to make up for the distance.
Golden era of WSC racing. Nissan and Porsche w turbo 6 cyl, Toyota w turbo 4 cyl, Chevy V8, and Jaguar V12! All analog, no driver aids, pure racecars. Now racing in the Labor Day classic races.
Love lime rock! Go twice a year, going back July. Sometimes they use the chicane and sometimes no,depending on the race I guess, love seeing the mustangs and corvettes get their wheels off the ground when they’re not using it😎 Great vid,Thanx
THANK YOU for posting these GREAT Vintage Races! And THANK YOU for not spoiling the ending in your description 🙂 If you (or anyone else!) have any GT races from 1983 - especially the one at BIR (I don't know if it was even filmed) - I would be very grateful if you post it/them. THANKS AGAIN!
iirc the burn scars were from a previous wreck. I don't think he would have returned the next day (as they wouldn't just be scars overnight), do you? ;)
@@chrisamon4829 i dont know what all these styles are called :D started watching these vids recently All i remember is the 905, had a poster of it too haha

They are having a Historic GTP race in Long Beach this April! I’m going to see it in person I’m hyped.
Looks like no work for me tonight, gonna be watching GTP racing instead. Thanks 💙IMSA💙
I miss this era so much. The Eagle MkIII and GTP ZX Turbo will always be my most iconic endurance racing prototypes.
IMSA YT channel, thank you for keeping these classic races coming, highlight of my week watching them.

Watching classic imsa while preparing diner
That heat plume coming off the toyota down the straights is just insane. I think it melted the air as it raced along 😆
Onboard footage from the 90s hell yeah

I never knew Ken Squier did any work for ESPN!
39:00 He survived with just some cuts and bruises... Umm his face is also half melted from the fire.

Was there any on track overtaking?
I was there !
Me too!

Hell yeah this is awesome
You Cut is a much better app for old videos. It keeps 4:3 without filling in 16:9 with black or this nonsense.
it's not a Chevy/Spice; it's a Spice/Chevy
Gold
Would love to see a full race with the peugeot 905
Why would they? The 905 never raced in IMSA....
Perhaps you meant the Sebring and RA Peugeot/Audi battles in the ALMS? (and WEC, or whatever it was called back then, of course)
