Welcome to 1984 kid. We were partying to Van Halen for a good 20 years with two different singers before the wheels came off. Their first album, titled just Van Halen, was a watershed moment in rock history. Came out in 1978. It still holds up today. Check it out...
That first album changed electric guitar forever. Eddie was to the electric guitar what Paganini was to the violin. End Eddie was directly inspired by Paganini.
I was just telling someone the other day, how I completely missed that album (wasn't a huge rock guy then). My friend introduced me to VHII, and from there I never looked back. Full blown fandom!
It shouldn't. I've known their name all my life but never heard their name in conjunction with their songs. Lots of people talk about them but they broke up way before I ever started listening to them. It's possible for people to just not hear about popular things despite how well you know them.
@@VegasAlien1 No my favorite was my home boy Stevie Ray Vaughn. I watched the live solo by Eddie Van Halen, in my 62 years, in my opinion he is, just my opinion.
I saw this tour in '84. It was their last tour with DLR. I can tell you the energy level at a Van Halen concert back then was off the charts! Bands didn't like opening for them because nobody wanted to see them. They wanted to see VH. I was actually lucky because I won my tickets on a radio contest. Most times when VH played a city they would be sold out within hours. I personally feel blessed that I got to see Eddie play live. His passing was a hard punch to the gut.
The one Van Halen concert I went to had to be the single worst concert I have ever been too. DLR came down from the ceiling on the surfboard at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium and he was so drunk/high he fell off the surfboard on to the stage. When he fell, he busted the mic and tried to sing for a few minute before a stage hand ran up and forced him to switch mics. DLR slurred and mumbled through two songs before nearly everybody left.
@@silentrage5425 he did that at several shows, sadly. Out of the three times I saw VH with DLR he was only good once (1983 tour), did mostly babbling on the 1984 tour and absolutely horrible on the Fair Warning tour. After that, I saw the Van Hagar tour and it blew my mind! Sammy killed it live both times I saw him with them.
Miss Diane, Van Halen was the biggest Rock band of the 80's. Their 1st album was in '78, and it blew everyone away. For the next 20 years, every band tried to imitate them. Glad you did this video. Please do more from The Mighty Van Halen!
Every song in the 80s had a gratuitous guitar solo that was trying very hard to have the Eddie Van Halen sound. Rather than imitated, Michael Jackson decided to get the man himself for the guitar in Beat It. Although some say it’s uncredited, from the second the song came out everyone spread by word-of-mouth that it was Eddie.
I think I can say with great certainty that VH is my dad’s favorite band. He told me he saw them live so many times (with Roth and Hagar). I even remember him being really sad the day that Eddie Van Halen’s passing was announced.
Just watching your expression is a 10 out of 10. Van halen was one of the bands that was always on the top charts in the 80s. Still got both my cassette tapes and CDs. Good memories.
Van Halen is legendary for there guitar riffs. They can play guitar very fast. Panama has that summer vacation rock vibes. Jump is a good song too. I think both lead singers David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar are good singer's for the band. They Also have their solo career and own albums too. Thanks for making Magical Music Guitar Riff Wednesday's Very Joyful. 🎸🎤
Yeah that was the thing about him it gave you a feeling summer party good times what music could not be compared to anything it was a Vive man it was a feeling you had to feel the vibe it was incredible that's why they are the greatest of the great the mightiest of the mighty but for those we haven't seen them live you can hear him on the records and get it
Van Halen is the gold standard for screaming guitar and proto-hair metal in the 70’s and 80’s. They were one of those controversy rich, larger than life groups that is synonymous with rock music.
Oh no! LEAST favorite movie??? There’s a whole list of movies that I hate on a moral and/or ethical level. There’s also a pile of films that just really poorly made. 😂
Van Halen is one-of-a-kind and will never be seen again you had four people the best in the world the best we've ever seen best drummer best lead singer in frontman in the best guitar player this world will ever see untouchable I seen them about 16 times since 1980 through the Dave yours in the Hagar years up to 2015 had a chance to meet Ed al and wolf add was the nicest dude you'd ever want to meet they started it all the be-all-end-all
In Back to the Future, Marty wakes his dad in 1955 with a cassette labeled "Edward Van Halen." It was actually performed by Eddie Van Halen, but he couldn't write Eddie because he would have gotten in trouble with his manager or producer or someone like that.
Van Halen was definitely part of my 'party soundtrack' in high school and college. Saw them in the late 70s, early 80's when lead singer was still David Lee Roth. RIP Eddie. 🤗♥ Big on MTV when MTV actually showed videos. Van Halen videos were always fun. 🎸

