A small desk fan is real nice for sleeping during the summer months. Something small enough to be kept in kit boxes or in your locked cupboard during the day. Also if you can drive to depot having a personal vehicle available on base is nice. Being able to leave to get supplies or just to get out of depot for a little while definitely makes training go smoother, also it doubles as additional storage for things you can’t fit in your pit.
Out of all that I brought, ear plugs are a must!!! You will hear someone snoring 5 pits down. I also bought some bio steel powder and multi vitamins to keep my vitamin intake up. Work hard during the week and enjoy your weekends, the weekends and hanging with troop mates legitimately got me through depot. Something you cant pack is be a good troop mate.
This information has been very helpful! Thank you! I just want to let you know that your posts have been very helpful for me, as someone who makes Mountie OCs, they’ve been helpful with ensuring my fictional Mounties have a more accurate experience.
Hey Steve! Great video! I just got my Golden Call on Monday and will be flying out to Depot to be part of troop 8, starting June 3rd! Thanks for the detailed list and your personal input and tips, I’ll for sure be using them!
Hey Steve, Thanks for sharing the new video about what to bring to Depot. It's incredibly helpful, and I appreciate the detailed list. Watching it, I couldn't help but wonder if one day I'll receive that exciting phone call, hearing those words, 'You're joining us.' And I'll look back at this video, recalling your advice with hope and anticipation. Here's to hoping for that day to come. Thanks again for all you do.
Thanks for the video Steve, iv been watching your videos since I started the application process and now I’m headed to depot in August! As always your videos are incredible helpful, Thank you. 🤙🏻
Congrats! From your experience, could you please let me know how long did your RCMP application process took before you got the call for Depot? Thanks!
I’m going for DICE cadets in a few days for a month i really needed this after i get back still have to wait 7 months before i can apply in the meantime i will be studying the law and train
I would add OTC pain relief for sore muscles, nasal spray & visine for the dry air and immodium/pepto/Metamucil etc because Regina water is not like water back home!
wait what do u mean ? if I drink the water I will get sick? im in my application process has we speak that is why I am asking! I am from Vancouver and I drink the water from the tape here.
Hello , I am just wondering if you want Ontario to be your posting would it be only thought federal policing ? And if so do I only apply to the federal policing process ? Or I can apply to the regular member and ask to be transferred to Ontario Ottawa ?
You have a couple of options… apply as a regular (GD) member and request to go to O Division (this all depends on timing / openings) or, wait for Federal to open up again. At the moment, Ontario and Quebec are “closed” to new applicants / Cadets unless there’s a specific need and the Applicant / Cadet has a relevant skill set that’s required by the RCMP. Again, timing is key.
Hey steve, been insecure due to my age. i’m 19 and right now i’m preparing for the interview, ever since i was a kid I wanted to be a mountie. But do you think 19 is too young compared to those who will be at depot. do I have a disadvantage? Thanks Colton
Hey Colton, Thanks for the question. So I’ll answer your question this way… many 19 year olds have made it to and through Depot. It’s less about the number (the age) but more about the experience you bring to the table. I definitely wouldn’t let that stop you from applying.
Hey, I do have a couple of videos in my content feed with some information that might assist. The STAR technique is golden, read the prep guide given, and be honest about everything 👊

As a new cadet, the second you step inside your dorm, you need to run to the storage room and claim your space. The space is limited and you need that for your luggage.
Thanks for sharing I've been watching your videos for some time now they are very informative. I'm in the early stage of the application process, Question? I'm in my late thirties and they keep telling me to be in top physical shape, what would you recommend I focus on above all.
Hey, First, well done on looking at the rcmp! I was mid thirties when I went through training. I wish I had focused more on running / cardio over strength / power focused. So… run, and run lots!
@@RealCopsReelLife im trying to run but its been hard from the hot sun Vancouver been having. if I run if would hav to be 5am 6am and I find it hard to eat since I don't get to hungry and my body has more engery at 9am or 10am or later to run any tips or tricks would be appreciated
Maybe you said it and i missed it, but an extra pillow is a must! Don't use the one they provide you... Iron it well and put it away, bring it out every morning for display on your bed while you're away from your pit

Great advice but you didn't say anything about personal meds, is there a pharmacy near by to get your pills???
Yes, there is also a Medical Treatment Centre on base.
Please make a podcast so I can listen on the go!

Does anyone know how long someone has to wait if they fail out of depot before they can go back
Hey, it all depends on why they failed out. This determines what’s needed to be worked out. It ranges from a few weeks to never.
What is depot?
The RCMP training academy
@@RealCopsReelLife Thanks. I figured it was either training or a reserve duty.
