would you say it's possible for a 19 year old to join the RCMP?
Hey, There are plenty of 19 year olds who become Mounties 👊
@RealCopsReelLife thank you for your response, highly appreciated
Can you leave the depo do you get weekends off. Or nights off. If you are married can you get placed at the same depo and can you sleep together.
You can leave Depot in off hours (evenings and weekends) as long as your work is completed. There is only one Depot. No, spouses cannot sleep together
Hey man, do you have any tips or advice for the Interview process and polygraph ? Thanks in advance 👊🏻
Hey, I do have a couple of videos in my content feed with some information that might assist. The STAR technique is golden, read the prep guide given, and be honest about everything 👊
Hi Steve! A Montreal Dad here! My son is currently at Depot, in his 19th week. I have talked to him about your channel and he told me that he has been following you for a couple of years now. He also told me last night that he met you a couple of times at Depot and that you go there often. His name is Kevin Robillard, a young man from Montreal, bilingual. He just got his posting this week...he's not happy about it, but he will do what needs to be done. He will be posted to Fort ST-James, on a 4 year contract. He has ALWAYS wanted to be a police officer, since he was at least 3 years old. He's almost there. Thank you for all you have done and are still doing to help these young kids. It means a lot to a father missing his son. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your new posting. Good things finally come to those who deserve them.
Thank you so much for this comment. Very meaningful! I know very well about the “not happy about posting” but… perspective goes a long way, and sometimes, what we don’t want is EXACTLY what we need. Thanks again for the encouragement 👊
In the application process. Hope will get selected and will pass physycal assessment. Hope for the best. Love to serve country❤
Good luck with it all 👊
Thanks farmer. My brothers best friend died of brain cancer when he was 11. My grandmother died of cancer when i was 12. My aunt got cancer when i was 13. My best friend got cancer when i was 18. Thanks for spreading the poison and growing your GMOs. It shows how much you hate mother earth and all its children.
It must be one of the best feeling to have your dad's farm where you grow up and than work there with your young children until they take over when the time comes. Farmers play such a big role, I thank you for your service and sacrifices.
Thank you for the comment. Landing in Sk from Toronto, a HUGE appreciation growth for farmers. Thanks YOU
Where in Canada do you live?
Sk
I don’t want to assume… but the fact that you use these, does that mean these are approved to use with RCMP? Or does it vary from det to det or Div to Div?
So I mentioned in this video, that I do not currently use these. I use the issued carriers. It’s best to get the directive from the division / commander as to what kit is acceptable
I’m taking an Investigative Principles class and the chapter I’m currently working on is about police note taking so this was really helpful!
Oh I’m glad. That’s fantastic
This was less intimidating than a previous video I had watched, well put together and very interested in doing this :)
Thanks so much :)
Beauty. 100% knows what he's talking about. Learn from him, he is 100% right.
Thanks my friend. Appreciate the comment!
Maybe you said it and i missed it, but an extra pillow is a must! Don't use the one they provide you... Iron it well and put it away, bring it out every morning for display on your bed while you're away from your pit
Great advice!!! Haha that ever so careful two arm scoop of that perfect pillow to lay it ever so gently on your bed before leaving in the morning.
I personally thank you for this video and your insight..knowing I am too far gone in years to be in your "Boots", you get it!...Serve your fellow citizens. Thanx for promoting being a real Canadian. God Love Ya! Wish you all the best and hope this comment finds you well.
Thanks so much for the comment! Blessings 🙏💙
I work in security and am thinking to get one, which would you recommend? Thinking Denali as it has the more squared front look... Is molle easier to use than the laser cut molle?
The Denali is a great carrier!!!! The quality of these vests are dope!
@@RealCopsReelLife Is it standard 3 or 4 rows of molle on the front?
I just failed the online assessment for the RCMP so I’m giving up on joining but your videos are extremely well done and had me super motivated to go for it. Thanks for what you do
Sorry about the assessment… I’d say give it another go! Thanks so much for the encouragement my friend👊
@@RealCopsReelLife sorry, I posted that comment while feeling sorry for myself. I will take the results I got and improve myself instead of giving up!
Hello, If I am from Ontario Ottawa. Can I request to be posted in Ontario ? Or is there no contract policing in Ontario and only federal police? Also when you say I’ll know my posting during the process , do you mean during the application process before going to depot ? Thank you
Hey Ottawa! You can certainly request to be posted back to Ottawa… however, at this time, Ontario is “closed” for new recruits coming out of Depot. Unless…. You bring a particular skill set that is needed at the time they’ll lend to a specialized unit. (Financial, IT, Etc.) You’ll know which division during you application process (most applicants)
@@RealCopsReelLife hello , I do have 9 years of accounting and finance skills which can be used in financial crime unit , I hope they will bring me back once I submit my application
Hey Steve, where can I find the RCMP policy on external carriers? I've been looking but no luck so far
OM under uniform / kit. Failing that, ask your supervisor to help you out
2 years late but watching from Halifax Nova Scotia!
What’s up Halifax!!! Here’s to hoping I make my way back that way 👊
Great video Steve! Every time I’ve seen you at Depot I’ve been asking if you have dropped this video lol!
Thanks for watching my friend. Haha more videos to come
he said adhere to policy. now safe from the commish
Just words of wisdom
currently using Denali for 2yrs, no complaints. Good durability and good customer service from Prelabs
Good stuff
Great video my friend
Merci mon Ami
@@RealCopsReelLife ces avec grand Plaisir! J’Adore ! Is two of your carriers ?