@@davidstephan5116 there is no all time, EVH had his style. Page had his style. Vai and SVR are their own. but every body knows when EVH is playing. it's the most recognizable guitar sound. If you disagree you are just being naive.
@@davidstephan5116Not even close bud. Different styles and eras but they never had Eddie's innovation, his sound or his speed. Hendrix made guys want to popularize the electric guitar, Clapton had the melodic musical style bands chased but EVH blew it open. He remade the guitar what it is today. Guys after him tried to be like him and use his techniques, to this day. Listen to Clapton amd hendrix, honestly. Nowhere near the amount of energy speed or creativity. For their time maybe, the guys for last 40 years have been trying to do what Eddie Van Halen was doing for decades now. Its what modern guitar players mimic. Nobody's trying to copy a Clapton or even a Hendrix once they heard at Eddie lol thats fact. You can ask any of the bands that came about in the 80s post Van Halen rise. The Most Fun Hard & Heavy Rock Band of All Time. Yes lucky enough to see them in Concert in 1979. Absolutely Amazing Live Band. Their Debute Album Changed Rock Music
This, like so many Van Halen songs, has me turning up the volume when driving. I've heard they were incredible live. Your reaction to that one line was priceless
You definitely set it all these guys were the best Untouchable everybody tried to imitate them but it just wasn't possible these guys will never be seen again the talent level the greatest drummer guitar frontman and the party atmosphere these guys brought listening to their music gave you Vibe man The Vibes are music created will never be felt again
They were my very first concert back in '82! Ultimate party band and one of the best to see live! I was completely mesmerized by Eddie during his solo that first show and he's been my favorite ever since. I cried a lot when he died.
Van Halen was a great band and Eddie was a gifted guitarist. His son Wolfgang is also a musician. In case you didn’t know, he was married to actress Valerie Bertinelli.
I had the great fortune to see them live in 1984 and their live performance was nothing short of incredible! If you have ever watched the official video for "Jump" I can say they actually performed it pretty much that way in concert. Truly amazing! I liked their music before that concert but after I came away with a whole new appreciation for Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing ability. I know there is quite an argument about which version of Van Halen was the best, with David Lee Roth or with Sammy Hagar. While they both have their strong points for my money it's no conrtest, the early Van Halen with DLR as frontman was far superior for my taste!
It has meaning to a lot of us, I graduated from HS in May of 1984. Freedom, out on your own, etc. The only thing good about my age is that I lived and made it through the 80's. If I had only known how wonderful those years truly were.
Man I lived the same thing you lived I graduated in 84 also from high school seeing them the first time when I was in 8th grade in Middle School and never look back it was the greatest time I got to admit I wish others could have that too I owned a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hitman that car would seem to go a little faster when it popped in that Van Halen in the in the cassette player and seem to ride a little smoother
I seen them since 1979 about 16 times and it's not nearly enough up until 2015 I did five shows happened to meet Ed before the show and Al and wolf unfortunately Dave got a picture with Ed and Al and wolf and an autograph a dream come true was like staring into the face of the Sun I was standing before a living legend introduce myself said I was from Buffalo Ed shook his head yes and I was so blown away a legend standing before me Ed and Al
Lol. Maybe just the bands you seen. I saw them 5 maybe 6 times. The guy couldn't sing live but was immensely entertaining. But best live band ever? Not even close.
My 1st ever concert was Van Halen at The Staples Center in 2012! I was in 8th grade and although they weren’t with the original lineup or in their musical prime, that concert will always be special to me. They are one of the greatest American rock bands ever that exemplified fun, party music. RIP EVH and long live The Mighty Van Halen!!
I cried the day I heard about Eddie Van Halen's death, heard it on the radio, and was shocked and sad, and realized all of the icons that I had grown up with and admired, were leaving us and going away, greatest guitarist and performer ever!!! RIP Eddie, rock on Van Halen fans!!
Same here. I literally watched a few videos with my wife and she reached over to hold my hand and asked if I'll be okay. It was a rough few day's TBH. Don't think I've ever experienced this with any other artist..
I was shocked the day he passed; I spent the weekend painting my living room and listening to the Sirius Radio tribute to him. Those guitar solos seemed to come from another world, and I could get a glimpse of that world listening to his music. Genius.
I'll forever remember exactly where I was when I heard we lost him. I just sat in silence in my car for at least half an hour and there were most definitely tears shed. I've only ever done that one other time for someone who wasn't a friend or family and that was when Jimmy Buffett passed last September. King Edward will always be the GOAT.
yeah, when MTV first hit the scene, those of us who teens at the time ... this was literally what we were watching ROFL (well, only if we had a friend or a cousin with cable TV ...)
I saw them live and they were amazing!!! A crazy moment was when the bassist came on stage, downed half a fifth of Jack Daniel’s, played part of his bass solo before proceeding to down the rest of the bottle and then finishing his solo
