Japan has a habit of making 'alt' history of the pacific war were they either win 'honorably' and never do war crime and paint the Americans as either evil or the losers
More 75mm for less 127mm could have done the trick in protection. The shear number of fire could have wiped many targets, even without the use of proximity munitions.
Other way around, the BSG remake came out years before this one did. Realistically, what we're seeing here is a very WW2 in space sort of look, and BSG very much had it's own thing.
i am curious if they are classified as CIWS or normal AA with random target aiming system because from the way it works it looks like a CIWS but in massive placements and close to each others lmao
ciws and aa are the same. These are mostly for dramatic effect; they would probably be more precise but it looks impressive and reminds of the old fashioned machine guns.
This is a fantasy re-telling of history, and so I doubt these guns in the minds of the writer are quite as good at CIWS. That said, I remember my Dad's company working on the first phalanx systems back in the day. It could have been the early 80's, it's been a long time.
I mean it's sci-fi, so who knows, but in real life, they're positioned the way secondary batteries would be. Which COULD be used for AA work at medium ranges. But the Yamato and most other naval vessels also had smaller clusters of dedicated AA guns which would have fired at a very high rate of fire. The turrets we see here are a bit of a weird mix. They might well have just called them 'secondary turrets' or something and the software they used could be used for both purposes.
That’s because they outfitted her with American AA guns! Though I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if she was given flak shells for her main batteries as well as the fusion shells.

Three things i noticed; why are the AA's firing like a Stalin Organ? Why aren't the lasers overheating? Why aren't the AA batteries compartmentalized with independent targeting? Like the auto turrets in Starfield.
Why wouldn't they fire like that? Why would they overheat from these firing durations? How do you know how the guns are targeted and how they calculate firing solutions? And why are you being pointlessly pedantic about trivial questions for a sci-fi anime? You're wasting your own time, and not even attempting to consider why any of those things my appear the way they do.
Your AA gunners/systems need a complete overhaul/retraining if they have a 90+% miss rate against targets going straight towards you with no evasive maneuvers. Yamato was an amusing show, but god damn a lot of it is infuriating.

Oh, they do use missiles. This is just a clip of the AA battery. The ship has a full broadside of launchers, another eight on the keel, six more in the smokestack and six at both ends. There are maybe too *many* missiles on the ship if anything...

However, most of them are huge models designed to attack enemy ships or bases, rather than small missiles that attack aircraft. The reason why Yamato does not shoot missiles at aircraft is because the missiles are rendered ineffective by substances in space that they do not know about, or because they are unable to make a large number of missiles that are "objects" that can be shot at aircraft individually, and to store them in the narrow space of the ship. I thought it might be because there wasn't one.

とにかく現実の大和の最後のハリネズミの様な対空防御をこんな風に扱うとは感動しました。
しかし大和を攻撃したアメリカの艦載機群は容赦なく、砲身が溶けるほどの機銃掃射でも防御する
事は不可能だったのを何かで読んだ者としては、こうあって欲しいという願望を具現化したアニメは
大和への愛と敬意が溢れた作品です。
史実ではどの米軍機も穴だらけになってましたが重要箇所の防御力の高さ
で撃墜までには至らなかったんですよね。
しかしアメリカのボフォースパクって装備してれば200機以上撃墜できたのにな・・・

確かに、実際のヤマトにもこれくらい活躍してもらいたかったっていう思いから生まれたのが宇宙戦艦ヤマトなのかもな
対メガルーダ戦辺りから敵艦に対しても撃つようになって面白くなった。
戦艦比叡は第三次ソロモン沖海戦の時に米艦隊からそういう風に多数の小中口径砲弾を雨あられと浴びて、ほぼ戦闘能力を失った。
こうみてると2202ではパルスレーザーの火力と射程と密度が高すぎる
これだけ射程と密度があるなら2199の七色星団戦も苦労しなかったろうに…
3年経っているので改良型に換装してると思いますよ。実際opでは改装風景だったんで

ノイ・デウスーラ戦での物質移送機による全方位攻撃、ゴーランド艦隊の圧倒的多数のミサイル、ニードルスレイブ・イーターIの無数の波状攻撃など、ガミラス戦役と比べて多数の弾幕を迅速に相手にしなきゃいけない場面が多いので、ばら撒きによる弾幕の方が精密射撃より効果的といえましょう。

Yeah. CIWS is capable of AA and can even engage surface targets, mainly small vessels, but I wouldn't trust its ai (near civilian craft that is😅)

「大和」は、対空火器の数だけは段々増やしたのですが、射撃指揮装置がお粗末だったため、命中率はメチャクチャ悪かったそうです。防空駆逐艦だった、秋月型も、命中率はアメリカ海軍の通常型駆逐艦だった、フレッチャー級よりもずっと悪かったとか😢

2199は武器を使用する時、しっかりそのプロセスを見せてくれるシーンがあるし、その用途がきちんと武器別に描かれているのに2202は漠然と大雑把な武器の連射ばかりで見せ方がつまらない。艦載機の発進シーンも2199はガミラス軍も含めて素晴らしかったが2202は手抜き感なのか監督の力量不足なのかまとめて見ると落差が激しい。