Nice informative video as usual from Unc Steve, quick question do you get a refund by your agency when buying your own external equipment's ?
Thanks for the encouragement. Short answer is No. there MAY be commanders out there who will… I have heard of them, but not general practice
@@RealCopsReelLife Ohh ok Thank you
I just applied for the RCMP, this is my backup plan if I wasn't able to find a job in my field of Graphic Design. My partner is RCMP.
Fantastic. Also, because of our schedule, many members have side hustles. So if you become a Mountie, I certainly wouldn’t halt my artistry :) Good luck with it all 👊
As a new cadet, the second you step inside your dorm, you need to run to the storage room and claim your space. The space is limited and you need that for your luggage.
Yes!!! I forgot all about that storage area. Thanks for the comment 👊
How's the vest now? Still wearing it?
Vest is great… after they replaced it. It started to fray at the bottom, so I contacted pre labs. They totally took care of me, and sent me a new one which they have bolstered the fabric to be heavy duty. I expect it to last a long time.
@@RealCopsReelLife Does the internal ballistic nylon wear strips help much?
Great video, I was looking into one of these for a new bag and this is a great overview. Extra cool that it's another member - cheers from K Div!
Hey K Division!! Thanks so much for the encouragement my friend. Stay safe👊
Ive just purchashed this bag in the Kangaroo colour
Nice! I kinda wish I went with that colour also. Great choice.
@@RealCopsReelLife yes I’m sick of wasting money buying cheap luggage and bags, this time I’ve purchased the 12 rush bag + SOMS all kangaroo 🦘 colour
Amazing review btw thank you !!🙏🏾
My father spent 20+ years military and then civilian RCMP member after retirement. I spent 20+ years military and retired having trained a bit with local and RCMP. That said, I have absolutely NO confidence in the RCMP and never will again until there is accountability.
So you’ve never been an RCMP employee yourself.
The whole problem is the evil concept of contract policing. The guarantee can't work because there will be to many people coming from the 2 large provinces, where there are no contracts. I'm from Alberta, which means that every time a mountie recruit comes here from Ontario and Quebec and Albertan looses a job.
An applicant from Alberta can get posted there upon graduation if they’d like. That being said, already a few changes since this video. More to come.
I live in the US, so some of the specifics aren't necessarily applicable. But I found this interview highly informative about the job. Thanks!
Thanks for hanging out.
Hi im 16 and i really want to be a rcmp officer,i just have a few doubts about,so what do we do if we don’t wanna move to a certain place?can we like request for it?and how often are the transfers and how do u manage to get transferred from one place to another especially if u have a family?and what would be like an approximate amount of pension u get if u worked for more than 30 years?
You’ll have a conversation with staffing. You can certainly request postings. The first posting following the Academy is different than your following posts. Basically, once in, you can discuss your career aspirations with career development unit. Some transfer frequently, while others only once or twice in their career. Depends what you want. Pensions are based on the members best five years the average. I can’t put a number on that.
@@RealCopsReelLife Okay thankyou sooo much for replying
Nova Scotia
Love NS! 👊
1, for RCMP you need to be rainbow,,, 2 you need to be confused about being a girl or a boy. 3 you need to get on your knees for Justin Barby Trudeau, WEF, and being a traitors for Canada... If you answer yes for 1 2 3 . You have the job
Thank you i just started the process
That’s great. Slow and steady wins the race ;) 👊
@@RealCopsReelLifeHow long do you think it’ll take? to be in a troop
Good review. Thanks.
👊
Can y'all get Black Rifle up there??
No easily. Only a few retailers have it. None around me from what I know.
@@RealCopsReelLife it's worth it brother!
Thank you so much
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
My application got selected today
Any advice
Hey steve, been insecure due to my age. i’m 19 and right now i’m preparing for the interview, ever since i was a kid I wanted to be a mountie. But do you think 19 is too young compared to those who will be at depot. do I have a disadvantage? Thanks Colton
Hey Colton, Thanks for the question. So I’ll answer your question this way… many 19 year olds have made it to and through Depot. It’s less about the number (the age) but more about the experience you bring to the table. I definitely wouldn’t let that stop you from applying.
Please make a podcast so I can listen on the go!
I was told I should consider applying for the RCMP a few (bout 6 lmao) months ago and haven’t gotten it out of my mind. Fast forward to today - just reached out to recruitment in BC after reading the gov. Website and I think it’s ironic / hilarious that I genuinely thought “agh I love Canada I could be posted anywhere!” And then looked up Grise Fiord and just laughed HAHA still into it but okay maybe should think about the saying - literally - ANYWHERE in Canada 🤣 I was thinking Vanderhoof BC or something lol
Note to add * this video made me a LOT more interested in learning about pursuing a career w the RCMP. Genuinely; thank you for bringing this to a public platform for people like myself to see this view on the career!!
Thanks so much for the encouragement
Hahah yes, Grise !!! So nowadays, applicants have a conversation during the application process about where they want to go. Basically, come to an agreement BEFORE training. It’s generally not detachment specific, but provincial. Hope you decide to apply… it’s a good gig
👊🏻
👊🏻
Thank you 🙏
🙏
hey man, watching from the GTA, Ontario, Currently in the application process, Im getting matched with a RA this week or the following, Thank you for your great content
That’s fantastic. Thanks for the encouragement my friend. Good luck with it all. Stay patient
Hey guys, do someone know where to find a cap 🧢 like his?
Hey, bought it from a store in Oshawa Ontario - Hero Surplus. The Velcro flag I already had
Well done Steve.