Mask off: it was iced tea. David and Michael used to drink it on stage because they were the lead and primary backing vocalists, respectively, but they would put it in Jack bottles for "image"...not that they weren't actually drinking booze. Just not to the extent they acted.
I absolutely love your raw reaction. SUPERB!! You seemed to enjoy it and I really hope you do. We are blessed to have this meadium to relive our youthful glory days and bring others along. Please don't pay any attention to anyone saying "you missed out" because you simply have not. You're here enjoying it. We all are. It's a perfect world in that light. I'll encourage you to learn a wee bit more about them. There are some great stories of old and some ABSOLUTELY GREAT music, with both lead singers. I also encourage everyone else to drop the politics of which version was better and just enjoy the talent, musicianship, and love that was put out there. Peace!
So crushed you didn't go on and on about how amazing the music was, by probably THE greatest guitarist, and definitely ONE of the greatest musicians, of all time!
Eddie Van Halen was one of the greatest all time innovaters of rock guitar. He was to the 80's metal genre what Jimi Hendrix was to the hard rock genre of the 70's. He took a technique known as finger tapping as well as the use of the tremolo system on the guitar to a whole new level. His right hand picking speed was MIND BLOWING. Eddie passed from cancer in 2020.
Wow did you hit the nail on the head I had a 1970 Cutlass with a 350 and that machine must have went a hundred horsepower faster when Van Halen was playing in it
I remember when this was new. As a child of 1980's Los Angeles, VH were like comic book heroes. Saw them live many times. The reason Ive been playing guitar for 35 years.
Van Halen=fun time music. Also Sammy Hagar was the lead singer of Van Halen after David Lee Roth left the band. Some people refer to that era as Van Hagar and there are spirited discussions about which version was better. I prefer Roth, but there was nothing wrong with Hagar.
@@mattheweudy2396 ha ha. I had stopped buying their albums by the late 80’s so there was no divisive stuff for me. But Van Halen was a band I liked as a kid and teenager in early to mid 80’s at school. I liked my rock more edgey and raw and Van Halen were almost too clean and polished by then that maybe why I drifted away from them and were into other bands more. But this period of Van Halen was when I loved their sound the most.
On your way to a Van Halen show in the early eighties, You knew, the crowd knew and the cops knew this was going to be the show of the year. And it was.
Named after brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen (Guitar and drums) Eddie Van Halen reputedly one of the greatest guitar players of all time sadly passed away a couple of years back. Vocalist here is David Lee Roth and bass player Michael Anthony
Did you know that the music industry had to come up with special notes in order to write out his guitar music? They said his style was so unique that it took them months to figure out how to put the notes on paper. He was then dubbed the greatest guitarist of all time.
Yeah.. Like what comes after 1/64th note? Obviously it's 1/128, but how do you notate that? There is no room left for flags on the staff after the 64th.
In 60 years I've never shed a tear for the death of a celebrity/actor/musician - until Oct 6/2020 when we lost Eddie. Cut onions off and on all day. Still can't wrap my head around the reality he's gone. Saw Van Halen at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto in 1984. Still remember that night like it was yesterday.
Eddie Van Halen was ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER. He also did two uncredited solos, in Michael Jackson "Beat it" an in the movie Back to the Future where Marty was Darth Vader in his dad's bed room.
There is a reason they call them the MIGHTY Van Halen. Greatest band of all time. The sound track of my life since I first heard them in '79 at age 12. Incredible live performances...
I have the same experience seen them since 1979 until 2015 must have seen him at least 17 times they were the mightiest of the mighty soundtrack to my life and all of our Lives to They Carried me man my journey started in 8th grade and will never end I love your comments same for me too
I was fortunate enough to see Van Halen 3 times. The live footage at the beginning of the video was filmed in Philadelphia. I was at that show, on the floor, about 30 feet from the stage. They were always entertaining and amazingly talented. Just a fun band to watch.
Part of that video was filmed in Buffalo New York and 1984 I was there it was awesome just like the other three shows I seen before that in Buffalo New York they filmed some of that in Buffalo I'm in that crowd somewhere man there was no better seen him since 1980 May 26th Buffalo New York up until 2015 and the last tour got a chance to meet Ed and Al and wolf got an autograph and picture with them dream come true they were the best and they'll always be the best they are Untouchable do the mightiest of the mighty
In 1978 a couple band-mates and I were on the way to a gig. The guy driving started talking about a tune he'd heard earlier that day...a cover of an old Kinks tune called 'You Really Got Me' with this wild-ass-sounding guitar player. Within minutes the tune comes on the radio - WRIF outta Detroit. My friend yells "THIS IS IT", THIS IS IT...LISTEN TO THIS SHIT" and pulls into a parking lot. We stared at each other barely believing what we were hearing. In those few minutes we witnessed what would become a seismic shift in the way rock and roll guitar players would approach their instruments forever. Looking back, it was a cool moment. The classic debate; "who is the single most influential guitar player of all time?" is one that still rages among friends and aficionados. Pick your player and make your case, but EVH is gonna be tough to beat. Sorry everyone for the long story...after watching Ms. Diane's reaction I felt compelled.
