It's a far cry from the Ferguson Hammer mill (badge engineering from Scotmec from Aryshire, you haven't got one.... Yet Dan haven't you, 😁 and David Brown had one in their range so I believe your favourite tractor brand too I believe!! 😆) I used to use a Scotmec belt pulley driving bolted to the ground on a Massey 35, thank you for the video.🙂
The bedding the machine produces is I would say quite expensive? Though if I was a cow with all of her specific bedding needs and the need to rest and get comfortable in her cubicle it’s got to be the way to go and I would say the fine chop straw will mix nicely into your slurry and spread better than say sand etc.
Awesome video, so milling of straw makes the automatic muck clean out more or less efficient? Assume I know nothing, the automatic equipment on my Dad's place was his 5 sons

It would take a while to put a bale through a Ferguson hammer mill 😆
Glad you were doing that rather than me with all that dust 😬. Looks like it did a good job again though 👍
Good video Dan 👍 20 bales doing until Feb March time seems like a very good usage per day 👌
Great video Dan on a different note can we see the Barn you put up a while back ? Not sure if you did a follow up video
Great video dan, hope the cows appreciate the effort.

Many times cheaper than bulk dry sawdust, and keeps the beds drier too.
@@CowfarmerDan cheers Dan 👍
Great video. A quick question though, with blackgrass being a problem do you worry that the tub grinder might bring some in from previous job?
The straw is bought in so the seeds could be there anyway.
It's not an issue for us.
That is lovely bedding. Can you tell how much a bale or an hour to get that job done?
It's an hourly rate
Good video Dan, do you know what horse power is need to run that mill. ? I heard that big case dieing off when u dropped the bale in.
I think it's 240hp, and the mill uses all of them.
I think my 3075 could handle it all right.😂😂
Another great video Dan. How do you rate the Kubota v Massey now that you've had it awhile?
Kubota is OK as a tractor, hydraulics not powerful enough for a loader though.

We have the same level of automation as your father 😆
Interesting! Always curious how other farmers do it
Are they put in with the strings
No, strings are taken off.
Watch the video, man is pulling the strings off.
Would it be short enough for slats
Yes, we scrape the slurry through slats.
I guess you use less bales overall if it’s milled?
Yes, it is more efficient
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