Cool story! In the late 1970's, Van Halen sure caused a lot of people to have a similar reaction. Edward Van Halen gave us something the world had not heard before.
Unbelievable! The fact that this guitar player here Edward Van Halen is considered to be the second greatest rock guitarist the world has ever known and has not only saved Rock music from dying but had revolutionized it. He had built and created hus own guitars, which are standard in the industry. He ranks among the world's greatest musicians. Forget about the Pop side of Van Halen. Edward Van Halen's memory will live on as does of Mozart or Beethoven. Yes, he really is that immortal.
I just fell upon this. What does she usually do? Is she a musician, a movie buff, something like that? TBH I find it hard to believe, with decades of #1 hits, that anyone hasn't heard Van Halen before. Even a Gen Z like her. But I'll stow my suspicions if she's like a cellist or something.
@@garyleesjukejoint9510 I see. Thanks for the info. So she does reaction vids and has never heard "Love Walks In", "Dreams", "Jump", "Poundcake", "When It's Love", "Right Now", "Top of the World" (etc etc etc) on Spotify playlists. Ok. I’ve been fortunate enough to see David Lee Roth with Van Halen in the early 80’s with 1984 tour being the last one. Then I got to see Sammy as lead singer in Van Halen. I never once left disappointed from a Van Halen concert.
Are you kidding me to leave that place disappointed was impossible they gave you the greatest feeling walking out of that place you were never feeling better in your life and that's one of the million reasons why they will be missed so much and that's what made me such a disciple to
Eddie Van Halen was a legend in his own right and he took the guitar tapping skill and took it to a whole new level and among the greatest guitars of ALL TIME in Rock history. *MORE* Van Halen please! 😎
I'm sorry if this glitches your algorhythm, but even 40+ years after first hearing this, I still can't resist substituting the word "enema" during the chorus.
I remember when the first van Halen album was being played on european radio, some 1-2 years after it’s release. People thought it was great rock music, but when they realised that it was an American band everyone was confused ”How is this possible… American rockmusic??”
The Girls Aloud song used in Love Actually was a cover of "Jump (For My Love)" by The Pointer Sisters (1983), not "Jump" by Van Halen (1984). Two totally different songs!!
Van Halen is probably one of the only "siblings band" (Eddie and Alex are brothers) to not have issues between them during the band's tenure. That doesn't mean they didn't fight with everyone else though, lol! Either way, Eddie was a legend. Guitarist #1, inspired so many and created entire genres of music based on his playing alone
David Lee Roth vocals, Eddie Van Halen guitar, older brother Alex Van Halen drums , Michael Anthony bass First time seeing these guys was in 1978 at the Oakland Coliseum “Day on the Green” I believe they were the 2nd act that day. First was AC/DC , VH , Pat Travers Band, Fournier than Aerosmith. Long day of music 😜.
"Day On The Green" was legendary. I only got to attend one of them, but it was the first "festival concert" I'd ever gone to. I still remember hearing on the radio while driving to work about Bill Graham dying... it was a shock, because his name had been associated with all the concerts that defined my youth. There will never again be a time like that era, but hopefully newer up-and-coming bands will fill the gap into the future... It's been a "long, cold winter" for good rock music, but it does seem to be coming back these days. 😋
If you still live in the Bay Area there are show out in smaller venues , Marin Co. East Bay, Napa, Sonoma unfortunately SF isn’t as big as it used to be. Musicians from are era still jamming here & there. Funny story I’ve told to a few musicians friends of mine. In 1977 myself & a few buddies (teenagers )went to day on the green with Led Zep , Rick Derringer, Judist Priest . Got there the night before and broke through the cyclone fence sometime in the early morning and went to the front gate A few hours later Bill Graham came up to us and started scolding us, calling us bad citizens & line cutters. Even as a young dumb teenager I did feel bad and remember it to this day My musician friends laugh 😆
Great reaction, Van Halen gets their name from the brothers Eddie Van Halen - one of the most inventive and important guitarists in rock history, another video worth the watch is Van Halen Eruption Guitar Solo, and the drummer Alex. Other members were Michael Anthony-bass guitar and the first singer David Lee Roth and second Sammy Hagar. A fun fact is this song was part of a psychological warfare campaign against the former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega in December 1989 by the US Army. He had holed up in the Vatican Embassy in Panama during the US invasion of Panama. The army parked some humvees outside the embassy with loudspeakers and played it amongst other songs to convince him to surrender, which he did 10 days later.
Oh, but don't forget their 3rd lead singer. Who existed. I can't really be bothered to remember his name, so I just call him "weenie-boy" as that was the vibe I always got from him in his previous band. Fun fact I: I've never heard anything VH did with Weenie-boy. Fun fact II: Supposedly, the first choice to replace Dave was Patty Smyth, from Scandal ("Warrior" and "Goodby to You") Fun Fact III: Supposedly early on there were questions about Dave's singing. Someone at the label suggested Sammy, but they stuck with Dave. For a while at least.

First time I heard them was 1978 when I was stationed in Germany. "Running With The Devil" was the song that hooked me in, and I bought their first album, but was really disappointed by the second and stopped listening to them. By the time this came out i was into a different sound.
this was the era when bands not only had to play exciting music, but have an exciting stage show, as well. flying on a harness was pretty common, but one band even went so far as to mount their drums on a tram track and have them go up over the stage. (that would be Moitley Crue)
David Lee Roth was always a character, as an avid kickboxer he didn't feel like he needed a body guard so when he hired his first body guards they were a pair of midgets. That first part there is photographic proof of. the next piece I can't find anything certain about it but it was getting passed around as fact in the early 90's. After a while the label said he needed better guards so he asked if he could hire some high rankers from his kickboxing school, the label agreed. He hired the two hottest female members of the school and had them as his bodyguards for months before the label figured out what was going on,
As someone that was born in 75 having a older sister that listened to everything from Fleetwood Mac to Van Hallen and everything in between most 80s rock concerts were very energetic
As a kid 6-8, I wondered why my High School looked like it was the Hot for Teacher school. I thought I was imagining things. Turns out I was right. It’s because Twisted Sister was the local band made big. Ken Marino from the State graduated during that time period. 1983-1986
I feel so sorry for younger people, they watch videos like this and seem shocked to see people just having pure fun, not being self conscious, not trying to look like they're too cool to care about anything. The 80s (and a bit of the 90s, but grunge killed most of the fun) was pretty much the end of people being carefree, being crazy just to do it, goofing around, loving music being played with instruments, everything didn't sound the same etc. Now people pretend to have fun for Tik Tok views. So glad I grew up in the 70s/80s.

It's alright okay I believe you because you said so. Yes that's the way our country used to be some people still are, you take a man for his word.
No they weren't.
I think I can say with great certainty that VH is my dad’s favorite band. He told me he saw them live so many times (with Roth and Hagar). I even remember him being really sad the day that Eddie Van Halen’s passing was announced.
Aww 🥰

My first VH show was in '79, just after VH II came out. I still have hearing damage from that show :D

Eddie’s smile still stuns. RIP to a guitar god.
@FactsMatter999 sorry but he was a god --- no other mere human like Hendrix, Page, or Clapton could play like him
@FactsMatter999 Eddie was a true god amongst men and you're just a nobody that is easily forgotten
Thank you for your kind gift again Rickey! Yes it’s very summery

It is impossible to resist the urge to put the pedal to the metal when this song comes on. 💖
I actually got two tickets while driving and listening to VH back in the 90's
This was also the perfect song to use for the opening of Sony's Gran Turismo 4! Its an iconic driving song.
I actually change the station when this comes on, over played and a terrible period for an amazing band.

In Back to the Future, Marty wakes his dad in 1955 with a cassette labeled "Edward Van Halen." It was actually performed by Eddie Van Halen, but he couldn't write Eddie because he would have gotten in trouble with his manager or producer or someone like that.

All time? 😂 yeah….. no. SVR was better, Jimi was better, Steve Vai is better, Satriani is better, Malmsteen is better, Clapton is better. Shall I keep going?
It is one of the all time great driving songs

They were my very first concert back in '82! Ultimate party band and one of the best to see live! I was completely mesmerized by Eddie during his solo that first show and he's been my favorite ever since. I cried a lot when he died.
Van Halen was a great band and Eddie was a gifted guitarist. His son Wolfgang is also a musician. In case you didn’t know, he was married to actress Valerie Bertinelli.
Eddie, that is.
Love this!! Any song off of their 1984 album has special meaning for me. It was my first ever cassette!!
Oh wow!
It’s a great album, not a weak track

King Edward will always be the GOAT.
yeah, when MTV first hit the scene, those of us who teens at the time ... this was literally what we were watching ROFL

Van Halen music was made for driving way too fast in a car with the windows rolled down and your hair blowing everywhere. Basically joy incarnate.

Van Halen=fun time music. Also Sammy Hagar was the lead singer of Van Halen after David Lee Roth left the band. Some people refer to that era as Van Hagar and there are spirited discussions about which version was better. I prefer Roth, but there was nothing wrong with Hagar.

Did you know that the music industry had to come up with special notes in order to write out his guitar music? They said his style was so unique that it took them months to figure out how to put the notes on paper. He was then dubbed the greatest guitarist of all time.
Yeah..

Yes, they were absolutely INCREDIBLE live!!

Eddie Van Halen was one of the best guitarist ever. Absolutely one of my favorite bands.
My comment, both then and even now, was "There is a Van Halen tune to fit any circumstance. You just have to hunt around and you'll find it."

If you have not heard the *Van Halen* song _Dance The Nigh Away_ it’s a great song. It was featured in the movie *Argo* .
I don’t think I have?
Agreed. One of my favorite VH songs. I have a feeling that "Eruption" would blow Diane away..😉😁.
My personal favorite Van Halen song.
Probably the favorite VH tune among women --- they all love that song
Man those were the good ole days back then. I / we were really lucky
Oh wow! That’s mad
David Lee Roth liked the name for the band because it sounded
Ike a nuclear Missile
For a while at least.

this was the era when bands not only had to play exciting music, but have an exciting stage show, as well. flying on a harness was pretty common, but one band even went so far as to mount their drums on a tram track and have them go up over the stage.

This is VERY 80s! I grew up watching this on MTV...when MTV actually played videos.
As a kid 6-8, I wondered why my High School looked like it was the Hot for Teacher school. I thought I was imagining things.
Turns out I was right.
It’s because Twisted Sister was the local band made big. Ken Marino from the State graduated during that time period. 1983-1986
This was 80s young lady, THIS WAS THE 80S!!!!!! 🤘😁🤘
Look for wolf (or wolfgang) van halen, Eddie Van Halens son, hes continuing in his fathers footsteps and is really good too.
Diane you will never be the same after listening to VH! It is life changing!!! Best band ever!!!
The original members are David Lee Roth, mike Anthony base guitar, Eddie van Halen and Alex van Halen are brothers
Diane, OMG you finally found Van Halen so proud of you! Eddie Van Halen was one of the ultimate guitarists of our time. May
he rest in peace. David Lee Roth was an alright vocalist who was replaced by Sammy Hagar. Keep enjoying the great music.
Please stay safe and stay AWESOME!
Excelsior!

Their song Hot For Teacher blew my mind when I first saw it....I was 8. And it was at that moment I wanted to be a rock guitarist.
Ohhhhhh the days of Van Halen! I remember the first time I heard these guys. Holy Cow. Such a rabbit hole too. Hot For Teacher, Jump, Eruption, Jamie's Cryin. So so many more.
A kid growing up in the country. Never heard of VH. We got cable TV and MTV in 1984... my favorite. I like BOTH versions of VH... Sammy and DLR's solo stuff are also among my favorites.
Van Halen, any party, any where, any time, if they were playing, NO ONE complained about the music. They were pretty much the one band everybody liked.
I saw them in 1980. David Lee Roth threw his towel into the crowd and I caught it. Some guy punched me in the face trying to take it away from me. I left with the towel. He left parts of himself on the floor. I still wonder what I ever did with that thing.
I saw them at Kemper Arena in K.C. in 1984. They were so hammered when they came out o the stage. We were all laughing because they were screwing up every song but they had so much energy that nobody cared. I was sitting in nosebleed and got contact 😵💫 in a few minutes along with all my friends.
